    I had four Chow Chows and they all got along together with other animals (rabbits and cats, & one another). I had family over for the holidays and never had a problem with my Chow Chows being among them. It depends upon how they are raised and loved. My dogs were absolute "angels." 🥰🥰🥰🥰

    I grew up with Chows, I've never heard such a load of shite. They are incredibly loyal, protective of family and as far as exercise is concerned you need to wake them up first.

      You are so right, they are never agressive, they are protecting dogs for their family. If you dont see the difference then you need glasses. Indeed a bad review about a loyal dog. And i know because i also had them, and still have one now.

    • @naejimba

      These animals are aggressive; my father watched a group of three Chows drag a small horse down the side of the road they had killed. Just because it's an animal you've known for years and it is fine with YOU, that doesn't mean that the animal wouldn't hurt someone else. In fact, that is the defining trait of guard/hunting dogs that they are loyal to the owners and aggressive towards everything else. Instead of relying on anecdotal experience look at the STATISTICS for attacks and deaths; they are the 8th most dangerous breed in the US and Canada (excluding wolf hybrids). We have hard data that proves this and is NOT an opinion. If you want to own one... great. However we don't need delusional people who can't admit that the breed that was created for a specific behavior is capable of that same behavior. It's just common sense and if you can't come to grips with that you shouldn't have one as a pet.

    One rule for Chows, good human= good dog.. well that applies to all dogs actually. Chows are very smart and distinguished, they require respect, understand that and They will be the best dog you have ever had. 35 years owning them, think i may have some insight.
    I had worked/trained many dogs, from hunters (shorthairs, labs) and guardians. One thing is correct about these dogs, they are NOT lap dogs, they are like 4 legged humans, and you just have to understand that. One other thing, a lot of newage vets are afraid of Chows and do not know how to handle them, strange but true, dogs read your emotion/attitude, be aware of that.

I've seen quite a few videos refer to their possible aggression but I've also seen the same in regards to Staffordshire bull terriors (I know for a fact these dogs are big softies when brought up in a loving home). So could anybody who is experienced with this breed please tell me whether these videos are accurate?

      Chow Chows are a breed that is at least 2000 years old. They were bred as war dogs, to hunt, and to guard. The temperament of each individual animal is different, just like humans. So your specific dog might not be, but we can't be surprised when we see statistical data proving that they are more likely to exhibit the behaviors they were bred for... it's common sense.

    False on exercise and fetching balls. I have 2 males that liked to go for a mile or more of walking, and they were dark color but loved sun bathing. My current cream color doesn't like to be in the sun at all, and also doesn't care too much for walking. Though, she will chase anything in the back yard including butterfly out of the yard. As far as being a teddy bear, one of the male is a big teddy bear to me, the female to both myself and my husband, and all 3 of them don't like to be touch by stranger, but the 2 males will let children pet them. Most of my Chows don't like to fetch...no more than 5 times max. Training, one of the males and the female are hard to train, but super easy with my 2nd male.

      Translation: even though I've spent zero effort to look up the easily available stats that disprove it, I'm convinced that my limited anecdotal experience with a single animal is superior.
      You are delusional if you don't think that a breed specifically bred over 2000 years to be war dogs, to hunt, and to guard is more likely to exhibit the behavior they were selectively bred for. It's your responsibility and if you can't admit that you shouldn't own one.

      @@dalehoward3611 , you can't be serious.... please learn how genetics and selective breeding works. Ever hear the phrase "nature vs nurture?" Simply because the environmental factors aren't the same doesn't mean the biological factors don't exist. Actually I don't have to argue a damn thing since we have statistical data on attacks and fatalities broken down by breed per year for the US and UK that PROVES the genetics increases the statistical likelihood of the behaviors they were bred for. I thought us Americans were supposed to be the ones who are scientifically illiterate? Come now, the video actually makes a good point, the data we have backs it up... at least consider it yeah? I'm not saying don't have the dog... I'm just saying admit what the dog is and how much more likely it is to attack someone else so you can do so responsibly. I mean hell... I've known an animal that in certain situations was fine but the owner was careless, it bit someone, and had to be put down. The whole thing was just avoidable.

    When my father was little him and his sister had to pass a house with three Chow Chows on the way to and from school every day, and they would have to hit the dogs with their satchels since they just ran loose and would always chase and snap at them. Well anyway, one day they saw these three dogs had killed a horse and were dragging it back to where they lived. I think most people are delusional about just how dangerous some breeds of dogs can be. If you decide to own an animal that can harm others, it is YOUR responsibility, and if you can't prevent that you shouldn't own them.

  • @DorothyTromp-mz9uo

    • @naejimba
      @naejimba 9 месяцев назад

      Your anecdotal experience DOES NOT MATTER. We have statistical data on attacks and deaths that proves they are the 8th most dangerous breed in the US and Canada. Now, I'm not saying this is you and your dog could be wonderful, but most often this leads to situations where people don't think their pets are dangerous and could harm others and it puts everyone else at risk. Breeds of dogs were bred for specific behaviors and then everyone acts surprised when they display the behavior they were bred for. Ultimately it's the owner's responsibility, and if they can't accept that they should own the pet. Period.

    • @naejimba

      So your anecdotal experience disproves scientific data on rates of attack and deaths broken down by breed? YOUR dog might be great; but we can't be surprised when a breed bred as war dogs, to hunt, and to guard, has a tendency to exhibit the behaviors they were selectively bred for. That numbers don't lie and this is common sense. This is a dangerous breed and most of them will NOT be like your dog; even the ones that seem great around you and your family can turn on a dime on someone they don't know. It is the owner's responsibility so it bothers me that I see so many delusional comments like this.
