What if Mozart wrote technical death metal? I wrote some riffs to find out. Check out the full composition lesson for FREE on my Patreon: www.patreon.co...
I don't get why people are annoyed with it not being an actual piece by Mozart, I think it's way cooler and more impressive to compose something in the style of Mozart and then turn it into tech death instead of straight up quoting him. Don't get me wrong, classical quotations in tech death are sick, but this is something else, and it's great.
0:19 this opening passage reminds me so much of As Eden Burns who would sound just as awesome played by a melodic death metal band or a classically trained pianist
Not trying to be a jerk but It sounds absolutely nothing like Mozart. BUT when you stated that you'd try to make Mozart sound like metal I immediately had the feeling it would not work. Once a violinist friend said that Mozarts music is like a crystal, the slightest thing will pop like a fingerprint. Most Mozart themes are based on chord arpeggios of some kind. The repetition might work but the lack of melodic contour in his style makes this seem much more like a regulat metal song than a "Mozart Style" metal song. AND it's not like someone commented that you'd have to rip off his music you can incorporate his ideas and style and create something that resembles him, but that would be a deep dive I don't know if you'd be willing to make, if this doesn't suit your life purposes.
Not being a jerk for sharing your thoughts. My goal wasn’t to sound like Mozart but to answer a curiosity of mine: what would Mozart’s note choices sound like in a metal context. The only element of Mozart’s composition remaining in my little song are the notes he chose for a few short excerpts of his sonata, none of which even comprise a whole phrase. I specifically didn’t want the song to sound like the simple stile galant periodic structure of Mozart’s music. I enjoy doing this with many different composers. I take a selection of note choices, sometimes from a harmonic structure, sometimes from a melodic one, and then use the notes as raw material to compose with. It’s just a fun composition exercise for me. Anyway, thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts!
Thanks! I’m actually not playing any of Mozart’s composition in a way that would be recognizable. I wasn’t trying to cover the sonata but instead write something original with some of the musical material found in the sonata. What I did was take a few key harmonic and motivic choices Mozart made then played and arranged those notes in a way that a modern tech death guitarist would.
@@andrewboothmusic Interesting. Perhaps I am not familiar enough wither Mozart or Tech Death, but its difficult for me to tell those riffs are associated with Mozart without seeing the title. Either way, an interesting video. Looking forward to seeing more of your content.

"writing in the style" is also more educational!
What you're ACTUALLY supposed to do, is entirely rip off Mozart note for note in multiple songs, and hope no one notices. 🤭
Hey look, it's that guy who does good covers of Archspire songs
@@alxndrlondon i think this guy his les hair though
Hahahaha I mean, it sounds sick so I won’t tattle
Mozart would be proud (probably, idk I’ve never met him)
Nice. I would like to hear longer version, where common composition tropes of late baroque and early classical era.
That’s a great idea! I’ll see what I can do

So sick keep it up
Check out Disembodied Tyrant or Fleshgod Apocalypse if you have not already.
Disembodied Tyrant - Winter is awesome!
Fleshgod apocalypse is awesome
So, Protest the Hero? Great Playing!
one parts sound kinda proggy, very nice
This was cool 👍
If that happened then other musicians would be out of a Job.
Sir, it seems your black guitar has long neck and low tone. Is it baritone guitar?
Dope
Nice shirt bro.

I mean... nicely played, obvs, but I'll be damned if I can hear any Mozart in there? maybe a snippet of the Mozart would be helpful.
There is in some of the melodys.

There is some mozart in the melodic structure and rhythms, but obviously the harmony and setting makes it way less obvious
cool riffs but its hard to tell that they are in the style of Mozart.
It’s actually not in the style of Mozart at all. I took Mozart’s note choices and played them how I think a modern tech death guitarist would

Necrophagist
Technical Death Metal 🤣One day, we will end up with Black Heavy Speed Technical Death Metal 😂
Tech death has been a uniquely distinct and recognized subgenre of death metal for decades. Not sure why that would come across as silly to some
