If you can not afford a new s class you can not afford a used s class.
The maintenance on these will bankrupt you in 6 months.
This actually the nicest one i have seen in a while with everything working. Otherwise mercedes from this time went down with the quality and generally half the car would not work. Even this pristine example has gearbox problems these were not this slow at shifting the transmission bands are probably going out and the owner has definitely not replaced the fluid in a while.
Anyways do not buy a cheap german car. They are cheap because they are broken.
You will find 2010 s class for 10lakh , stay away from them. Everything will work before you buy it and the moment you transfer the money things will stop working. If you are buying one thoroughly test the car for hours. Make sure it gets hot and driven properly. Test everything. There is a lot & lot of things to go wrong. If the price is 7lakh keep aside 14 lakh for repairs on first year.
If you really want a mercedes. Get an e class. Anything from 2009-2018 is fine. They are cheap , they are not too expensive to maintain and more importantly the diesel v6 models are reliable with some common failures that should be addressed the moment you buy it unless the previous owner has fixed those problems. Inline 4 diesel ones have timing chain problems if the owner has followed mercedes recommended oil change intervals of 15k km. , oil change should be done at no more than 8k km. For city driven car's it should be no more than 5-7k. Mercedes/bmw recommend 15k oil change intervals which ruins the timing system of their 4cyl 6cyl engines. & Replacing the chain is a difficult job as the timing side is towards the gearbox so it is an engine out job that will cost 40-60k at a local mechanic.
No matter how luxurious the new generation cars looks but these old beautiful machines reminds old money luxury ❤ loved it mann!

@@DwaxxxHard to prove for sure, unless you deal with these cars on a regular basis, but the consensus is, the lifetime of these cars are being consciously reduced from 20-25 years earlier to 8-12 years now. The newer versions are more catchy and shine bright, but don't last half as long.

Even if someone manages to acquire a 5th generation 2008-2009 S-Class, there's no assurance they can continue using it, given the looming possibility of the government banning 15+ year old vehicles. While it might seem like we have 1-2 years before this ban takes effect, the potential financial loss from such a decision would be devastating for middle-class families.
This stringent rule has significantly deterred people from purchasing diesel cars. I believe that banning vehicles older than 15 years won't necessarily contribute to environmental conservation. In fact, it might exacerbate the issue. A key concern is the ineffective disposal of these vehicles in India. It's rare to see people opting for official scrapping; instead, many abandon their cars on roadsides. This practice not only occupies valuable space but also leads to environmental hazards. The e-waste from the car's wiring and controllers, as well as metal waste due to rust, becomes a significant problem. Additionally, the large amount of non-recyclable plastic adds to the waste issue.
Currently, recycling cars or bikes isn't financially viable, so manufacturers and the government aren't actively promoting this practice. Therefore, implementing a rule that will inevitably lead to increased waste and benefit big corporations at the expense of ordinary citizens is counterproductive.
Given the reluctance to read long comments nowadays, I'll keep this brief. The 15-year rule limits many from owning an S-Class, discourages diesel car purchases, and may not even benefit the environment. In India, the rule leads to abandoned cars, causing space and environmental issues. Moreover, car and bike recycling isn't financially viable, disadvantaging the average person and potentially benefiting big corporations.

My innova is 2011 top model and I just love that car and we spent 3 lakhs on it last year for complete restoration but sadly it will complete 15 years by 2026. I really hope this stupid 15 year ban doesn’t come into play cause a new innova costs a freaking 25-30 lakhs now
