Update: I purchased 2 speedlights AD200P and V850II. Very happy with both. Rechargeable batteries are the way to go. Also, I can adjust the power on both from my trigger on the camera. No cables.
Hi Nathan, I have a quick question: I got the xPro Trigger and the TT-685SII, but I'm having trouble setting the flash to slave mode. I can't seem to switch the mode from Rx to slave on the flash. Do you have any ideas about what I might be doing wrong? Thank you!
Excellent review, thank you! Will either of these units work in TTL or automatic mode with the Nikon Zfc? I just want something basic where I can set the f/stop on my camera and flash and let the flash adjust the output as needed... like my old Vivitar 283 flash. Does TCM do that? So many dang acronyms to try to understand.
Hi Nathan, since the TT685 has more than one pin, will it change color temperature every time the exposure changes? I thought it might be better to take the v850iii, there is only one pin
I despise those lock knobs they started putting on their speedlights and triggers. All I can suggest is to keep working it slowly until you can remove it, but do not force it. You can also try pushing down slightly on the speedlight so that it lowers slightly in the hotshoe; conversely, make sure you are not pulling up on the speedlight when trying to unlock that knob.
@@NathanCoolPhoto I mean social events such as opening in galleries, concerts, etc. however I bought it last week and it works perfectly fine on a Nikon D3400
Hi Nathan, thanks for your awesome video. Would appreciate if you could help me, I got the TT685II C recentky, but noticed I can't trigger the AF beam assist in low light condition. I set to the AF to on, but i still don't see any beam when i pressed on my 5DMKIV ,,, i using back-focus button for the AF , the shutter button on exposure trigger. Any advise would be helpful. Thank you so much.
Thank you for the video, it was very helpful. I’m completely new to using off camera flash. I have 3 of the TT685II flashes, using one on my camera as the commander. On every video I have seen so far, when you go into wireless mode, the display looks like it does in your video with M, A, B, C. However mine says A, B, C, D. My master always seems to be in group A. Any idea if this because you are using the separate commander or do I have a setting off somewhere or something?
M is for Master on some speedlights like the 685II, allowing it to double as a flash and a controller (M sets its power and allows it to control other lights). If you see M, A, B, C, then you are in Master mode, making that speedlight a controller. You can find out more on page 39 in the manual at www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/347147.pdf
Great video! I need help on something- My new Canon 5D isnt auto aligning in photoshop very well. Is this a camera setting? I feel something needs to be turned on or off. Thank so so much if you can help!
Hi Nathan, would love to know if the TT685ii focus assist beam triggers on sony camera. I have the A6600 and I’m considering on getting one. The thing is recently I read about how the focus assist beam in most flashes have problem with sony mirrorless. Cheers!
For my work I always leave the flash's zoom wide open...I use it like a small monolight :) So unfortunately I can't help you with that particular issue, but to me it shouldn't have any significant impact either way.
One thing that I wonder about is why does godox limit the TT685 V1 limit the minimum output power of 1/128 in manual mode, but in TTL mode it can go down to 1/256. it is good that they allow manual mode to go down to 1/256, but I wish they would release a firmware update for the older ones to allow for that setting as well.
I don't use TTL and I don't recommend it to for me it's not a critical issue. I talk about that more in my REP series, in particular my lighting guide, here's a link if you'd like to check that out: amzn.to/3vHYYiB
It really doesn't matter, it's kind of splitting hairs. You can test it with a light meter sitting on the far end of the room on a counter/table, but the difference is negligible. A bigger difference comes with amzn.to/3RSYkYv which is the next step up.
Hi, Nathan, I'm from Russia and I'm a big fan of your videos! I'm going to start making some money as a real estate photograph but I discovered that absolute majority of RE photographs in my town make one shot pictures for a very very low price. I'm not ready to spend much more time doing flambient photos for the same price so I have a question. Do customers want to pay more for higher quality pictures? Do you earn more than others RE photographs who make "chipper" pics? Sorry for my English, I hope you got my question.
Hi There Nathan. Thanks for the info on both Speed-lights. Got a question, I'm using a Sony A6000, does the TT600 have TTL? compatibility issues? Thanks in advance Nathan. btw just subbed, liked and notifications on! ;)

Thanks for the review, I'm purchasing my first Godox speedlight this week.

Very good information, that even a newbie to flash could understand. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!

Thank you! It should since Nikon's TTL is universal across all their cameras, but I haven't tested that.
Great review...this helps a lot! Thanks.

Very informative, thank you so much
Is this compatible with X2T wireless trigger? Thanks
well explained , to the point and very useful review , keep it up
Hi, hope this isn't a dumb quesiton but what is RX mode & how do I change it to Slave mode??
Hi Nathan. My Godox TT 685 II is locked, and I can't unlocked it using the lock button. Perhaps you can help. Thank you very much

Hi Nathan. Thank you very much. It works! I did it like you suggest.
thanks for the review. do you think it would work well with a Nikon d3400 to do photography events?
You're very welcome Luis. I'm not sure what you mean by "photography events". Can you clarify?

Great vid, does the tt600 have hss, the bh product description is weird "High-Speed Sync via Optional Transmitter." I am using xt2s. Nice.
Thanks! And yes, it depends on the trigger being used in the hotshoe, here's a link with more info: amzn.to/3nrcX7F
What mm zoom setting do you use when doing ceiling bounce flash?

very useful 👌🏾
Is there a way to shoot without pre-flash with this setup?
Use manual mode.

While each geographic region can vary, here is an older video I did that discusses this topic: ruclips.net/video/n9IpwBA1cmA/видео.html
