Even the spectator and concession revenue makes a huge difference for these establishments. Go to the track this weekend and eat and drink a little something and watch some races.
@@zethloveless7238 I couldn’t agree more strongly. I was starting to think that I was the only one that noticed the serious lack of attendance at local and national event venues. I first became aware of the situation when Covid restrictions were lifted. I just thought people were hesitant about going out in public at first. But now a few years later and nothing has changed. Drag racing has been a big part of my life as a participant and spectator for 58 years and hell yes the situation bothers me 🏁.

I finally have a local track to go to again. I spent quite a bit of my life as a kid at the KCIR in the 90's thanks to my father who used to race there. I heard about this track, but didn't realize it was open. Seeing this video has me more excited then I've ever been in a good while. Thank you for the content. You can bet your skippy ass I'll be going to this track and supporting it. I'll bring the whole family in fact. Now I can bring my kids to the track like my dad did with his. Literally brings tears to my eyes.
Yeah, damn near broke my heart when KCIR was forced out by landowners who came along decades later knowing full well they were moving into a location where a long established race track operated. Some people suck. That's all I can say. Hopefully this new track will operate as long or longer than did KCIR. I first visited KCIR shortly after it opened in 1967. I attended IHRA, AHRA, and NHRA events there over the span of several decades. In the 70's and 80/s this was my home track for my A/Mod Nova. So many great memories were all but wiped out with the loss of this venue. So glad the folks out in Odessa built us locals a world-class track in our backyards. Hell, I might even get back into racing. Nothing big, mind you. More for the purpose of justifying visiting the track and hanging out again with grassroots racers.
Hopefully we can get cleetus to bring a cleetus and cars to flying H and maybe even do a danger ranger on dirt at i70 speedway! It’s the perfect facility to make it happen!
I really hope, (even though i live on the other side of the world pretty much) That this track has a long and successful future. It really bums me out hearing about all the tracks getting closed down due to real estate and such over there. Happy for the people running it, it is a beatiful facility!
So glad to call this my home track! The track is amazing and the crew is doing a great job with the facility! I'll definitely have some on track footage this season here!
This track has been around for decades. Used to be a track nascar would use. Closed down years ago, then brought back to life and added the drag strip.
I think it’s hilarious that I’m 90 minutes south of Kc & mildly into the street car/small tire community & I honestly didn’t have a fuggin clue about this track coming up in this area of time. I might have had heard something the end of last year or the beginning of the year but nothing lately!! So that just says something about promoting!!
I'm an hour south of KC and did not know about this. And we don't have diddly for options out here. I'm 75 minutes from Oddessa, an 70 minutes from Topeka, 65 minutes from Humboldt (which I've never even been to) and 2.5 hours from Wichita. Middle of racing BFE!
Took my wife and boys to this race. Which ended up being their first time at a drag track. Took them to the oval track a few years ago too. Both facilities are great and we had a lot of fun. Boys were really into it and we stayed till the last race Saturday. Saw the 1320 Crew there and have been waiting for this video to drop!
I raced on the half mile asphalt oval in a street stock 83 olds Cutlass, a 78 Monte Carlo, a 70 Monte Carlo from 96 to 02. Glad to see the facility is back.
Wow! If only we could have a 1/4 mile track like that again in the Minneapolis area. Also I love the finish line time boards (clear) and the checkered "flag" win light!

This is great. I grew up in that town In my whole family is from and live there. It was just a blight, for so many years It sat empty. Was a great dirt track in its day and then it got shut down and sat empty for I can't tell you how many years. And then the surrounding community fought against letting these guys do what they're doing now because the noise. But you see where it's at if you're there, they're not bothering anybody. And if it's bringing money to the town & the area, more power! I'm so excited and so happy they're finally finishing the project and they're having some world class racing going on out there. That's just great. I'll be out to check it out for sure. Especially now that they have the drag up and running!!! Not much of a circle track fan, unless it's dirt, but I'll certainly watch some quarter mile action... So awesome, so excited. I just heard ads on the radio about this last week. I had no idea that it was less than an hour from me though! So cool to see tracks coming up rather than closing up!

Many thanks to 1320 Video. I still have VHS tapes like “Nighttime Fuel And Fire” from over 30 years ago in my collection. One of those grandstands has an imprint of my ass in it.
