    This was a really well done video. @@Sam.RoyalRider I went to your channel and looked at your videos, to be absolutely honest, I wasn't compelled to click on any of these. Mostly because your titles and thumbnails are too vague and don't exactly describe what's the video about. So try to work on that to create better titles that are going to be catchy and intriguing

    Great tip Gillian! I’ve been learning just how important it is to be INTENTIONAL about YT! One tip I would suggest to people: have purpose in your content and bring out a video with content that only YOU can give. Because that’s what makes each individual channel sooo unique. YOU!!

    Hello Gillian, I'm a faithful follower, refer people to u all the time, as well. I'm try to use your suggestions on many areas of my life, even though I'm older (almost 68) have a mobility issue that started worsening 2 yrs ago due to spinal issues. I'm a fighter and refuse to give up. I've notice alot of change in you in the last year especially. You're a remarkable young lady. With all due respect, my only concern when watching & listening is your talking so much faster and I feel like I need to take a breath.... I'm feeling more anxious than enjoyment, like I did. I can only attribute it to your talking faster and repeating the same thing more than necessary. Although, it could be my age too. I won't go into the psychological strategies of repeating things to help people remember better, because I'm sure you know them all. I love your videos, never have been disappointed in any and learn so much. If I succeed with my plans this year, it will be partly because of what you taught me. I hope all is well with your family and the newest little one. Time is flying by so fast I'm sure she's growing into a beautiful child, who is blessed a loving mother. Your son is so handsome too! Thank you for all the valuable information, time and research it takes to make these videos. My best to your continued success in the years to come. Blessings, L :)

      One simple thing you can do is change the playback speed when you are watching a video. Just hit the settings icon (it looks like a gear) on the bottom right of the video, and go to "playback speed", then select a speed that is less than 1.

    Out of all the videos on how to get views that I watched, this one is by far the best one. You just have a way to phrase and explain the how and why that gives the extra super important info no one else delivers. RUclips algorithm explained, and it makes so much sense now! Thank you Gillian

    This video is the truth! My suggested videos get wayy more watch time. Another thing is put one of your videos into incognito and see which videos are suggested in the watch column and that can give you an idea of what to post next and also learn if RUclips is "clumping" you with the right people

  • @TouringAV
    @TouringAV 5 лет назад +10

    fantastic, Gillian -- totally love how you debunk those myths about how "important" it was to do "RUclips SEO" because the real thing on RUclips is in the metadata, just like you said!
    And hey, in real life you don't even need any extra tool for that -- just pull up the page source (which you can do in any browser) and it'll show the Keywords and other Meta Data used in any given video on any RUclips or other HTML page. I kind of like Tubebuddy myself (for making it more convenent) but neither this nor any other tool is actually required for it.

    • @Joe-sn3ms
      @Joe-sn3ms 4 года назад +1

      TouringAV - Travel, Outdoors & Touring so what she saying is, is to copy the popular videos, exact tags?

    • @TouringAV
      @TouringAV 4 года назад

      @@Joe-sn3ms no, that only works if your video's content really satisfies viewers looking for those exact tags! So this needs to satisfy their search intent. If they "find" you and then are shown something completely different (or even worse, realize you're "tag-baiting" them) they'll leave after a few secs, and that hurts your Channel's performance metrics. Hence only copy those tags from popular ones that are also relevant to *your* video. And remember what you want is viewers satisfied with the content they found (yours). Good marks if they watch, bad marks if they bounce!

    When we first started on You Tube in 2010, we interviewed Rock Stars, it was just starting to get known, the thing that got us on the map at that time was someone famous posting our video on their account. One thing led to another, the video was, "Andy Six riding a little girl's bike," I filmed it, and it was hilarious, a giant 6 ft 2" rock star riding a tiny bicycle and very short video. Thank you Gillian this is a great teaching motivational

    Hi, your videos are great help indeed. I keep watching your videos since couple of months. Getting traffic on Blog, especially on affiliate products to sell, has become a real challenge now as people log in directly to any ecommerce site to buy products they want. Could you suggest something on this that would work in 2019 at beginner level ?

    All really great tips Gillian. I've just been at this for a 6 months and learning so much from you. My question for you is this, why not do BOTH research for SEO/ ranking and COPY the metadata to trigger suggested views. Especially as RUclips grows it seems new creators would want to use every strategy available to them. What do you think?

    • @TaraWagner
      @TaraWagner 5 лет назад +1

      Ron Lyons curious about this too. I would think it might be tough just based on the number of tags you could add.

    • @CoachRonLyons

      @@TaraWagner Well, truthfully this is exactly what I do and what I preach to my clients so I am just curious if I along with some other pretty big names in this industry (which you and I both have knowledge of) are doing it wrong. I mean have a pretty high percentage of suggested video views on my channels even as a new creator and I use both the trending meta data as well as strategic SEO tactics. It seems to work well and I'm just wondering if it truly makes sense to eliminate the SEO altogether. It seems that the message in this video was not to worry about researching for SEO and although I agree that it is only part of the puzzle, I'm not sure it is such a low number to just ignore. I mean I have seen channels that have absolutely zero SEO, zero value, zero strategy and still get millions of views - primarily they are either shocking, or they are showing tons of skin, like borderline pornography, or they are just totally off the wall goofy. I mean I get it, they get people to watch and that's all RUclips cares about, but for all of us (like you an I) who are trying to provide real value, it seems that our only chance to compete with those types of channels is to utilize all of the tools available to us, which is what I preach and what I use. But again, I am still new at this so although I have had some really great early success, I definitely don't have all the answers. Just want to clarify what Gillian was saying about not worrying about SEO or researching keywords, but just to focus on suggested video. Does that make sense?

    • @TaraWagner
      @TaraWagner 5 лет назад +1

      Ron Lyons total sense and I’m definitely curious. I’ve been focused on SEO almost exclusively but was introduced to this idea recently and have been deliberating it. How quickly do you find you start gaining views on a new video with this method?

    • @CoachRonLyons
      @CoachRonLyons 5 лет назад +1

      @@TaraWagner Well, to be fair, I also use back links as a strategy which I originally learned from Brian Dean but then once I purchased a course from another big YT influencer (not the same one you and I know) who also became my personal mentor, I learned even more about it in relation to videos and specifically YT. Then at a live event I met someone who has also been helping RUclips channels since 2007 and started utilizing him for gaining views with back links - in fact we partnered together so that is one of the products I offer to people and it has helped over 35 other channels really gain some great traction! So all that to say, I get views pretty quickly but my videos are also all over various blogs and social media because of the back links. By using the combination of SEO, suggested view strategies and back links, I am seeing well over 1,000 views in the first couple days and then well over 10,000 views within the first week. As the viewers shift from the back links, the SEO allows the videos to rank in at least a couple of keywords that have a good search volume, and then the suggested views really start kicking in right away and take over from there so the views keep coming long after I have done the back links. Keep in mind with my new channel I am just approaching 400 subscribers so I am still very new. My other channel that you know about, Do Life Healthier, has just over 1,600 subscribers and a couple of those videos are already generating thousands of dollars of revenue on affiliate products. I actually just did a video about that too cause I think it's pretty cool that a new channel like mine can do that. But again, I spend hours on research both for SEO and for what Gillian is talking about in terms of suggested video strategies.

      Did you try the method she is mentioning? I feel all this RUclipsr who are mentioning this tips are saying the same and it’s not working for me 😭😭 they say the same and haven’t helped my channel. I notice your channel has a great amount of subscribers... how did you do that? ☺️

    • @SimplyInspiredbySheena
      @SimplyInspiredbySheena 4 года назад +1

      @@rainboweyes_artstudio 💙 Hey 👋🏻 I’m not exactly sure what specifically worked for me...I think it’s a combination of several things.
      - you have to REALLY want it...like an obsession type of behaviour
      - but you don’t just want it for yourself, you have really feel like you have something to give to someone else.
      - be consistent...everyone says that but it’s true. If someone who is a fan of your content knows you upload weekly then they know they can return back and new videos will be there
      - learn...omg, the learning never stops. Just when you think you did a good job there’s always little tweaks to make it better.
      - be happy, have fun, and be passionate. People can tell when you are just going through the emotions or uploading for the sake of uploading. You want people to feel your positive vibes (I know that sounds weird)...people can sense your energy even when it’s not authentic.
      - thumbnail & titles are major! I spend hours on my thumbnails...and they still could be better lol
      And finally....be patient. Most content creators don’t get a lot of views until they have around 100 videos up. When you have a larger inventory of content you are more easily discovered....think of it this way, if you have 1 video in the billions of videos on YT you’re less likely to get discovered. But if you have 100+ your chances of being seen goes up significantly.
      These are just some of the things I’ve learned. I’m not an expert and definitely have more room to improve...LOTS of room lol Just have fun, share, and do the best you can with what you’ve got. Everyone’s journey is different 💙
