I was never taught tanhaji and such real history of ours.
    Or tanhaji is lie.
I was never taught about veer savarkar, but just a passing passage.
I learnt very late that there were such great rajput kings who imprisoned mughals.
    I was not taught.
All I was taught was Shanti, and ahimsa, and I was put eye blinders, not see and be shocked at the hindu and Sikh genocides.
If new methods are available to historians, it's correct to use them to reevaluate our history.
Around 1947 we didn't engage in freedom wars, did we.
    It was transfer of power.
I was never taught about 55 crores given against our wishes.

Why are you blaming books and teachers for ignorance? Why didn't you take the responsibility for your knowledge and go to a library or download pdf on your phone?
This is what over-exposure to right wing content does, it makes you think of yourself as a victim instead of the culprit.
Stop blaming others for your ignorance.
P.S. what happened on 1947 was indeed independence not transfer of power. IDK what nonsense you learn in your WhatsApp group.

Ancient Indian History is not only cast India's proud heritage and contributions must ne taught.

With my limited history knowledge learnt in school, I was suprised when Eminent prof Habib shares that, Amir khusroo praised india first time in his poem. Many south indian temples priest even today mention about bharat varsha when receiting ancient vedas. Vikram also shares example of Shakthi peethas and Shankaracharya's main four mutts, which culturally integrated Bharat/India as one cultural civilization.
Today Modi government has muslim govt employees working. Does the communist call it a secular government ? If some muslim invader puts a hindu governor in Kabul what is so great ? Wasn't afghanistan not having hindu population before invaders occupied ? Can britisher be called saints, just because they employed indians ?
Vikram is more accomodative and suggesting better understanding with new discovery and tools. Every nation rewritting history cannot be accused and brushed as fascist. Many countries do for various reason from new tools/discovery. There may be many faults in right wing narrative, but Prof Habib is so ideologically inclined to even accept little truth in right wight narratives or disovery of new tools/discovery/different viewpoints. None need to agree to me.
Atleast I am not happy of having read a history book written by Prof Habib during my school day. I would have loved to hear multiple viewpoint/ narratives including Habib's or right wing based on well researched facts.

I mean, many says Sikhs were killed by oppressive Mughals😅 😅😅...
Any historical sources would mention that Sikhs had rebelled against Mughals... Now, we know what happened when modern Indian govt faced a Sikh rebellion.
And REMEMBER BTW! THE STATE POWER TODAY IS EXTREMELY MORE THAN THE TIME OF MUGHALS....
LET'S NOT FORGET HOW RAJPUTS LOOKED AT SOUTH INDIANS😂😂.

Historiography or writing of history is not static nor should it be limited to the literate only. India has ancient texts which were written down as Itihaasa, we have also had the tradition of oral history. For a historian all of these are sources and rewriting our textbooks does not have to mean rewriting history! On the contrary, the subject can be made more interesting with multiple versions. Let's guide the children to engage their mental faculties rather than memorizing dates!

Hey, stop living in myths and denial mode. Remember, India as a political nation concept may be fairly new. However, the idea of a united India or the realization of it had took place thousands of years back only. Right from the time of Mauryan Empire to the Marathas (from whom Britishers took over), India as a civilization did exist. And brother, it was Britain who actually tried to destroy and dismantle the ethnic culture of Bharat or India.
