If you don’t want to see the California map on the main screen, I believe you can change the map preview to a compass. Great video

I-Drive 6 is definitely an huge upgrade. That Apple car play is definitely going to help out not having navigation. To be honest you'll prob have better luck avoiding traffic with that instead if the OEM system
For sure, only advantage of OEM is maps work no matter the internet connection and the HUD has the directions.

It works exactly like the thumbnail looks, but if you select an individual app it will go full screen or if you go to select other apps it opens up full screen.

They are not needed. There is nowhere to connect them.

I am unsure. I didn't source mine. I got it from a company that gets them and programs them.
So weird the GPS isn’t working…looks like you have to move to california now 😂. All jokes aside, CarPlay and Waze are worth it by itself 💯
Yeah, BMW and their ever changing way of doing things. At least I could get Carplay which is a win.
Interesting that gps would no longer work that’s actually why I went mmi for my carplay
I know some MMI don’t use actual Bluetooth though. It uses the Aux input. I just prefer OEM. Was looking at MMI, but not sure it would work if the main headunit is damaged.

Has to be coded. Company I bought it from did it for me.

So I Upgraded it, and now I have no Sound. I have the Alpine Sound System. What I did wrong?
I am unsure is it coded correctly and did you get from the same source I did? I just plug and played and they did all the coding for me. Possibly one of the connections in the wrong slot? Just thinking of what could have gone wrong. Since it’s a retrofit maybe the head unit supplied has an issue.

You have to code the VIN to it and might be some other needed. The place I bought it from does all the coding for you.
