  • The 2005-2006 Orion V's running out of Bee-Line have very, very quickly depleted into very small quantities, both in Valhalla Garage, and Yonkers Garage. This once huge fleet of transit-spec 40 foot Orion V's has now majority been replaced by the new 2022 fleet of XDE40's that Bee-Line has ordered, replacing any buses from 2006 and before that run on regular commuter routes around Westchester County, for both garages. These Orion V's are the final transit-spec Orion V's that can be found around the NYC area, reaching parts of The Bronx which Orion V's that operated within MTA operations haven't touched since 2016. While these buses have ran for years after, unfortunately coming with their age, they have reached the point of which a full service life requirement has been met, and while the MTA's 2006-2007 Orion VII's currently retiring across the whole of NYC are being sent into the Eastchester Scrap line for an eventual tow to a scrapper, Bee-Lines Orion V's have a chance at a second life thanks to the benefit that auctioning off retired buses gives, especially if they are deemed safe to operate. Some retired 2006 units have already been bought and saved as a historically preserved buses, letting those units see a longer life past their days service, and as well as allowing bus fans from all around witness these historically significant buses.
Featured here is a unit which, at the time of this recording had been one of the few units remaining in passenger service across Westchester County, based out of Yonkers Garage, running on Route 13 from White Plains Transit Center, to the Port Chester Railroad Station. #beelinebus

I feel like the hybrids actually have some serious power behind them. The electrics are just plain nuts. I do agree these had some good power when they were still around.

Nice that you still have Orion V busses though!

I wish low floor busses never existed, they are so uncomfortable. Handicapped lifts worked fine if it meant a better ride.

      Exactly.

I agree. I swear those newer buses either have sensitive brakes or the bus drivers truly don’t know how to let the vehicle glide because I swear every time the bus driver taps the brakes it seems like everyone is about to fall. I never had the issue on the Orion V
