    He right especially about D Rose. The Knicks fans hated on Rose when he got traded to them. They talked about how he would be taking minutes away from Quick. Kevin makes a great point about RJ. roles are not clearly defined and RJ is confused at times. Another great point, the Rose factor was big. Kevin brings up Coach Tib's substitution patterns is horrible, excellent point. Another good point, Pat Ewing and Bernard King would have been an interesting combo. It is hard to run an offense with Randall slowing the ball down. Quickly needs to continue to perfect his flip shot. I agree, Randall can go. YESSSSS Kevin, wait on getting Melo the following year. Then he gets Pat Ewing ejected from the Garden when Ewing played at Georgetown. Just awesome stuff and much respect. Never understood how he never started a game at St. Johns. it is just weird as hell. Also saw the game he and Billy Goodwin played at the Rucker All Star game at Columbia University where Artie Green dunked on Ray Williams (RIP). Definitely did Bernard King wrong and Charles Oakley wrong. Hell, the knicks did Willis Reed wrong and traded Clyde Frazier to Cleveland. Williams brings up a lot of good points. The Knicks thought Bernard was done and wouldn't be the same player so they decided to build with Ewing instead but they were wrong. Ewing didn't win a ring due to some bad "luck" (Charles Smith, the finger roll, the fight in Miami), injuries (his broken wrist in 2000), and a man named Micheal Jordan. Hopefully, the Knicks can get back to being a top team but like he said- they need to hold onto players and STOP picking up nearly past their prime free agents. If the prime FAs don't want to come, keep developing the picks until they become stars themselves like Barett, IQ and Toppin.

    The problem with Knicks general management, they always go for the splash headlines! I've followed the Knicks since the late 1970's. The Knicks believe it or not once had a chance to obtain Julius Erving. The Nets were willing to hand over "Dr. J" to the Knicks because of some type of convoluted fee back in the day in which the Knicks somehow were allowed to charge the NY Nets a hefty fee for invading their territory. I guess free market was out the window at that time. But overall, I'm glad "Dr. J" went to the Sixers. The Knicks somehow would have ruined Dr. J's career if he wore a Knicks jersey. Dr. J was meant to be a Sixer after the NBA/ABA merger.
    I totally and 100% agree with Kevin Williams about Bernard King. He should have remained a Knick after he returned from injury. Bernard King leading the Knicks took the 1983-84 championship winning Boston Celtics to 7 games. Knicks management as Kevin Williams had stated don't know how to develop a contending team. I couldn't blame hc Rick Pitino leaving the NY Knicks for UK after his brief run during the late 1980's. I know Pitino saw the negative stuff developing.
    One of the few positive things the NY Knicks did in the 1990's was hire Pat Riley as hc.Another positive at that time was trading for Xavier McDaniel and develop John Starks. Personally, I would've kept Mark Jackson at PG. I'm still ranting a bit to this day how the Knicks did Xavier McDaniel dirty almost to this day. They had the foundation of that team set. And Knicks upper management blew it up. The Knicks tried to replace the X-Man with James Worthy and Chuck "The Rifleman" Person through trades while leaving the X-Man hung out to dry waiting for a contract offer. There were other details after the 1992 season which messed some things up. That's why I couldn't blame Pat Riley for leaving the Knicks for the Miami Heat after the 1995 playoffs. Maybe it was a bit dirty how Pat Riley did it. But Knicks management has always did things dirty too to other head coaches and players for decades. With owner Dolan around, he doesn't care. As long as Knicks fans sell out MSG and continue to purchase MSG Network through cable, the owner will continue to live large. Overall, I feel for fellow Knicks fans.

It shows that REAL ball players understand how this game should REALLY be played. These new NBA player worshippers have no idea what this man is talking about.
    Today's game is predicated on who is the team's star...and the offense runs through "that" player. Like KAT shooting 3 pointers like he's Steph Curry....really? That's why Minnesota will never win anything. And that's why Golden State is back in the Finals. When their core 3, who Marc Jackson put together and let them build, got back on the court together? Look at the results.

Rushmore-past players like Kobe, Duncan, Bird, Isiah-when he hasn't earned it. Hands down, I believe Steph is the greatest shooter we've ever seen; but his lack of athleticism and smaller stature means he can picked on defensively. For example, Kyrie's game-winning Finals' shot was in ISO against Steph. Even in last night's game, Derrick White got off when Steph was defending him. I'm also starting to believe the growing narrative that says Steph disappears in the clutch.

      That said-I'm going to chill on Steph and like you said, watch for him to have a breakout performance next game. As for your assessment of Robert Williams III, I can dig it. Regarding the bigs in this series, Jalen Rose also made a great observation: he said Green and Looney have to be offensive threats; otherwise Horford and Williams III can relax on defense but attack the offensive boards on the other end, because they're not exerting any energy guarding the Warriors' bigs.
      I think most of us in NBA fandom probably predicted Steph, Klay and Poole would struggle against the Celtics' length and athleticism because like you said, Tatum, Brown, Smart and (even Horford) are going to switch everything, while also being able to move their feet, keep shooters in front of them and contest shots...
      And as an undersized guard myself (6'1" and under), I know it's hard getting your ish off over length... unless you're an athletic, ball-handling wizard like an Isiah Thomas or Kyrie Irving (and I'll even throw Marbury in there, too)...

      I am a former NBA retired veteran who still studies the game! I love the game of basketball in all forms from big man dominating basketball, to this evolution of the big man expanding their skill set beyond the paint, and playing like guards! I only compared differences! And the only thing constant in both is DEFENSE! AND THEREIN LIES MOST OF OUR DISAGREEMENTS! And maybe I have an above average basket I.Q. and I have played in hundreds of pro games, saw hundreds of systems, played for excellent coaches, and total numbskull coaches too, so my perspective on pro basketball is quite extensive!

    • @neiko9251
      @neiko9251 2 года назад

      @@Kevin-sx9vl So I was right in my first perspective. You are a true NBA veteran and Basketball aficionado. My question..and it’s the most important question for any Knicks fan like myself. Let me preface this by saying I agreed with you 100% that the Knicks have an issue with allowing their flowers to bloom and building a garden (no pun intended) of beautiful players that dominate the league like many other teams already have, the last time they did it holistically they’ve gone to the finals and won two championships. 70’s and 90’s. Teams that have built and allowed their players to flower through seasons of pain and grit are : Blazers, Grizzlies, Warriors, Celtics, Heat, Mavericks , and most of all Bucks. And now look 5 of those teams accumulative have grossed 5 championships and 9 conference finals championships. I think the Knicks are as close to they’ve ever been to a fully homegrown (drafted) and built team since the 80’-90’s and I’m actually proud of them for doing very little tampering and keeping their draft picks. However they have many kinks to fix and players they need to expel and acquire, along with drafting and scouting they must become better at. The Knicks need to get rid of Randle and still allow Thibs to run his system with a little intervention of giving the Knicks juniors more time (Quickley, Toppin, RJ, and Mitch). It’s my belief that it takes 4 things to make it to the finals and an extra 5th to win it all. Luck in the draft (you need to draft a player that becomes a league shattering player) (The Knicks have not gotten lucky in the draft and have actually been damned in almost 3 decades along with making bad calls RJ is the closest thing to lucky they’ve gotten in years), a defensive minded coach that indoctrinates a defense that’s so good that the teams offense is able to become lethal but the players need to be offensive threats in the same breathe, becoming a psychological threat to other teams around the league, a winning and loving owner and front office atmosphere, and finally the 5th is team chemistry that allows one another to lift the other in times of failure and desperation (IE: Bulls game 7 Vs Jazz)
      So my question to you is. Besides Dolan selling the team or leaving , what’s it gonna take for the Knicks to not only make it but stay making it to the playoffs and winning it all.
