- 🥧 OLD SCHOOL CHICKEN AND CORNBREAD DRESSING 🥧
This something that my mom cooked every mothers day and i would make sure i cooked it for her as she got older
This is a recipe i have been using for over 40 years
I guarantee if you follow this recipe exactly
Your dressing will be moist flavorful and delicious
RECIPE
1 pan OLD SCHOOL CORNBREAD ( crumbled)
2 quart OLD SCHOOL TURKEY stock
1 cup chopped celery
1 cup chopped onions
2 tablespoons chopped sage
2 tablespoons chopped thyme
2 tablespoons chopped rosemary
1 cup chopped turkey neck meat( previously cooked for 1 hour)(optional)
1/2 cup chopped giblets (previously cooked for 2 hours)(optimal)
1# sage breakfast sausage
4 eggs beaten
In large stock pot
cook sausage until brown and crumbled
Add onions, herbs ,celery and turkey stock
Simmer for 30-45 minutes
Add turkey neck and giblets
Simmer another 10 minutes
Add stock to crumbled CORNBREAD in large bowl and add eggs
Mix well and season with salt and pepper
Pour in baking dish and cook for 30 -45 minutes uncovered on 350 degrees or until its slightly set (don't over cook, dressing should be moist, not dry and crumbly. Maybe crisp edges.
GREAT with any protein you make. Especially, Turkey or Chicken. ENJOY with giblets gravy, cranberry sauce,

So, so true and here is a hug 🫂for you. My Mother made her transition 15 years ago. What I wouldn't do to have one last hug from her. I've gone out to the cemetery on (or a couple of days ahead of) Mother's Day, her birthday and Christmas *every* single year since her passing. I just try to 'manage' holidays like this; there are still tears; but I know I had the best Mom in the world, and she wouldn't' want me to weep all day. I still miss her immensely, so I just try to get through the day with the beautiful memories of her.
@lisalafayette honey, Grandma Rittenhouse that raised me from age 15 to almost 30 died in 1994 in a car wreck with 2 other friends from church.
I crumbled, but I went on to live another 28 years without her but have always known it should've been me instead of her.
I deserved that but not her and I miss her everyday still.
I'd gladly take her place everyday.
Sometimes grief support won't help.

I have a good husband but I'm still broken.
I wish the Holy spirit would fix me.

This recipe made me salivate. Yum. I am 76 and have made cornbread dressing for many years as my mom and grandma did. Very similar to your recipe but yet a little differences. I will try this for sure. No holiday in mind, just a good Sunday dinner. As for those who may comment on using your fingers....quote from my grandma "Hands were made before forks!" I make and enjoy many of your recipes. Keep up the good work.

Wow this is something i remembered eating as a child. My parents were immigrants from italy. I grew up at the neighbors house, a black family from Georgia. I spent most of my life with them and we are still family. Some of my grandma pumpkins recipes i wish i knew,this is one. I can make pig feets,ham hocks n beans, grits, ox tails, all of that but this one ive tried but never quite right. Thank you.

It's the Friday after Mother's day and I am up at 5 watching your video. I so enjoyed watching u prepare your Mama's dressing because I am the oldest of 10 and the ONLY one who cooks Mama's dressing. Her version used the herb sage and poultry seasoning with homemade corn bread and celery onions eggs. Salt and pepper❤❤❤I am 74 and I love when u eat wit yo hands. That's way Mama and I ate in Montgomery Alabama ❤

I can definitely say one thing, Brother Chef Jeffery and that is, you awaken the inspiration, that fire deep within, that creativity that has been laying dormant, in the depths, screaming to be released.
I've realized that we can hold our own selves back from fully succeeding in life - due to trying to appease or listening to others, who may not have the drive or fire, which is okay if that is what they choose to do, but many will encourage you to do everything but exercise your gift, stepping out in faith. Your channel is very much needed and I'm learning quickly, to take full steps or strides forward in God, leaving fear behind. Thank you, for sharing this video content. I pray that you are doing well in general, on and after Mother's Day, I can relate to losing my mother at the age of 46 years old, I was 19 years old at the time.. It is very interesting the various ways people make their cornbread dressing! My mom would freeze any leftover cornbread, biscuits, hamburger and hotdogs buns, as well as sandwich bread ends to start her dressing. She, of course would make a large cast-iron skillet of cornbread.
She used the necks and giblets from the turkey, hen, or chickrn,celery, onion, and the normal dressing seasonings!!! She would even pour some of the juices rendered from the baked meats (most was used to make her gravy)!!!
Haven't tasted any with sage sausage, but it sounds wonderful. I will have to try it!! HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!
