Back when I was a teenager listening to “Life after Death”, the exact person I thought of storytelling wise was Ice Cube. “I ain’t heard no stories like this since Cube.” I think to put them against each other is to take BIG out of part of his tree of influence, in terms of gangster story tales. Puffy mentioned “Amerikkka’s Most Wanted” as a influence on his work with BIG.

When he went solo his first album Amerikkka most wanted had public enemy the bomb squad on production a New York City based production. He had story telling all through that album. He dropped an EP after that story telling with dead homies. Death Certificate the entire album every song was a story. How can Biggie who still wasn't out compare to that? Biggie had a couple of songs if that telling stories such as I got a story to tell. Biggie is dope but he had only two albums and they were mainly club hits and a few hardcore street songs. Warning was another storytelling song but that's it. Biggie didn't change the era of rap.

There is actually a really fair point to be made in regards to the framing of "I took out 4 ppl and the manager. All by myself. They never made another record after that". Biggie was on his way to greatness but he got killed before he reached that level. I was a fan of his. He was on his way to number 1 since Pac died but then he got killed before his second album was even released and just don't have enough body of work to be considered an all time great. Only reason he is looked at in such high regard and even discussed is because he was apart of Tupacs story. It's just the truth. He isn't top 10 or even top 20.
