Hi Lou, In the mid-seventies, I was working in an Exxon gas station in The Bronx, N.Y. One of my mechanic co-workers had a '70 White/Black GSX. He also had bought new, a 1967 Buick GS Stage 1. It was white with a black interior. I think they made less than 100 of them. Great memories!!

I owned a '72 Skylark in high school in th '80s. It was a bit of a junker, but still a lot of fun. Let a friend write on the bumper with a black magic marker, PASSING SIDE above the left tail light, and SUICIDE above the right. Good times. Dreamed of owning one just like the one in this video after reading about it in a muscle car mag where it beat all other muscle cars of similar size in a shootout, and back in the day. The GNX of the '80s being a nod to the GSX. Thanks Dennis and Lou!

Beautiful! I love the yellow with the black, one of my best race cars was yellow. If I recall, according to the Motor's manual, 1970 was the peak for torque and horsepower on the Buick 455. I took a high compression 4bbl 455 from a 1970 LeSabre (?) 4dr and plopped it into a dirt track car. That engine is so heavy, it flattened the oil pan sitting on the floor overnight, had to use a dent puller on it. With the 455, my car was unbeatable and it never broke a sweat. The first lap was amazing. Entering turn 3, everything suddenly got quiet, I could barely hear the 455 running, but everyone else was just coming off turn 2 as I started out of turn 4. In the video you can see me turn around in the seat looking for the rest of the field. 😂 I bought the donor car for $100. They used to say, small blocks suck, big blocks truck!😊

I'm a Ford guy also, what you said most beautiful muscle car was not a Ford, C'mon that's sacrilegious, pure heresy! Only joking, I kinda see what mean, kinda.
@@kevincostello3856 haha, it did say most beautiful car THAT was not a Ford. I meant most beautiful non Ford. I should have made myself more clear. The most beautiful car period, in my opinion, is a 1967 Mustang Shelby GT500 with the early headlights that are side by side.
Now that's what we call a muscle car great job on the restoration at first I was thinking that was not a very good read but toward the end we said the motor was new now I understand why hidden rev it up so hard still sounds great though😮😮

My absolute favorite muscle car. The closest I could get was my old '71 GS455. That car was a blast. Side note: The prototype (show car actually) 1970 GSX is owned by a family in Ohio, and it is a wild sight to see. Look that car up sometime. The owner was Brad Conley, who sadly passed away last year. But his GSX is the #1 most rare and valuable GSX in existence.
I have GSX #222 (Stage 1, 4-speed). Also Saturn Yellow. Absolutely spectacular car. The GSX is the rarest of the 1970 GM Halo Muscle Cars. Compared to the 70 LS6 Chevelle, the GSX was much rarer (678 GSX vs 4,475 LS6’s). There were 3,100 442 W-30 made, while 3,797 GTO Judges were produced. Out of the aforementioned 678 GSX, 400 were Stage 1’s. Out of the 400 Stage 1’s, only 118 were 4-speed manuals.

The “Hemi killer” came from an 80’s muscle car magazine shootout drag race. The GS Stage 1 against a Hemi GTX. The GS won. However… the guy, Roy Badie who did the bragging about his recently acquired ‘70 Hemi GTX 4 speed had no drag racing experience, and wasn’t good with the manual transmission. The GS guy, Richard Lasseter was an experienced drag racer and president of the GS club of America. He had a blueprinted engine with worked cylinder heads. He was basically a hot shoe. All you have to do is look at drag racing history, and you’ll see which engine was the killer. 😁
Buicks fast with Class! I currently own a saturn yellow 70 gsx, as well as my factory 4 speed 66 gran sport #s matching 401 nailhead,,, marina blue code FF it's been in my care for over 22 year's now! Buicks the most underrated car's in existence!
My first car was a Gold 1970 Buick GS, 350 4 barrel carb. Nothing anywhere near this but even it was a beast! First day I got my licence I rolled down the windows and went 100mph. Dusted a lot of fast cars in official street races. Sounds dumber than it was; I really was a good driver, just fast but safe fast!!
@@loucostabile it's possible can you do a story on the 1979 Buick Skyhawk with a roadhawk package ? I had one. Quite rare . Not necessarily valuable. Looked fast. Definitely was not 🤣🤣 Engine was a 3.8 V6 2 barrel . Buick should have made the right decision to put either a turbocharged V6 in it. Or a Buick 350
The 1970 Chevelle LS6 killer and the Hemi Killer. And it could do it with A/C, power windows, fully loaded and with moderate 3.42 gears. This is a true gentleman's muscle car. Not for a brash racer boi.
If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times: You get the best cars!!! 3.42:1 is probably about just right for that car, for regular street driving with good acceleration, Optimum would be a two-speed rear axle with something like a 2.26:1, (or whatever GM's numerically lowest was) and a 3.73:1 or higher, for really getting out of there in a hurry. I'll bet that the lowest possible gear in that car, in tandem with a very conservative right foot, would probably net close to 20 MPG or perhaps higher, at 55-65 MPH.
12:00 that Stage 1 engine is higher compression, the camshaft has a much more radical set of specs, but (per the literature) adds 0 torque and only 10 horsepower. Hmm...

@@loucostabile Hello Lou 🙏 I Owned a 1972 Boat Tail Rivera Stage One 455… I Bought It From a GM Worker In Columbus Ohio That Ordered It Special Very Few Of Those
It's the General Motors A Chassis the same as a Chevelle. I put a whooping on a Few Buick GSX's with my 79 Z-28 Camaro I do have 110 HP Nitrous kit on it . I also had a '73 Chevelle Winter beater that I paid $300.00 for very rusty had to put in new floor boards and then spray foamed the floorboards and trunk. The Trunk was totally rusted out thanks to a leaking rear window. I replaced the heads and cam and put the stock cam and cam chain out of my Z-28 Camaro in it.. 1970 64 CC heads for higher compression for driving in the Mountains in Colorado. Wiand SP20 intake spread bore 450 CFM Holley and headers got 22 MPG on the highway .. National 55 MPH speed limit. I also had the Turbo 350 rebuilt for $250.00

Класне авто! Чудова реставрація!Двигун! Дякую!
Hi Сергій, Happy to read you enjoy this "Cool car" :-) Glad you appreciate the work that went into restoring this car. You're welcome, Lou
I am a Ford guy, but I have always said that this car was the most beautiful muscle car that was not a Ford.
I'm a Ford guy also, what you said most beautiful muscle car was not a Ford, C'mon that's sacrilegious, pure heresy! Only joking, I kinda see what mean, kinda.
High praise.
1968-1970 Dodge Charger hands down!
They built these in 69' as convertibles.
Wow! Great car! 👍👍
:-)
"Going Fast with Class"!
NICE!
Now that's what we call a muscle car great job on the restoration at first I was thinking that was not a very good read but toward the end we said the motor was new now I understand why hidden rev it up so hard still sounds great though😮😮
Hi Pete, Happy to share this "muscle car" with you :-) Lou

That is a beautiful car! Sounds amazing too!
Happy to read you enjoy the looks and sound of this car :-)
@@loucostabile I have a 72 4-door skylark custom.
"My absolute favorite muscle car." WINNER!
Top Buick Muscle💪 Great car!
....just the way we like it :-)
I have GSX #222 (Stage 1, 4-speed).

Awesome LouGoogle is advertising 4 U Brother. Calling it The HEMI Killer. Nice[1]Guys. I'd love to see it again when the engine is broken in✌️🤠🌵
Hi Angus, Happy to read this one is "Awesome" :-) Glad to read Google is advertising 4 me, and thank you for sharing, Lou

Gr8 feature.
Hi Audie, Happy to share this Muscle Car with you :-) Lou
My aunt had a 68 Wildcat convertible.
Happy to read your Aunt had a cool car.
Hi JD Black, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your 1st car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Buicks answer to the hemi.
That's correct.
Yes and also the GSX was Buick's answer to The Judge.
Legendary car
:-)
Freakin beautiful car ❤
High praise.
Beautiful
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-)
@@loucostabile ThanK you
@@loucostabile it's possible can you do a story on the 1979 Buick Skyhawk with a roadhawk package ? I had one. Quite rare . Not necessarily valuable. Looked fast. Definitely was not 🤣🤣 Engine was a 3.8 V6 2 barrel . Buick should have made the right decision to put either a turbocharged V6 in it. Or a Buick 350
2nd video.. randomly stumbled upon the 1st video of the "442 W 30"

The 1970 Chevelle LS6 killer and the Hemi Killer. And it could do it with A/C, power windows, fully loaded and with moderate 3.42 gears. This is a true gentleman's muscle car. Not for a brash racer boi.
Hi When Better Cars Are Built, ....nice to keep the temperature in the car comfy too :-)
it's a beast
...just the way we like it :-)
My buddy has one. Manual transmission.
NICE!
Hi Dan, Happy to read you enjoying the cars I like sharing with you :-) Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Glad you're along for the ride, Lou

Nice restoration, looks like he used rust preventive coatings, would loved to have seen the underside. wow..
Hi Florida Alan, Happy to read you appreciate the restoration of this car :-) Lou
My goodness, if you were to encapsulate the essence of John Bonham pounding on his drum kit, in an exhaust note, this would be it right here.
NICE!
Sweet!
:-)
12:00 that Stage 1 engine is higher compression, the camshaft has a much more radical set of specs, but (per the literature) adds 0 torque and only 10 horsepower. Hmm...

Wouldn't mind it being 1970 again. Haha
Riding in this one brings you right back to 1970 :-)
Nice car, license plate holder for a standard GS that reads "Smokin' GrasS, need to fix the sail panel.

Hi Michael, Happy to read "Very nice" :-) Lou
@@loucostabile Hello Lou 🙏 I Owned a 1972 Boat Tail Rivera Stage One 455… I Bought It From a GM Worker In Columbus Ohio That Ordered It Special Very Few Of Those
A cool and comfortable ride in 1970 with the A/C on while the guys in the LS6 454 and 426 Hemi's were sweating like pigs.
NICE!
Truly, this is not my Grandfather's Buick! Actually the dash is very nice. Almost a nod to AMC?
:-)
I also had the Turbo 350 rebuilt for $250.00
Did the GSX drivers know you were racing them? Lol.
Hi Mike, Thanks for sharing, Lou
Beautiful Buick, but come on old man! You could have stepped on it at least just once!!!
Hi hippydippy, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Young man, when you build and engine, you need to slowly break it in before you "step on it". Lou
Lou, can't you get those old guys to open up the throttle for the fans ? 😞
Mark, this one just had fresh rebuild on the engine, so not ready for stomping on it yet.
I'm 70 years old and I watched 66 hemi and 67gtx in a true 24 street race the buick lost both time the stx and buick took it. One step further and took to the back mountain roads and I'm sorry to shy the gtx ran out of the buick life saw for myself just saying

Wasn't the GSX the fastest quarter mule car in 1970?
You might be right. Hoping a Viewer can confirm.
