I think Paul Rudd hit the nail on the head in his episode when he said "You're a really good interviewer, you don't even need the hot sauce." And he's absolutely right.
He said in an interview with I believe Kelly Clarkson that him, and his Creative Partner Chris, do the wings to make the interviews more entertaining.

It's refreshing seeing the guests be so "normal" while being interviewed by Sean. They kinda seem genuine compared to most I see.

Pain is an equalizer. When your mouth is on fire, you hardly have the focus to put up a personality, so it's easier to just be yourself and focus on answering the questions instead.
You could tell that Sean instantly became Anthony Mackie’s favorite interviewer of all time. When you ask someone about what’s obviously one of their favorite hobbies and give them the floor to just go on about it, it really stands out to that person. Best interviewer in the business IMO
I mean especially for Mackie who’s had to do the Marvel press tours and get asked “how did you get your start” or “what is your favorite superhero” or “what was it like rapping with Eminem” over and over and over again. It’s gotta be exhausting. And just letting him talk about something he’s passionate about without deriding or interrupting must be like a breath of fresh air for Mackie. That’s why I love Sean and why so many people he interviews love him too.

its what happens when you ask someone something they want to talk about instead of what causes headlines,. I mean anthony talking about cooking fish wont make massive headlines but it certainly makes the interview that much better to watch

I always get giddy when the guests like a question Sean asks! Sometimes they're on a massive promo wheel and it must be exhausting to have the same questions asked again and again and then they get a question they'd actually love to answer and it shows in their face! Hot Ones is so wholesome despite the brutal wings

All they do is ask their agent "who raised ______?" Then they phone that person and flatter them into giving information on questions that would reflect positively on the Stars character, and that the guardian spills their guts because they want the public to see the good in people in a world that wants bad. Journalists know this but they know good doesn't sell. Media is trash except this excerpt.

Ive said it and ill say it again. Sean was born to be an interviewer. Like the undertaker said, they always answer the same questions over and over again, but sean spices it up and asks out of the box questions. Must be refreshing for these celebrities not having to just put yourself on repeat mode

Sean has to be the greatest interviewer of all time; I've never heard anyone get nearly as many compliments on the questions asked as this guy. I think every talk show host and interviewer needs to study this guy.

@@prestonpersonal yeah but I'd say Joe is in another category he's more adult oriented where as Shaun keeps it light so all ages can enjoy without subjecting the younger viewers to vulgarity and to many adult concepts.
Joe Rogan is a great host because he is thoughtful and intelligent, and knows how to read his guest and keep the show flowing, a talent shared by other comics, such as Craig Ferguson, both are very entertaining to watch. But none of those guys gets the compliments the way Sean does; that guy is just a master of asking the right questions and doing his homework like no other.

As a man that loves football and supports Galatasaray I just knew he was going to talk about a football match. Nothing that comes close imo.

its crazy how even in civilized middle european countries you hear stories about clubs in remote villages that have rivalries where thd fans beat themselves to deaths edge...this sport actually attracts the biggest cavemen supporters in some places on earth
What's so impressive is that the questions aren't just "oh look I found this random piece of information to shock you that I found it" but it's finding ways to shape that deep research into genuinely interesting and relevant questions. Always so good!
Honestly, as an interviewer, I think his ability to make sure that the GUEST actually HAS FUN is soooo underrated!!! He does such an amazing job because the interview is SO much more dynamic when the person being interviewed is intrigued by the questions and clearly is excited to answer!
I've never really been a fan of watching the more unknown celebrities, but I always appreciate these complication videos that show it doesn't matter how big the celebrity is, Sean will research the hell out of you.
The fact that everyone always seems to be enjoying themselves and then getting surprised by the level of questions is a testament to how well done these shows are. Kudos to all involved it really shows through on the screen

You can see how the guests just light up and completely change when they get a question they've never heard before, and that they know is based on Sean's extensive research. It makes for such better content than the monotony of other interviews.
I have not heard a single bad thing about The Undertaker. Nothing but resounding praise every time I hear his name brought up by people that know him.

Never underestimate the power of a great question -- makes you feel seen, understood, and cared for. Not just a great show for the wings and the responses, but great show for the questions and interactions. Sean Evans may be the most underrated interviewer alive.
We're all just NPCs and Sean is the main character, he's on his 80th playthrough as of now
The producers on this show are the BEST. The questions are always so interesting. Watching people sweat over Da Bomb (spoilers, they don't like it) wouldn't be half as interesting without these great questions. KUDOS.

He actually puts thought and care into his guests and treats them as actual people, with interests. They are so happy to be in a conversation and not an interrogation.
I love this idea for interviews, nothing too formal, just two friendly people having some spicy wings together and chatting about stuff. Sean also makes it fun with his impressive questions.
Every time someone acknowledges the questions quality, I feel proud of Sean like he’s my son 🥲❤️
I guess the trick is, ask the question the celebrity wants to answer, but is never asked.
I think the whole point of the show, and what makes it so special, is that it’s so humanizing. Celebrities get asked the same ten questions in almost every interview they do. Sean, on the other hand, takes his time to genuinely get to know them. It’s amazing.
That's should be the proper way of doing it. Though I can't blame the mainstream media for doing the common questions. They're usually running on limited time. The Hot Ones platform provides a better avenue for more humanizing interviews. It just comes off as a friendly conversation.
Big question though: where does Sean get his info!?

Although constructive criticism is great, those critics that get popular by only pointing out flaws have ruined the point of critics. The quote is a powerful statement if taken the way its was intended.

The way all the guests truly enjoy the interview makes me see them in a different way, more relaxed and happy to be there. Sean and his team really did something amazing here.
When Sean starts a question with “I know that you…” just run… he knows too much
This is the only interview format I’ve seen where the guest’s eyes light up and they are genuinely excited to answer the question.
Sean evans and his team are changing the game and setting a new standard in interviews. People won’t settle for the late night shitty banter anymore we want this!

About Thundercat's question, I've always found it amazing how much of a difference the soundtrack makes. Even if you aren't actively listening to it, it brings the whole thing together. Try turning the music off during a cutscene or an epic fight and see how big of an impact it has. Dead Space is a great example.
I find that sometimes taking away a soundtrack during a scene can make it just as good.
Doom especially the newer one just tell everything about the game just by his soundtrack
There are games and games. Some are built to be without almost any music, and some add an enormous feeling to the game with the music. As he said, I cannot picture having the same adrenaline rush in mario when I pick up the star if it wasnt for the fast, cheery music.
Another good example is the 1st Halo game, the ending scene

Low key Sean Evans is the best interviewer of our generation, maybe of all time. He doesn't just ask the standard "what is it like being so great" fodder, he digs and find questions the person really *enjoys* answering.
I love how excited the guests get when he asks a really great question about a passion outside of what’s made them famous.

Sean is a conversationalist, even on videos where he’s not interviewing and just being a guest his questions take cues from what the other person just said
I love that Anthony Mackie's little bit, he's so happy to get to talk about fishing on the set of the Avengers movies and it adds so much when you watch Falcon & Winter Soldier and see that for his character fishing was a large part of his life before he joined the military. Reality feeding fiction in a very nice way that rewards those in the know

Undertaker is actually wholesome outside of the ring. Very cheery guy. I remember he was all smiles and giggle and then a kid asked him to do the eye. His face change almost instantaneously.
The genius thing about the spicy sauces is it breaks down the defenses of the interviewee, thus making them more susceptible to certain questions. Genius genius.
It's always so good to see the guests faces brighten up when they get hit with a great question. People just love when they are asked about something they really are passionate and they don't get the chance to talk about.

Sean and crew always have the best questions, he's severely underrated as an interviewer just because of the "joke" premise of his channel, but he is SUPER solid and always brings the research. Just well done to all the crew, really.
I know Sean has said that before an interview he researches them for like 48 hours but I’d like to know after the interviews how much info he still remembers, like if he sees one of these celebrities a few years down the line how much info does he still retain about them that he can drop mid conversation.

This is such a brilliant interview regime. Breaking the celebrities down physically with hot sauce, then hitting them intelligently or emotionally with amazing questions. It creates some of the most true and vulnerable moments

Sean is hands down the Best interviewer there is right now! He has a care and genuine intrigue in his guests.
The feeling I get from Sean is that he always wanted to be an interviewer, but he saw how stale the field was getting and was determined to put his spin on it. Hence the hot wings and the really well researched and original questions
It must be such a breath of fresh air for these people in interviews. I imagine most interviewers ask the same old questions all the time but Sean and the team come up with some of the greatest questions

The only caveat is similar to the "Who would win" threads including Batman. Given enough prep time, they're unmatched. Given prep time.
Undertaker kind of explains why Sean is a great interviewer. He knows all the questions these people get asked all the time so he goes into asking questions that they’d love to answer but interviewers don’t ask them since it doesn’t give them any kind of headline.
