    UPDATE I contacted Shower Enclosures of America using the form on their website - www.seamerica.com They are sending out free vinyl sweep replacements, even though I’m up in Canada, awesome!
    in the video, I dissemble the shower stall in our 2011 Keystone Cougar fifth wheel trailer. With over 6 years of full time living under our belts the seals were showing signs of wear and old age.
    Unfortunately I can't find replacement vinyl sweeps for the framed glass door, so I'm forced to improvise. I use a sweep off a different style door and modify it to fit.
    I also clean off the old silicone caulking and reseal it with new stuff. Then repair a loose skylight seam with Eternabond Tape.
    If anyone knows where to get the OEM door sweep let me know in the comments. Much appreciated, Ray

    "it's old and worn out, but that's enough about the wife, we have a shower door to fix."
    I've actually come to appreciate (grudgingly) all the issues/maintenance I've had with my used travel trailer and used boat. It's another notch in the belt and now I can help other people.

    I have a 2010 Hampton by Crossroads that uses this shower. My door is out of alignment and hits the opening side at the bottom.I had my dealer order me 2 wipers for that door. Costs me nearly $40 with shipping!! I looked at that link with the reverse engineering instructions on realigning the door. What a bunch of baloney! An adjustable hinge would have been so much simpler for not only the "do it yourselfer" but even the RV mechanic that has to tear things loose just to align a shower door! My next RV will not have this brand. Thanks for the video!! Very well done!!

    Hi Ray! It looks like you done a good job on the shower door rubber slips. Likely will work just fine! I enjoy working on my 30' fifth wheel trailer. Your systems you and I are alike. I once had to completely rebuild my door in the forest, funny me I need one saw, my friend was coming over with his saw to camp. I had been thinking to redo the door again from home, just not needed yet. I found the wood I needed at the forest camping area. I never like staying in campground forest only for 2 weeks, just have to go home. Thanks for the video to enjoy! -Fred

    I'm happy with my small rectangular tub n shower with the cheap curtain. Even in our small Haus the glass stuff just gets in our way. Always banging into it especially when using the back scrubbers in the shower or drying off n dressing when outside the showertub. Anyway Ray I got the stainless steel kitchen sink in and it really looks like something to admire now. Actually looking like a home, like a real kitchen. Think I had the same plastic kitchen sink you have from what I saw of it in Ur video. What a relief to know it's ok to put a hot pan in. But I'm sort of unhappy with the way my new, as of just this spring, On the Go double standard water softener and filters worked. Still had lots of junk come out of my 6gal. hot water tank when I removed the anode rod a couple days ago. Anode rod also seemed just as corroded as before I used the softener. The electric heating element seemed to have less gunk on it, that's about all. Was at same camp entire time and only passed at most 300 gallon of somewhat hard water through. Litmus paper says softener is working. I'm stumped and calling the Dave Branham at RV Waterfilterstore who is full time RVer and sold me it all. Enjoy!

    • @LoveYourRV

      Thanks for the updates. Shame about the softener. :(

      Love Your RV Yep, definitely. I'm a low maintenance, ultra durable, lowest cost, simplicity, once and for ever type of person. Ever hear of the RV Armor roof system or the FlexArmor roof system? I mean these coatings have lifetime guarantee! !!! I'm just thinking after my 2015 EPDM roof ages another 5-8 or so years why not just coat it with something like that? ? I've already touched up a couple spots with the Sikaflex 715 self level stuff, but rather than go wild continously patching up spots, there's a point in time it may be easier and simpler to go another route like a system mentioned above. Also really interested in the clear non-metal propane tanks like the ones by VikingCylinders. Not sure but I think they have a tank about the size that's typical on typical travel trailers( two 20 pounders or two 30 pounders) Somehow we must create so it's all much cheaper, simpler, easier, stronger and better for all. Prost

    Ray, we just bought our first used RV and the one thing we need to fix is the shower. Thank you for all your videos, they are always very helpful. I do have a question about caulking the shower surround...do you need to place caulk where the shower pan (base) meets up with the shower surround (wall)? On yours, it doesn’t look like you put caulking there. Thanks again.

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  4 года назад

      You're welcome. :) No I didn't caulk there since the manufacture didn't, it looks like the wall overlaps with the pan enough to prevent any leaks.

    Easier to put a bead of caulk along the seam, the dip your index finger in some water a run you finger down the seam. You will collect excess caulk on your finger so plenty of paper towels are needed.

    Not so sure I would have worried about the sweep at the top, since it is all open a couple inches above that seal, but hey that's just me. Question, did you calk the inside, outside, or both sides of the shower screen? I just had an inlay put in my shower base to repair a crack and removed the shower screen so the installed would have easy access to install the inlay. I have reinstalled the shower screen and now need to caulk it.

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  Год назад

      I did what the OEM did and caulked anywhere the metal of the glass enclosure met the plastic of the walls and pan inside and out. Where the plastic shower wall and pan overlap each other I didn't caulk since that's the way the OEM did it. Figure it must be to prevent condensation getting trapped behind there or something or maybe allow for trailer frame flexing to take place.

  • @skipwatson1951

    I don't know if you'll see this, Ray, since this is an old video, but I have the same shower enclosure you have. Mine is leaking under the frame, so I need to take off the whole frame and reseal, like you did. Problem is, I took out all screws, cut all caulk, ant still can't get it off the walls. No other video on YT showing how. How did you get the enclosure off the walls?

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  Год назад

      Mine had aluminum rails screwed to the wall then then the main enclosure screwed to them. After removing the screws and slicing through the caulk they came off pretty easily. Maybe your was caulked behind the rails as well kind of gluing them on.

      This one is also an Oxygenics from the same company that makes the Body Spa, but a newer model. I changed it about two years ago. www.loveyourrv.com/summer-rv-interior-renovation-project-part-three/ It has the same powerful stream but also four others to choose from. It's work well. Some people don't like the fact that the shut-off valve doesn't completely shut the water off, kind of dribbles. I think the company does that so no chance of scalding when the water comes back on. Folks can always install a separate full shut-off though if they want.

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  5 лет назад

      Took 8-10 TEK screws out and cut away the silicone caulking and the whole thing could be pulled out.

    • @johnniemo
      @johnniemo 5 лет назад +1

      @@LoveYourRV Thanks. Mine was stuck. Even after pulling out the screws you can access from inside the shower, it was still stuck. I ended up just pulling. On one side the entire mounting rail pulled out from the stud. On the other side I pulled as hard as I could and it slipped off the rail. If there is one thing I've learned about Jayco its that they must live by the mantra "get it done". The builders cut corners everywhere. They optimize everything to make the build faster and it comes at the expense of any sort of maintenance or longevity.

    We are having a hard time finding the right caulk. Can you please tell me what you used? Our shower tub/pan flexes and seems to crack the caulk within a week or two after we apply it which then causes water to leak down the wall into the basement we have tried a few different kinds but none have worked well so far.

      Something else must be going on there. you shouldn't have enough flex to tear open the caulking. Is this a factory setup or someone's DIY shower pan install? Maybe your pan has a hairline crack.

    how did you get all the old caulking residue off the (soft) shower stall

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  6 лет назад

      It actually came off pretty easily, most of it peeled right off and then I used a plastic scraper for the leftover bits and finished it with a little Goo Gone, then Windex.

    How did the tool work for caulking? Where did you get the tool and what was it called? Interested in using it of our shower! Thanks.

    I don’t know if this would work - but here is a link. . . Https://www.swisco.com/24-sweep-drip/pd/Lavatory-Replacement-Hardware/10-324?gclid=EAlalQobCMigvTytNeF1wlVyVuGCh0UOg8jEAQYAyABEgl4RVDBwE. They also have a 30” shower sweep with drip rail as well. Not sure which one would work for you. Hope this helps.

    Looks like a poor design to begin with as you have so much separation between the shower pan and the shower walls. 🤔

      My theories. It is designed to prevent condensation from forming between the RV wall and the shower enclosure wall. There is not much insulation from cold outside air because of the thin RV walls, so I guess they didn't want to seal it up but rather let it breathe behind there. There is quite a bit of overlap between the pan and shower wall. Another reason for it may be due to the RV frame flexing as it travels or is lowered onto the hitch. Maybe they want to allow for a slight bit of movement. Cheers, Ray

    Hey Ray check out this thread www.forestriverforums.com/forums/f34/shower-door-sweep-seal-52383-2.html on the second page of the thread. They seem to be talking about the same issue you have and they posted a name and phone number of a RV retailer where you might be able to purchase it. Not sure if its the same shower door sweep but sounds like it.

      Same as your house shower. If the water doesn't drip or splash outside the shower it isn't really needed.
