    What transmission oil (grade/ type) should be used in Honda Insight Hybrid 2019 ?

    • @insanetaco98
      @insanetaco98 2 года назад +1

      @@TheSnyds you ain't touch the trans though so why would you tell them that. Plus its a newer vehicle with an auto trans so its likely a sealed system and should only be serviced at the interval in your owners manual

    Maybe I missed it but, was that the first oil change on your insight?
    I usually subscribe to the old school first oil change at 500-1000 miles but this is my first hybrid.
    I'm at 2,000 miles and am fighting to NOT change the oil yet based upon what the owners manual states and what others have said on different forums which is wait until the maintenance minder comes on.

    • @TheSnyds
      @TheSnyds  2 года назад +2

      Yea on my other cars I go about 3k myself. But with the grade of oil this takes its 10k

    • @insanetaco98
      @insanetaco98 2 года назад +2

      Do it at 5k to be safe since its newer. As a mechanic and a person who owns old ass sports cars I do 3k intervals cause i beat the piss out of my cars and i run the thickest oil the manufacturer recommends with a little mystery oil mixed in.

    • @Mavman42
      @Mavman42 2 года назад +3

      You're just throwing money away. Go with what the car is saying. Honda engineers wouldn't tell you to change the oil roughly every 10k miles just to mess with you. If you have the money and don't mind it, go for it. Just saying it's a huge waste.

    • @professor_steelbottom
      @professor_steelbottom 10 дней назад

      The engine doesn't run all the time, and most of that is to run the generator, so it is never under heavy load. I think the recommended change intervals are fine.

    • @TheSnyds
      @TheSnyds  Год назад +1

      @@kylewambot2664 any oil change shop could do it. But if you can spend the extra money going to honda never hurts. But if it's your 1st car I'd say give this a go yourself. Save some money!

    You should switch over to the OEM oil filter. It’s better for the car and probably cheaper then the K&N or mobile.

    • @insanetaco98
      @insanetaco98 2 года назад

      OE isn't always available though. K&N is a pretty damn good filter though as well as Bosch. Those two are probably closer to OE quality than most

    Never add oil to the filter before installation. Just lubricate the gum with oil.
