I'm normally a welder/fabricator but I'm trying to learn to 3d modeling and 4 programs at once. You definitely helped with a piece of the puzzle, thank you.

@@GenieCrafts yeah I learned a little cad with fusion 360 and stumbled into 3d modeling. It can definitely be tricky stuff, good luck buddy.

Thanks so much! Very simple and straightforward. I've gotten to the point where I have a lot of models ready to unfold and make for the first time, models that I've made, not taken from the pepakura website where all the unfolding is already done for you. Even having worked with pepakura for years I was so confused when trying to unfold my own for the first time.
Also something strange I noticed, when you first unfolded the seahorse as a demonstration (before specifying cut edges), pepakura automatically cut it in a way as to not let any faces overlap... but when I did it to my model, it overlapped all faces, keeping the entire model in one group. I can't seem to find a setting to change that, but for now it shouldn't matter
I will check if there is any setting enabled in my end. Will let you know. But best practice is to specify your own cutline edges
@@GenieCrafts Thanks, in this tutorial you were on Pepakura 4 but it’s updated to Pepakura 5 now, maybe something changed. I didn’t know what the cutline edge tool was before you used it, I think as long as I can set those cut edges well then it won’t matter if I can’t get it to automatically unfold without face overlapping

Bro, i downloaded a 3D model from sketchfab to unfold. When i did it the colours did not transfer. The object was white. Is there a reason for this? When i downloaded, it downloaded as two files 'source' and 'textures'. What to do to add the textures to the source object?
If you load .obj file, it will have colors also.
My 3d model is showing many small lines so they was create problem in template...??
When u load the template, what is the face count it shows while loading. Normally internet downloaded models are not low poly. Ideally you should not use a model which has a face count of more than 500. Max u can go till 1000. Please share more details on crafts.genie@gmail.com

@@mirajnurani7777 by options you mean the type of 3D file - .stl, .obj, .fbx etc… for Pepakura the best options are .obj and .stl
