An antidote to most of today's generic 'super' cars. A bit pricey though! Recently sold to an Italian VC company which will hopefully give it a bit more stability and investment so it'll be interesting to see what it does with that.
Shame the company was sold. It was the best of the last very few totally British owned and run car manufacturers. I would love to have one just for what they are and to be different. I did sit in one once, but that’s about it. My fave is the Aero 8, mind you this one looks interesting......🤗
Always had great aesthetics, however also has regularly leaked water in the rain. So while I love English sport cars, and enjoy supporting smaller companies...I'm not sure for their price point vs. reliability, vs. automatic transmission, vs. the incredible amount of choice available at the price point... not sure I'm a fit.
I was at the factory for a tour last weekend. Great place. Lots of Plus Sixes all over the place in various states of construction! I have a 2017 4/4 and love it. No racer like the Plus Six but still loads of fun. I hire mine out too in North of Scotland and everyone who hires her loves her.
I've a 70th Anniversary model 4/4 with a Duratec engine as well as older Plus 4's ('57 and '63). All great. For me the traditional chassis car with an engine around 2 litres is just right. More power isn't needed and may cause you to come a cropper. Some people are buying the new hyper cars without the skills required to control them in poor conditions. Meantime, my very first car was a Ford engined F-type Morgan three wheeler too which you used to be able to drive at 16. I've driven them for - ouch - 50 years! I'd go with a Duratec 1.8 or 2 litre car, or the great TR engine or Crossflow in an earlier car, either on twin 40 DCOE carbs (which sound great too). Throttle bodies work well on the Duratecs...
Surely someone at Morgan could have designed a leather sleeve to put over that ZF gear selector? And that steering wheel is pretty horrid. Other than that it’s a fantastic looking car and a worthy successor to the Plus 8
Great fun to watch this video Sam! Its nice to know that there's slightly more metal than wood used in the car, in order to get more torsional rigidity through the corners! There's a 'Stage 2' turbo upgrade on this B58 engine for £2400 by PureTurbos, and an American youtube channel called 'European Auto Group' uploaded a few videos of them fitting that stage 2 upgrade on their Supra to make 520+hp and 445ft/lbs torque. And with very few other mods, they got their Supra to run under 11 seconds for the 1/4 mile. I'd love to see someone getting this Morgan Six and apply the same engine mods to it - it'll give so many people a funny surprise and it'll also be a 500hp deathtrap weighing 1000kg! p.s. I don't work for any of those companies and i'm not sponsored by them
So it's basically a Z4 straight six engine similar to the BMW M2 which BMW dropped in favor for an M3 V8 in the M2 Competition? I think it definitely works for Morgan unlike BMW or Toyota as its more of a classic style and not meant for track.
The m2 comp is still a turbo 6 (from the current m3/4). I do wonder how this new platform will progress as they release some more nutty models in the future
I've just watched a review of the Plus 4, and despite the love, the same comment was made about the car benefitting from a fruitier exhaust. At this price level, you'd think that Morgan could nail this on the standard car, as it's obviously an essential ingredient. Never heard this complaint from TVR owners...
@@Carrera-gp9od Modern autos are better than manuals and that beemer engine is the best engine money can buy right now. But I'm guessing you're a "REAL driver" so only a manual will do for your prehistoric way of life.
I don't know that much about Morgans but when I see a light retro styled car I expect manual gearbox for some reason, I don't know but to me it says 'purist' and ZF ain't that, I guess Morgans are more grand tourers than let's say Caterham
Fabulous backdrop of the Malvern hills😘, the new car looks a great way to get classic looks and modern power 👌 do you think its a car for just touring or would it be good on the track too.....
Really nice and great looking car, the only thing: for that price would expect a steering wheel that does not look like a EUR/£ 5.- peace of chinese plastic crap. It's horrible and does not fit to the car at all.
It would be even better when they put the awesome Voodoo V8 in it. It revs until 8250 rpm and has about 525hp. And please no automatic in a Morgan. And yes, I visited the factory and likes Morgan. I also visited the Lotus factory and buy 2 Lotusses instead. Now I have no money left for a Morgan! That bothers me.
It's not a Supra engine, is it. No, it's the same engine as the Supra now gets, but it is in fact a BMW engine as Toyota don't have one that is good enough.
Hi! - Great new model. - Congratulations! What I don't like at first view is the gear shifter and this ugly LED stripe in the front lights. - But as I'm no potential customer for the +6 (I already own a "Rover +8" I'll never ever sell) I personally don't mind... - I'll keep the fingers crossed that the new models will be a successs for Morgan!
What do you guys think of Morgans in 2019?

Absolutely lovely. Might even pick one up at some point.
Will be interesting to see, big changes are happening at the factory so hopefully a bright future ahead.

It's a cool little factory isn't it? I went to school around the corner so popped down one weekend... amazing craftsmanship...
Really interesting place and nice to see some proper hand crafting going on

I actually thought that it had a 2jz when i read "supra". Would be smth insane tho.

For me, 100%

What's the point of the morgan with automatic gearbox?
Americans
As an amputee it's my only option

The Tascam DR-10L is the lav mic you need mate!
Looks like you had a lot of fun Sam. Is there a option for a factory fit exhaust upgrade?
Not yet but talking to them it seems like one will come

I would love a Morgan , but it would have to be a v8 manual
Personally I would prefer the Morgan with the better engine and better gear box

I drive a bmw m140 I , with that engine and gearbox

The window comes off so I guess it keeps it aligned and attached

Probably a bit iffy on track but would give it a go...
Wow, that car can shift !
I lOVE it, how much for Australians? they dont have to swap the damn steering wheel , we are on the same side

Mario...totally agreed. They put so much effort in keeping with the classic look then mate it with an ugly modern steering wheel🤢
@@johnnyboy1586 From this year you may order Moto-Lita steering wheels
so basically BMW did everything great and made the Morgan better than ever 👍 they got a run (Supra) congrats 🍾
Dreadful sound I’m afraid spoils the video
Such a shame that the exhaust note is so strangled by the EU regulations on noise. I really miss the days when you could make proper noise!

Automatic gearbox ??? 😳🤬
Looks like Mr Toad's car, but can outrun a Supra.
