"Everything I do is to accommodate each individual pet's needs." Hearing her say that shows not only how good of a groomer she is, but also shows how good of a person she is and how much she cares. You're awesome @GirlWiththeDogs. My fav pet groomer.
My rescue boy's rear end is of similar floofiness. When we adopted him a year ago, he did NOT like that part of his body brushed. I was gentle and was using the appropriate brush for his coat, but he showed me teeth anyways. Every brushing session, I would see how much he'd let me do and if he showed teeth, I would stop. He's never attempted to bite me, but he was warning me that he didn't like it. We had a breakthrough this August when he was blowing coat, and I was brushing him nearly every day. He learned that I won't hurt him with the brush and that it actually feels nice. I recently gave him a bath and towel dried him as the dryer scared him. He let me brush all over and now he's the softest he's ever been. Patience and trust pays off! Thanks for the great video!
I wish i knew why my 11 year old fluff ball cat is so scared of water. It may be that she was born outside, but i got her as a baby and she only gets baths for hairballs or fleas (because i have hairball shampoo) and brush and comb when she lets me. I hate seeing her so scared, but love the way she sticks to me--its like shes saying "mom protect me its gonna hurt me", when all it is, is warm wet water...
Like my GSD with his nails. He hated having the nails on his left paw clipped and would always try to hide it. It took him years before he was comfortable enough to let us do it. From 30 minutes down to about 5-10.
I wish you had been my poodle's first groomer. He was traumatized, and I have been grooming him ever since. He is 6 now. Seriously, blessings on you for doing this with so much care.
I remember when my GSD was alive my boyfriend would always ask why she was always whining and I was like “that’s how she talks” didn’t know it was a breed thing lol. RIP Willow 😭 The goodest girl
Had a cream colored chow as a kid. She was my first 'personal' dog. Her name was Bear. Beautiful and standoffish dog. Very much a guardian breed. Not one for cuddles like other breeds, but I loved her anyway. Hard to believe it has been over 20 years since her passing. Stupid dust getting in my eyes.
My last dog was a Shepherd/Chow mix. Her colors were much more traditional German Shepherd and the tongue was a bit more subdued but the coat was exactly the same. She loved to "play bite" like no other dog.
For fifteen years of my life I had a half shepherd/half chow girl. Her loyalty and smarts were amazing. I still miss her to this day and have plans of her ashes to be mixed with mine ( as well as all my other fur family). She had the blue/black tongue with the shepherd muzzle and compact body. She was blonde to. Tash is still missed and loved.
Thank you so much for not taking the risk of a bite. You're one of the few animal advocates online I tell people kids should watch because you're such a good peer in the safety department. Seriously, thanks for that. The world could use more peers like you.
And I’d also like to add that she also did a good thing and pointed out that the muzzle wasn’t bite proof, which is another important thing to note. I was holding a dog with a coworker for a medical exam once (we were inserting an IV, he was going down for a dental cleaning and I was the “head tapper”, not actually holding the dog but distracting him so he didn’t fight the tech putting the needle in) who had on a muzzle because he was known to be a biter. Dog had on the best fitting and smallest dog muzzle we had (he was a Pomeranian), and even with my distraction and my coworker’s tight hold, once we stuck him with the IV line he went ballistic and managed to bite my coworker in the face THROUGH THE MUZZLE. Coworker was sent to urgent care for stitches and a new note was added in the computer that he needed a cat muzzle (which is plastic and covers the whole face) rather than a dog one (which is only supposed to hold the mouth shut). He’s the only dog I’ve ever put a cat muzzle on before and he’s my cautionary tale for never taking muzzles for granted.
I love her safety consciousness too! Grooming is stressful, dogs can bite when stressed that's just fact. It's also a fact that, as a big dog, had she been bitten there's a higher chance the dog would be euthanised as a result. It's not just for her safety but for the dog's too.
@@amandah2866 I've been bitten by a big dog. It wasn't his fault but he was a bully breed and I knew the city would demand his destruction. I refused to tell them which dog bit me, just that I knew it had its shots. He's a good boy, he was just very stressed out and I surprised him.
@@daemon2426 Good for you!! Yes, in my city as well, they have a zero tolerance policy for bully breeds, which infuriates me and is completely prejudice against them. I have also been "bitten" by dogs before, but it was more out of excitement than aggression.

"Special" is right. Most unpredictable dogs I met in over twenty years law enforcement. I want you to know that I respect you so much, not only for what you do to these beautiful animals by grooming them, but by raising awareness and educating us with your platform.
I grew up with a ChowChow and later volunteered at a shelter and would often have to inform people that yes even tho they are cute and fluffy they are NOT family dogs. ChowChows actually really hate children and tend to be aggressive towards other household members if they don't have a close relationship with them. My childhood one was very close to me as I was his main provider(I was homeschooled so i fed him/walked him/played with him etc) and would often growl at my dad for getting close. Which is why theyre so often found in shelters, people see a fluffy dog and dont realize how they act. You can tell his owners train him well tho bc if he wanted to bite he would have but he stopped each time.
As with every breed it depends on the animal itself. I grew up with a Chow myself, my dad bought him for me when I was 3. He was my best friend and protector and he was great with every other member of the family, even ones he didn't see very often. Socializing is also key, which many owners neglect with any breed. My current Chow Koda is fine for the groomer and goes with me to pet stores. He's never shown any aggression. People also say Chows hate cats. But if they're properly trained and raised with cats they get along with them fine. Both my past Chow and my current one are good with cats.
I grew up with this same mix. I guess his Shepard must have overcome his chowchow cuz that fog loved us kids but just us. I could put my hand in his food bowl, I could take it while he was eating. He never snapped or growled at me. He tolerated my cousins who lived next door. The rest of the neighborhood still crossed the street when they got to our house for years after he died 😂😂😂
Such beauty he is. I never knew that a German shepherd chow chow mix would be like this. Now I literally want one. This why I love this channel I got to see different breeds and mixes of dogs.

I love all the fellow chow chow owners who can confirm that they raised their dogs right and to be gentle, my purebreed chow chow is also a gentle soul especially at the vet and groomers. She is the sweetest

What a transformation!!! Such a gorgeous dog. I absolutely love your commentary. You have a very dry sense of humor, which is my favorite. Thank you for the videos, and have a Merry Christmas.
I have had 4 full blooded Chow Chows over the past 25 years. Truly a wonderful breed for the right person. I've never seen a de-shedding nozzle and was fascinated seeing it remove the hair. I pay a professional groomer to do clean up my babies. A professional groomer is a must for triple coated dogs like Chows. Great job! He looks beautiful!
Lifelong Chow Chow owner here 👋🏼 I really don’t get the hate that people are stigmatizing them with. Honestly, they are just like any other dog in the sense that they are ANIMALS. Animals aren’t predictable 100% of the time, so to the people in the comments that say that Chows are hazardous and other negative traits is just categorically wrong. Chow chows used to be as frowned upon and stigmatized like Pitbulls or Rottweilers, and that’s such a terrible mindset to have. Train your dogs, socialize them, and treat them with respect. You get what you give. Chow Chows’ sassiness, independence, and wonderful personalities mean that they are the only breed for me, but please don’t label a breed. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.
Thank you for saying this! They also don't take into account that just like all dogs even every chow chow have their individual personalities some love hugs and are friendly when socialized or love to be super active. And others enjoy independence and just being near you relaxing and calm and not petted too often. They are very intelligent dogs one of the most intelligent breeds I've even owned. And they know and sense people who are not found of them especially when it comes to trainers, groomers and at the vet. I have found only people who respect and enjoy chows who are full of patience and things have gone much smoother and my girl loves those people. Her tail wags and she feels so comfortable with them. I smile whenever someone says they own a chow or chow mix or say they love working with chows chows. That way my dog and me both feel relaxed and happy knowing she's in good hands. Any trainer that feels uneasy or annoyed with chows though I'm like no you have to be confident in training them lol and respect them too as a breed but you will not be going near my dog. Go learn some patience
I hate the stigma as well. They’re like any other dog, but due their size they can do more damage unfortunately. The important thing is training and being mindful of their personality.
SOOOO much hair, all the time, everywhere, every day on everything, hair. And the whining when she needs to be brushed like she’s being tortured, a drama queen! I’ve been brushing her since she was a puppy, but NO, it’s like the first time every time. She’s beautiful, behaved (because of a lot of parental work on our part), and a great dog, but if you have one for 12+ years it’s a commitment to living with an excited toddler with FUR so you might want to dog sit a few before committing. Our Miss B has been a special girl.

From 30 minutes down to about 5-10.
so in this case, crossing a chow with a shepherd resulted in him looking like a Chow colored Samoyed. Cute!
My thought exactly! Were going to comment then found yours 😀
I'm into genetics and find dog's genetics very interesting/intriguing
In this case it more likely that Song Qi's biological dog mother is a Chow-chow and father is a German shepherd

Had a cream colored chow as a kid. She was my first 'personal' dog. Her name was Bear. Beautiful and standoffish dog. Very much a guardian breed. Not one for cuddles like other breeds, but I loved her anyway. Hard to believe it has been over 20 years since her passing.

For fifteen years of my life I had a half shepherd/half chow girl. Her loyalty and smarts were amazing.
Agreed. Informative and a well-behaved human she is :)

They treat kids as stupider than they are.
along with my school being poorly built and poorly maintained, my classroom literally was unable to be used for like a month+ because the ceiling collapsed and flooded the room! There's horrible leaks and thus mold so the classroom smelt like mold for a LONG time, their bright idea was to fan it out into the hall and out a door..made the hall unbreathable, they stopped trying that after a bit, and when we were using the class again the carpet was STILL wet and squishy along with just missing the ceiling bit so we could the inside of the ceiling and I'm unsure if it got fixed.

That was the most impressive before and after Ive ever seen. You do such a wonderful job and your love of dogs really shows.💗
