Here's the scoop for anyone who is freaking out (like I was) before their TAD placement: You're going to get a numbing shot in the area and then you won't feel anything. Trust me, the shot is the worst part, and it's not even that bad. I only had one TAD put in, so I didn't get laughing gas or anything, and it was over in a few minutes. Absolutely no pain in the process. Yes, after the numbing agent wears off, it will be a little sore, but I just took one Ibuprofen and by the end of the day it didn't hurt at all. My TAD is in my palate, the roof of my mouth, so the worst part for me was that my tongue wouldn't leave it alone. Overall, though, my experience was great. No need to worry!
I would honestly have to disagree at least for me personally. I got the shot and still feel 8/10 pain with them sticking the screw in. It wasn’t the worst but it was definitely pretty painful. The good news is that it was a 2-3 minute tops process.
I am 25 years old and to avoid massive jaw surgery i have to get TAD's in the roof of my mouth. i too am nervous about the "pain" considering they said only a topical will be applied. I need four of them. I'm glad to read the comments about it not supposed to hurt much although i can't imagine no pain when having screws placed in your bone lol. however i am glad this technology exists because if it works for me i wont have to have jaw surgery!
i have braces and 2 micro-screw. It does not hurt while putting on because you get injected anesthesia. But after few hours, you will start feeling an unbearable pain... i had to take VERY STRONG PAINKILLERS after micro screws because i thought i would die of pain lol
Mine hurt right when I got home it was kinda bad took some painkiller and I took a nap when I woke up felt better the pain was bearable... I didn't take any painkiller before I slept tho and honestly I had the best sleep with no pain when I woke up I literally prayed for the pain to go away and let me sleep peacefully... Well I did a salt rinse for the tads and its good so.. Good luck on your journey.
I am 42 yrs old & had mine yesterday, lower jaw. It took a while & 2 times trails to find a good comfortable spot. My orthodontist told me it is an easy & quick procedure with teenagers. My only discomfort now is my tongue is always having a fight with the inner tads. the inner ones are a bit annoying when I eat or drink.
@@brokenbutterfly3178 Please check with the dentist if you can have tads with out braces. Though the video @ 00:21 shows that you can😅 I had them because 2 of my lower teeth were a bit high & had to be lowered to be at the same level with the rest. thankfully it did work. Best of luck 🍀

Can someone help? I got this on the roof of the mouth and its creating a wound on my tongue. How can i protect the tongue. Dentist says touching the screw by adding dental wax might make the screw fall off (my screw is not made of titanium so its possible it could fall off)

I was told it takes quite a long time to close large gaps using orthodontics, curious to know if those TADs accelerate the procedure at all?

Because the orthodontist uses TAC 20 Gel to numb your gum tissue, the bone does not have any nerve endings so there is no need to numb anything other than the soft tissue. The only thing you should feel when they insert it is some pressure. I just had two put in today :)
I’ve passed kidney stones and had multiple urological surgery’s and this was hands down the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my life. Completely ruined dentists and anything to do with my mouth for the rest of my life.

question, would this be changing your bite, and could potentially cause tmj pain?

It doesn’t hurt at all but putting the bands first on it hurts at first for awhile giving me headaches but after awhile you get used to it
