In the books one of Sansa's handmaidens from Winterfell, Jane Poole, was actually SA'd during the attack and became pregnant. We saw Jane briefly in the feast scene at Winterfell, she was talking with Sansa when Arya shot the food at her face...her role is one of many to be deleted/combined for the television adaptation (as often happens for time and budget reasons). Tywin's father Tytos was indeed weak. Not because he was nice but because let people take advantage of him. He was a jovial and friendly man, nicknamed the "laughing lion". But people started to laugh AT him when they realized how spineless he was. He lent lesser houses money, and when they didn't pay back he did nothing. Tywin was to a large extent shaped by growing up hearing people mock House Lannister. The whole experience is said to have made him distrust laughter, which is one of the reasons for the tension between him and Tyrion.

Regardless of anything else, Theon was indeed Starks hostage. His father did not "give him away". He was taken to ensure his father would behave.
Theon says “gave me away” bc he didn’t even try. No words or anything to stop him. His father only loved his older brothers
