If you take the seat out, I hope the cabinet you replace it with is low and has a comfy top and backrest for Cruzie. Otherwise he may permanently leave you for the 2nd floor of the shop! 😂
Does Cruzy often hesitate to go down the stairs? I had to paint a white line at the end of each step for my old bulldog Fernand to follow me to the basement (my stairs were also black), I think he had trouble with his 3D vision :D

My 2 Tzus do not like the scary metal steps going into our mini lite Rockwood. Going to pad steps BUT the open step spaces scare them. Trying to figure that issue out.

The big blue IKEA bags work great for storing and carrying firewood! Keeps the slivers and grit off the floor. At night, you can take the bag out and tuck it under your van or a picnic table.

I have a dog that totally disliked going down stairs. I bought 1'x1' adhesive backed carpet tiles and installed them on one side of the stairs. Problem solved with the claws gripping the carpet.
Get an affiliate overland spare tire trash heavy duty bag for Wood and Camp Trash. Aluminum flashing should be easy with your new welding machine for better on gas mileage. VVs all the way Up!

Changing from 3/4 inch to 1/2 inch on each side would give you an extra 1/2 inch of space between the walls in a small space that’s a lot of space, you also have 2 layers of wood changing one of them to 1/4 inch would mean even less weight

I opted to remove my passenger seat, that side was damaged and that door won't open so I use the space like Bruce, and have all my electronics and batteries, was planning to install the heater under my inverter that is on top of the seat mount, is a metal box in older GMC van, and once everything is installed making a platform on top that is padded for a dog bed/seat that covers the entire area from dash to the opening of the rear side door..
My passenger seat is the most comfortable place to sit facing backwards. Put a swivel on it. It will be the best change you made on your van. Also why not use a tote for your firewood? Another tote for the stuff in the front on top of your firewood.

Lightening up that van would be a good idea. Especially since, in the past, you've stated it is close to, or over, the GVWR. And with, one of those 4wd "farm tractor" quads, you're looking at, weighing in at (est) 700-750#, plus a (est) 300# trailer to haul it on... That could put quite the extra load on your brakes/axles/suspension. Pretty sure the CAN roads department will go by the vehicle door sticker, and not take into account any additions (larger capacity axle/engine/etc) you've installed.

You know its kinda funny because you guys have all seen how much he loves the shop lately. But you don’t get to see the times he doesn’t want to go back into the shop at all lol. Ive taken him outside to do his business and he refuses to come inside. He really does want to go home sometimes. But i do think he loves the upstairs because he is spoiled up there. And there are often more people up there and Cruzie is very much a people doggo. He loves to play, loves butt scratches and loves when people know where his treats are lol ✌️

A platform with carpet or rubber matting would be good on the steps in the shop for Cruze or some blocks to shorten the step height for those little legs. They even make shorter steps stools for seniors. Who ever mentioned a slide was probably referring to something like a platform.

Yeah. I've used 3/4 ply in my truck. 3M makes a fiberglass reinforced foam board. It's much lighter, stronger and is homogeneous so no mold issues. Also has insulation properties. I want to rebuild everything with it.

Most people install a swivel on the front passenger seat so that they can also use it in their home
