    A very cleverly designed blind bidding system that includes a moving tie breaker, and where players must choose between improving their bidding tokens, and obtaining the cards that they're seeking. Very good explanation and playthrough, as always, many thanks for creating this video.

    I recently bought this after playing at a store. I love the game so much that I'm watching just to see it being played again.

    I'm always impressed by Dave's teaching skills. After watching him explaining the rules of a game I'm just ready to go. Thank you Dave and the whole crew for this enjoyable and clarifying playthrough.

      It's interesting to hear you say that. I actually find him quite painful to watch. Whenever he's a part of an episode I move onto the next one. From my feeling he is aggressive in his recommendations for next steps, especially with Nikki. And while it's likely unfair to say, his incessant aggressive blinging is off-putting.

    This game has that lovely 7 Wonders set collection feel. Would love to give it a go. Love the post game discussion on the channel, really elevates the content above a “simple” (!) play through :)

    I've seen videos discussing this game but didn't understand the praise until now. "Slick" well put Linco. As always, great rules overview and playthrough. Enjoy seeing you all discover new aspects/hidden depth as you play. Thanks!

      @lystic9392 2 года назад

      Yeah it does seem very slick. When I watched this I was really interested in all of it except the scoring at the end. And it's not because they used the app but the point salad where you have 15 numbers to add together is not really my thing. I guess that is almost a necessary evil of set collection games.

    This play-through introduced the game to me. After watching it, I immediately went to play it on BGA. After a frustrating first few plays where I just couldn't pin down any tactics, I'm now slightly addicted to it. It's such an intriguing, balanced game and very enjoyable. Thanks, folks!

    Nice card drafting-set collecting game...and it has a good theme that seems very well implemented. Two thumbs up. I'm betting the dwarf cards were all originally full color, but they decided to turn the images to b/w to help the color flags stand out...at least, that's what I thought when looking at the over-head camera...those flags just pop in a sea of gray, and I'm not sure they would stand out as much if the cards were full color.

    Im really glad to see a play through of this game. Ive owned it for several months and just acquired Thingvellir- the expansion. Its seems pretty crucial, especially in the games Ive played, that you CAN NOT let anyone run away with the miners. They accrue a lot of points very quickly. Keep them as even as you can or lose to your miner grabbing friend!

    The size of the deck varies based on player count. And by the way, it’s really is easy to run a Dwerg strategy. If you get a second and third one, you get massive points, which has seemed a bit OP in my many games.
    And yes, I recognize that pursuing nearly any path can get over powered. Scores are very high in this game.
    And yes, I recognize that if everything is overpowered, then nothing is.
    This being a RUclips comment, I feel like I have to defend every word I type.

    At 40:25ish, Nikki goes first in the round based on her 11. She plays her turn. Lincoln had played a 10 and would be second. When Nikki finishes her turn, Lincoln turns over his two bag coins (0 & 3) which he should not have done. Then he does and exchange. Not only should he not have done and exchange since his 10 was the active coin, he then upgrades the 3 to an 8, when a 6 was the next highest available coin.

    can you use thrud as a 13 point miner? That seems insanely powerful.

    • @burnsfamily4354
      @burnsfamily4354 2 года назад +1

      No, the rules say that prior to scoring, she is placed in the command zone and counts as 13 points, I believe. It’s under the section that explains Thrud specifically.

    I really love this game!! I also bought Thingvellir at Spiel! Just one question... if you don't have the +1 higher or a -1 lower upgrade? Do you get no upgrade? Or do you take +2/-2?
    Also, if you take the +3/+5 upgrade card do you upgrade a coin immediately or can you wait for the end of round coin upgrade and then do a double upgrade?
    sorry if this doesn't make sense hahah

    • @joaorobalo7594

      @@joaorobalo7594 thank you!! And how let’s say I have a 5 & 10 in my pouch. I would get the 15 coin but it’s not there, the 16 isn’t there either nor is the 14. Then what do I do? 😊

    • @joaorobalo7594
      @joaorobalo7594 2 года назад +3

      @@rgott3844 you always get the highest available coin above it. So if you were to get the 15, but it's not there and neither is the 16, you get the 17. The only situation in which you get a lower coin would be the top coins, if you trade for 25 buts it's taken already, there is no higher up, so you get whatever is available below it.

    Question: at 36 minutes, when Nicky gets a +5 to her 5 token isn't she to add to 5+5 to the 11 to claim a 21?

    • @hologos_
      @hologos_ 2 года назад

      Nope, upgrading a coin with +X doesn't make you sum the bag. You can upgrade the one already assigned to a tavern (which would make it behave different and thus confusing). The sum happens only with 0 coin (or the green 3).

    you dont get a hero until your 2 row is complete. Davd should not have gotten a hero in the 28th minute

    • @msmilder25
      @msmilder25 2 года назад +14

      Incorrect, according to the rules: "After placing a Dwarf or Hero card, if the player completes a set of the 5 different colors, they can take any of
      the available Hero cards. If a player completes a 2nd line, they can have a 2nd Hero card and so on. In order to be eligible to recruit a hero card, (since cards can be removed from the game) the number
      of complete sets in your army must be at least 1 greater than the number of Hero cards you have." which means if you have no heroes (at the beginning nobody does) one greater than zero = 1 complete set, which Dave completed at that time getting his 5th of the first level rank.
