      Thank you! I got them for free. The guy I got them from found them in the attic in his new house. I'm assuming maybe the previous owner had an OBS Ford as well.

    i have a 96 f150 same setup autozone belt fits perfect .my truck has the 3 g alternator its pully is 2 1/2 diameter .tryed this belt on my 93 ,belt 1/2to long .found out after measuring pullys the 93 alt has a 2 1/8 pully ,you need a 3g alt or change pully to make this work

      I had to go back to the first chewed up belt it had. After I ran it a while the belt ended up coming off again. Turns out the power steering pulley has about 1/4 of play and it scoots to the front. I'm eventually gonna remove the pump. It's my daily at the moment so I can't get too deep into it. Thank you for watching 🙏

    Did you ever have issues with the truck having a bad idle because of the smog system?

    • @obsnaround
      @obsnaround  6 месяцев назад

      Not at all, just check engine light on. It did have jumpy idle but not related to the pump. It had a bad ignition module

    Mine came with a smog pump and they had a small belt on it, I went ahead and put the longer belt to work the smog pump. Runs the same I just like everything to be OEM on my engine .

      Was there any issues with the pump? I had to go back to the pump since the power steering pulley has a ton of play. I ended up using the shredded belt it had first.

      Everting was perfect, the belt you put on is backwards, should be turned where you can read the writing how I was told years ago or they will make noise, Gates or motor craft are the better belts for me. if you have play in the power steering, you can put in a new kit that has everything to repair it. I was just killing time and found my old reply and seen your question, Hope this help. I believe the smog pump vacuumed out the gases to returning it to be burned and also keeps the intake running cooler, That’s what I’ve Aways heard from other mechanics from years ago. May have to rebuild the power steering pump or salvage yards would have one, I used a turkey baster and pulled my steering oil out, I would turn the wheel left and suck the old oil out, then refill and turn right, then pull oil again, after that refill and started it and made my grinding noise go away, the old oil was broken down, if you have a jack stands or a lift would help you do the wheel turns easy. Otherwise it’s all you got to turn the wheel

    Same issues with my truck. Thinking about bypassing smog pulley. Is your belt staying in place not slinging off?

      It couldn't keep it on. The power steering pulley has a ton of play so it wobbles in and out.

    Any issues with check engine light? Do you have OBD1 or 2 computer?

      In my case, I did have the engine light on. It's an OBD1 computer

    Yep, leds are directional, and they don't last, most of mine in the dash of my van have burnt out, interior ones too, tired of fooling with them.

      You're probably right. It got dark by the time I finished replacing them so I just let if be. I'll probably take it apart some time later lol

      @@obsnaround I have been so lazy, about half my dash is lit, so long as I can see the speed, the hell with the rest, its a bitch to get the bezel out of my big van. Watch you smog delete, it may throw some codes, they will only show in the KOER code scan.

      @obsnaround  Год назад

      @Maples01 I broke my bezel more after I took it apart so I didn't bother anymore. My check engine light is on. The pump ended up not being the issue 🤦‍♂️ it was the harmonic balancer coming apart and walking into the cover.

    • @Maples01
      @Maples01 Год назад

      @@obsnaround I bought a balancer, mechanic forgot to put it on when he replaced the radiator, not pulling it again so I just pray mine hasn't slipped, I need to time it. You'll have code 33, you can trick it by putting resistors in the wiring in place of the TAB, and TAD, not got them yet to take care of mine, but saw a video on here where a guy had done it.

      Will you need to time it even if it has the notch for the woodruff key? Few have told me no and a few have told me yes. I'll probably be doing it this weekend.
