only halfway-thru, and finding this super-interesting. especially the work ethic/motivation, etc. for success in all areas of life and business. play, etc. etc.
Wow you're energy is awesome, I know that doing it enough your physical state builds to cope, but it's cool just how structured and disciplined you have to be, I'm sure there are off and on days so things can vary, but you make the vlogs and they all look epic!!
This is probably where I started viewing your vlogs but hadn't subscribed because I didn't even sign in with Google. Well I have to confess I did take a similar shot you took in the Market Hall when I captured it I thought about this Vlog
Ever think about doing a quick video or include importing and exporting from premiere pro? I'm like you and don't want to spend crazy amounts of time editing video and color grading. Maybe what you shoot the vlogs at and what you export. Keep up the great work!
There were situations when vloggers did video in the hotel and owners asked the vlogger to take the video down or they were about to press charges. I think it happened to one photographer not that long ago just can't remember his name. Good stuff Brendan.
great episode with the tips about staying healthy while travelling. I am so excited for your trip back to South America. stoked about Peru and Colombia. will you be visiting the lost city? will be great to follow you to South America. such an amazing continent.
Next time in london, check out citizen m south bank. Vitra has done a great job, plus its walking distance from the Thames. Oh and they make a great espresso.
Ps. Vaipiano is across the street for made in front of you pizza, salads & pasta. Believe it or not it took a German to bring great pizza (shout out to vaipiano). Loving your work/vlogs... addicted!
I would give anything to get clouds in the morning or evening sky where I live. Summer here means blue skies from sun up to sun down. Plain, flat blue skies. *insert sad face here.
Brendan, maybe, just maybe, find a place called Son en Breughel in the province of Noord-Brabant. At least your name suggests, when the French under Napoleon made it mandatory to have a last name, your family stems from there... That is, when you return to the Netherlands 😊
So, I originally wanted to become a veterinarian, but I'm not so sure about it now, I really would rather be a photographer. What are the downsides of being a photographer? What are the best parts? Would I make enough money to live in a decent apartment? Do I get to travel a lot? Is this an expensive career?
Great video. Very interesting and informative. Quick question a bit off topic but its been driving me nuts. Who is singing that song in the background. Been trying to find that song with no luck.
All about the light, mate. Last bit of sunlight hitting the buildings in the background. And, I used 2 ND filters: 1 - 3 stop soft grad ND (to keep the light in the sky), and 1 - 6 stop ND (to slow down the shutter and smooth out the water). Then, it was shot on a 6d and 16-35mm lens at about f/11 for 30seconds, ISO100. And, basically, I sat there as still as possible for those 30 seconds. Check out the more recent vlogs as I explain the shots a little bit more.
This is just superb, I been tryin to find out about "how to get started as a freelance writer" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Fiyyan Freelance Fraternity - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my co-worker got excellent success with it.
really enjoyed this episode! can you tell me, I have seen a video of yours where you explain the stock photo sites and process you use, but I can't find it in your amazing supply of videos? can you link that for me??
Hi brendan hi have a question, when you travel to take photos of certain places do the places or the tourism council [idk] reach out to you to get photos for them or do you message them selling your trade? Cheers
i had mine for a day and had to return it due to having a scratched screen? :-) both new and i thing i just got a used one :-( so didn't have much time to check its performance but hope will be good enough for lightroom and FL studio.
Did the company that hired you for the assignment tell you which pictures they wanted, or did they leave it up to you to cover the subject in which they were interested? Thanks for the informative video.
All depends on the client. This one gave me total free rein. Generally, when someone brings in a foreign photographer it's because they want them to take their own angle at it. That said, they did give me some locations they hoped I would cover.
@@BrendanvanSon hehe thanx alot man. i saw your Instagram photos they are awesome. the effort u putting in your photographs appreciated 👏 👌. keep rocking. stay safe🤗
surely you didnt deliver any of those photos in this video. not going to lie, they were all pretty average photos. surely they arent paying you 500 dollars for those photos lmao
I say it all the time, you don't have to be the best photographer. You just need to work the hardest and know how to pitch and network. And, yes, I delivered this content - shot in one day - and they were not only pleased, but bought extra.
Thanks for the vid bro this is exactly how I want to live my life
I'm glad you liked it Mason. Hope you manage to run around some of the current content. And, wishing you all the success!

Hi Brendan! Your photos are amazing! I just started on YoutTube and viewing your work just gave me an extra kick of motivation. Thank you so much! 👌
Keep up with awesome content Mr. Brendon! 👍 I'm always impressed and inspired by your cityscape photography 👌
Came from Thomas Heaton's video but definitely subscribed because of the video quality. What an awesome vlog and some really amazing photos!

Super work, I admire your work ethic. Getting up early is tiring, but worth it for the shots!
Subscribed from Thomas Heatons suggestion great vlog
+NicholasEJones ah, Thomas! What a legend. Where was the suggestion?
On the end of his latest Vlog :)

That's actually my favorite. I just live nocturnal!

Classic locations; Oude Haven and Markthal! I think you could spend so much more time shooting Rotterdam
+Norman van Rhijn definitely could. So many places to shoot.
10:03 anybody knows how he took that?? It’s so nice

+Vegard The NerdyExplorer thanks!
When you said you were headed to Market house to get a couple of shots, my first thought was: "Really? Drinking already?" lol, I'm such an idiot. :P
+Carla Chidiac Haha Hahaha
I'm intrigued by the baseball highlights. Blue Jays fan? I'm an Orioles girl myself.
+Just Call Me Annie boooooo. The Orioles are the worst birds. Go Jays!
So you're saying you weren't rooting for the O's?! Hahaha..... 😂😂
Excelent work
In hope that I can make it one day ✈🌏🌄

Not first, still one of the firsts xD good enough
Great video I just have one question
When using a ND filter what exposure times do you use?
you should review your XPS15 abit.
Wanna hang out with you for a week would be so dope!
Are you still in Rotterdam? I'm based in Rotterdam and have done quite a few skyline photos I could show you some cool spots.
Hi brendan hi have a question, when you travel to take photos of certain places do the places or the tourism council [idk] reach out to you to get photos for them or do you message them selling your trade? Cheers
Where do you sell your photos
This was not to much talking. Was interesting to hear what stuff you have to deal with. Keep going :)
Really enjoy watching your videos man ... really good work. by the way how getting on with a new DELL XPS 2 IN 1
Gonna have a video on it soon. But, in short, I love it.

I'm on the 2018 version and it is a beast for vlog editing and photos. I don't even remember what lag is.
hey Brendan. I know you stated what laptop you use in a previous video but i cant find it. can you verify which on you use. thanks!

How do you keep track of all your scouted locations? Low or high tech?
+lmmalouin high tech. I mark them in Google maps.
Cool. Thanks

These days I'm on a Canon R. I think I was still on the Canon 6d with this video. :D

Why do you hate birds bro? 2 with one stone❓
+Philip Vignola down with birds!
STOKE footages man!

+YOKO CHOU link is in thw description, but it's @brendanvanson
He reminds me of Casey Neistat
"Citizen M" talks rather too much! I'd get very tired, very quickly of hearing what "Citizen M says..." ;-)
