The podcast Conan O' Brien Needs a Friend is also really good if you want to hear actors/musicians/comedians talk more informally and talk about their creative process. Julia Louis-Dreyfus actually made an appearance on the first season.
Just gotta say... watching for 20 seasons, Sean is the transition master, his ability to just chat with a guest and then stir with complete confidence the question to any topic is amazing

May I just take a moment to appreciate the music/audio editors here. That triumphant they-made-it-through feeling thst comes at the end of each episode... for Sean, there's just him and the guest in conversation; which he leads to a close that also helps the guest feel accomplished while creating a segue to the guests plug. But the editors... they cover the entire episode with music that emphasizes the vibe of the conversations. And they follow the moment so well, that we fully understand how both people felt throughout the video... without even noticing how well-placed every piece of audio is, driving that feeling home.
You guys get so many ridiculously talented people, and don't squander the opportunity by throwing softball questions. You ask questions which a) Give us better insights on the person, and b) introduce us to people we never heard of. Keep up the great work!
Isn't perspective an interesting thing? I found her to be boring and not as funny as I was hoping. Still, given the context I suppose it would have been a challenge for her.
I have been a fan of Julia Louis-Dreyfus since her days on SNL, VEEP, to the MCU playing Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. She is a fantastic actress and a wonderful person. She is so genuine. It’s given a chance I would love to meet her in person to have a five minute chat with. I have much respect for her.
Julia is as good as people get. She is just a great example of hard work and dedication to the arts. Sure, she could have worked for the family business and taken an easy, very lucrative path, but she chose to go for the impossible and made it work without becoming an ego maniac in the process.
Have to admit toward the mid-point, I thought Julia might be the first woman to tap out (at least I think that record is still intact), but she hung in and made it to the finish line!
I love her podcast! Episodes don’t come out fast enough 😂 I’ve been suggesting her podcast to everyone. She just said the F word, just like in her podcast. And she calls her mom (mommy) after each interview Love it!

he always knows more about his guest then his guest knows about themselves. its funny seeing their reaction to some of his way out there unknown questions
Julia looks amazing. I love that she has taken care of herself, aged naturally, and continues to nail it. As always, Sean is just such a knowledgeable and comforting host. He's legit talented.
She’s a stinkin cutie
Really? It looked to me like she just had work done and her face wasn't moving much.
id yada yada with her 😍
Psst, that's not her real hair color. She looks lovely, but that is not what "natural aging" looks like...
Pssst. I was talking about her face@@ashleyking695 .
I love her pure focus. She didnt go for the milk right away and still managed to answer the questions and kept her composure. Thats a true professional.
what
She clearly didn't love the sauces, but was so game through it all. Much respect!
Sean is a legendary interviewer and always seems to bring the best out of every personality they have on the show! Absolutely delivers every time!
I just love how Sean makes his guests comfortable. Never trying to outshine them - if they just nibble at their wings - he will nibble too - if they clean the wings - he will do that too - he is truly amazing!
*Except with Khaled. Sean ate all his wings just to show him up. And it was very much called-for
I love how this show is like a behind the scenes insight to actors and how they came to be where they are now, I would love behind the scenes of this show like prep and afterwards, such a great show and great guests and Sean who is the born for this and I am a true fan of this show
Sean is my favorite host ever. I love how he dives deep and the guests are usually surprised at how much he knows!
Same. I would love a bts show. What's always fascinated me the most is how they get the guest. Do they reach out to celeb's people, do their people reach out to the show, or is it a mixture of both? Are there cases where the celeb tells their people "I really want to do this show or are they told It will be good for your image/optics? My ideal scenario is a documentary-like show following an episode from the start of the process until the end followed by the premiere of the finished episode.
The podcast Conan O' Brien Needs a Friend is also really good if you want to hear actors/musicians/comedians talk more informally and talk about their creative process. Julia Louis-Dreyfus actually made an appearance on the first season.
Just gotta say... watching for 20 seasons, Sean is the transition master, his ability to just chat with a guest and then stir with complete confidence the question to any topic is amazing
i mean, kind of a lame cheat that they call it "20 seasons" when there wasn't actually a season each year
"20 seasons" makes it seem like the show has been running longer than it really has.. ehh, cheap advertising, imo
She doesn't hesitate for one second about not "Dabbing" on the last dab. "I am not gonna do what you just did...I am not worried at all". Julia knows what she's about and doesn't do anything she doesn't want to do. Gotta admire her.
At minute 13: "By the way, are you allowed to swear on this show?" 🤣🤣
not just a national treasure, but an international one. there's so much to love about Julia! biggest love from Australia x
You've got to be kidding. What an arrogant, one dimensional performer. She is terrible.
She’s been so good for so long. She’s like the Tom Brady of comediennes! And unlike Tom she achieved GOAT status without shilling for any Crypto scammers…
She's supporting the abolishment of 2A rights in America. She's an absolute idiot.
“…Permanently disfigured”, best line! 😂 LOL
Julia is such a legend. Forget her status as a female actor/comedian, she's just one of the best to ever make people laugh. I have a huge crush on her.
Maybe someone has already suggested this or you've already done it. But there should be a compilation of "That's a good question"...its always genuinely stated and a testament to the quality of the interview 👍🏼 🔥
Dude right? The way the interviewees always look so shocked and happy when Sean brings up something. Like look at Julia's eyes when Sean brings up her college acting stuff. Pure respect and gratitude.
There are over 9, 15 min long videos just about this.
I like how she asked if she can cuss after cussing all thru the episode to that point 😆
Between Sean’s talent for interviewing and watching famous people be in a situation where they struggle to keep up a facade, I LOVE this show.
Huge appreciation for Julia doing this challenge! She is most of us with a mild palate for hot wings! And she hung in there! Kudos for her! But I can only imagine the conversation with her publicist in the car home! 😂
I'm 37 and even since the early Seinfeld days I have had a major crush on her. She is still absolutely beautiful all these years later, and she has an amazing sense of humor as well as extremely intelligent. She is the total package and then some.
My favorite thing about her is that her family has generational wealth and she doesn’t have to work, but she is one of the hardest working people in the biz.
You could have just said she's Jewish yet still works.
@@Mr.Sr.Jr.And you could just say you’re a knuckle-dragging anti-semite. That works even better!
She has Jewish ancestry on her paternal side, but she’s not Jewish herself
@@Mr.Sr.Jr. wow just some casual anti-semitism to spice up the comments? that's a choice
@@elisam.2896 Stop virtue signaling. I've gotten along well with and have shown respect to every jew I've ever encountered in my life, they are a great people. You can put your head in the sand and pretend racial stereotypes dont exist if you want to, but I live in the real world. I'm not afraid to speak about cultural or racial differences as long as long as it is not in a hateful manner.
Also there is nothing negative about saying that a group of people are stereotypically exceptional at financial economics, they are winning the "game of life." If anything what I said was pro-semitism...
Wow, the more famous people used to open and/or close the season, now every episode is BIG! Very happy for you.
I know the hot wings and the guests are the selling points, but I always come for the great questions Sean asks. He's the best in his game
Man I love Julia but this show always brings me back to your channel. Your interview skills are phenomenal.
From A list celebs to the POTUS herself...this show has come so far. 🤯
So true. Looking back at the caliber of guests in S1 versus today, it's amazing.
I love how she has him go first in the latter half there's that sense of comfort at least they're sharing in the suffering but he does it first
She is so naturally charming and funny. Love her. Well prepared and charming host as well!
She's great. I've always loved her work and her comedy. I never realized until this interview how absolutely adorable she is. What a treasure!
Julia looks timeless. As if she doesn't age at all. Love her.
I reckon she’s probably a vampire…
Might be a vampirebuy she definitely ages...
She looks amazing!
Yeah right
She’s beautiful.
Sean, your interviewing skills and early recognition of Julia's struggle to eat hot sauce was outstanding! You guided her to the end with the warmth of parent holding a child's hand in a scary situation. You are growing with your hosting skills and it shows!
A truly amazing and talented woman. Have loved being entertained by her comedy since the spit takes on Saturday night live till right up to this show.
Yikes I thought his hosting was pretty bad ngl
JLD is so pure, she’s the first guest i didn’t want to see subjected to Da Bomb 😭
When the guest goes "Are you going to eat them too?" you know you're in for a good interview :'D
Just gasped out loud seeing this episode suggestion. I've always ADORED Julia's work. Can't wait to see her interview.
She's been doing the interview/podcast rounds recently cause of the movie!
Watching this reminds me of how influential Julia has been in the industry. Others could have been cast for Elaine's Seinfeld role and superbly owned the character but in hindsight Julia set the bar too high for almost anyone to reach. Jerry would be an interesting guest but let's shoot for the great Larry David (or Jason Alexander) next 😃
Larry David and spicy food would make for hilarious interview.
Lol Larry David and Conan are both contenders for an amazing show
Jason Alexander or Larry David would make the show
Oh my God if he could get LD....I'd lose it.
Oh man, LD would be soooo good. He would pick apart this show so hard
This lady is 60+ and has a crazy net worth but she still out here looking great and still hustling.
Greatly under-exaggerated wealth too due to her father's passing. She's a literal billionaire.
Yeah, she looks likes a millions bucks! ...of plastic surgery!
I love Julia Louis-Dreyfus! So glad you got her on. Such awesome questions by Sean and crew!
I think Sean's superpower isn't the great questions, or his ability to make his guests feel at ease, it's his ability to listen.
I was waiting for her to give him a big push and say Shut up, like he was Kramer!
JLD, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are the trifecta of true female brilliance in comedy
Ms. Pat.
I would put Kate McKinnon in there too.
They should all do Hot Ones. Mama Julia has led the way!
Kristin Wiig too ❤
has beens Tina okay amy not! Try Rosanne she was the best by far and Christine Applegate has something they all didnt she was HOT!
" 'No' is a complete sentence." 🤯 Hitting me with that sage insight, thanks Julia.
Sean: “Do you have a barometer…”
Kramer pops in: “It’s pronounced thermometer.”
I’m loving her podcast, Wiser Than Me. It’s about time older women had a platform to be smart, awesome, cool, honest, menopausal, wrinkly and funny. I’m happy to see her in Hot Ones.
Every generation has them, you just didn't care enough to notice the one before you
@@furlough2327 truth for everything
"It's about time." Literally, anybody can start a podcast for christ sakes. It's not something that is held hostage and deprived from women. 🤦♂️
She was the definition of a good sport. She obviously isn't someone who eats sauces like Da Bomb but still managed to make it through. Well done to her.
She obviously isn't someone who eats anything spicier than ketchup, but she was absolutely a good sport! ^_^
Duh if you take micro bites😂😂😂
She was great. But, just wanted to point out, NO ONE eats sauces like Da Bomb. Have you tasted it? It's the definition of "hot garbage". It has no redeeming qualities, like flavor.
I'm so thrilled Julia was a guest. She's super funny and talented.
Did a great job of chowing on the wings. Slightly disappointed she didn't do the final dab, but I'm not the one going through what she's going through.
Proud of you Little Giggles.
You rocked it!
She's taking "microbites".
Watch David Blaine. He's Batman.
He even eats a Carolina reaper.
Maybe the dingo ate your hot wing.
🤩
I have lost my hot wing, the poor baby
I love that party scene from Seinfeld!
Asking Elaine about being Elaine is definitely a bucket-list item for any interviewer. Amazing.
Thank God you asked a Veep question Sean. One of the greatest shows of all time.
She was so cute laughing and taking little terrified bites of the last three. It's clear shes genuine and fun to be around.
Julia : "Are you gonna eat it too?"
Translation: "I know absolutely nothing about this show, Sean"
She is SO funny and handled the wings of death like a BOSS! Great interview.
So I am supposed to believe that JLD is tougher than Coolio was? Dude made it through but had a rough time. This is staged and watered down now.
I haven't seen this yet and I already know it will be amongst my favorites. Julia is one of the greatest of all time.
Love how the Hot Sauce helped her to be more relaxed near the end. Sean always best instinct on how to connect with the guests. Well done.
Julia was a highly unexpected guest in my book, but I’m still here for it.
I agree:)
She was scheduled on it a few years ago with Will Ferrell but backed out that morning because of some issue and will had to do it alone.
You guys get so many ridiculously talented people, and don't squander the opportunity by throwing softball questions. You ask questions which a) Give us better insights on the person, and b) introduce us to people we never heard of. Keep up the great work!
She is the funniest person you ever had. She take no BS. And her cynicism is the just brilliant
Isn't perspective an interesting thing? I found her to be boring and not as funny as I was hoping. Still, given the context I suppose it would have been a challenge for her.
I didn't find this interview funny, I like the interview but definitely wasn't funny
I wouldn't trust her if she is Contessa Valentina Allegra DeFontaine.
.
Luv ya Julia and I'm so impressed you took the challenge and survived ...nothing better than sweating behind the ears !!!
She took it like a champ! Such a humble person
I love her podcast! Episodes don’t come out fast enough 😂 I’ve been suggesting her podcast to everyone. She just said the F word, just like in her podcast. And she calls her mom (mommy) after each interview Love it!
I love Julia, praying for her good health and success in any battle she faces❤🧡💛
‘The dorm room section of the show is coming up.’ 😂😂
