The Enigma of Saraswati I A Scholar's Perspective @indianhistoryarchaeology
SYNOPSIS:
Described in the oldest texts of the Rigveda, Saraswati surpassed in majesty and might all other rivers. Pure in her course from the mountains to the ocean, she descended with a roar down the slope, her fierce current gurgling through its canyon course, containing ~powerful floods inside her. She was the “perfect mother, unsurpassed river, supreme goddess” (Sindhumata).
She finds repeated mentions in Brahamanas and the Mahabharata, in the Puranas and the Smritis. Saraswati intrigued philosophers and poets for generations.
Over thousands of years, as no such river flowed in the physical form, she assumed an other-worldly or mythical status in the minds of Indians, who continue to ve...

History of Sufism In India I Moin Mir
Просмотров 1,7 тыс.Год назад
#sufism in #india is associated with mysticism - from #kashmir to #kanyakumari our land is abound with legends of great fakirs, magical amulets, and sacred dargahs. Far away from the strict tenets of Orthodox Islam, Sufism spread and prospered in India for centuries, operating in a largely spiritual domain. Millions of Indians, regardless of their religious affiliations, still flock to shrines ...

The Indus Valley Civilization ended/relocated in 1900 bc. The Vedic Aryan culture appears in 100AD with the enforcement of endogamy varna jati system on a freely, extensively mixing ANI population. Pl. Google 'caste no bar' by anupriya

The IVC ended relocated in 1500bc. The so called Aryan Vedic culture - Saraswati appears only in 100AD that is 2000 years after the IVC. So how is any continuity between the two The absence of weapons of war is part of the strategy . No waste of resources on impossible defense tactics. Comprehensive Evacuation would be the wiser option, when faced with imminent invasion as is the case with the IVC in 1900bc.😮

Eating habits changed introducing brahmin and vegetarian If it's continuous why has everything changed???? Some tribes from the West changed everything maybe they are Refugees from the West because of the Yamanaya Tribe

The nomadic Steppe pastoralist cattle herders ( low caste Shudras) arrived in 1500bc, mixed and merged with the native AASI to create the ANI wth Steppe ancestry until 100AD. The Vedic Aryan culture (different from the Steppe influenced ANI culture) arrived and introduced Endogamy in 100AD practise to prevent the Vedic Aryans from mixing with the extensively mixed native ANI population

Saraswati is evidently a non existant river of mythological significance. The attempt to associate the saraswati with the IVC appears to mislead Archeology and history. The Steppe people were cattle herders not the religious class who appear in 100Ad along with chariots related narratives, Endogamy, the caste system ,segregation when the population was extensively mixed and distinguighable.now known as ANI.

Sati was not an isolated incident for Raja Rammohan Roy who witnessed the wailing of his own sister-in-law forced to die on the pyre and could not stop it as a young boy. Raja also denounced caste system. The 1829 ban on Sati was challenged by a petition signed by "several thousand... Hindoo inhabitants of Bihar, Bengal, Orissa" (wikipedia). 25 yrs later Vidyasagar fought for widow remarriage, abolition of polygamy, child marriage and female education to raise the status of women & widow.

The Steppe ancestry appears on the Indus Valley landscape only after 1500bc. So all cultural and linguitic actvity will have reference to a period only post 1500bc. The IVC dissppeared in 1900bc. No human remains found to suggest an invasion So, the IVC was evacuated safely and it appears they migrated east and south -mixed with the native hunter gatherers and became the ASI

~32:30 “The person in Rural Bihar doesn’t care about your perception or philosophical outlook to what India is”: The speaker is entitled to his opinions but to see this as anything more than his opinion - unless he can show statistically significant data to support this claim which certainly doesn’t figure in this video at least - is to be fooled by his data and analysis credential. To undermine the nation in thinking of solutions for states is far easier than to think of how to move forward together. Where does this atomisation end? Should Poes Garden in Chennai ask to opt out of Tamizh Naad? It is one thing to argue for better policy rationale within the framework of a nation-state. It is quite another thing to use that as a ruse to deconstruct the nation itself. Only one of these views is constitutional.

It appears the Indus Valley was entirely abandoned in 1900bc as a strategic response to an imminent invasion by warring horseriding Andrenova/Sintashta/Steppe cultures. The unexpected evacuation preempted the invasion. Subsequently the IVC it seems continued east and South of India mixing with the native hunter gatherers and becoming the ASI. The IVC lay abandoned for 400 years until pastorolist from Europe and Central Asia settled the valley bringing new language religion and the Vedic age. Other male biased groups it appears❤moved into the indo gangetic plain and mixed with the native hunter gatherers giving origins to the AN.

This discussion takes it for granted that the oddly assembled bits of geographical area left behind by the British is somehow a nation. Compare it to Europe. Norway and Italy have more in common than do Gujarat and Maharashtra. Europe has cultural unity, and is not a nation but a civilization. So is India. Nation is at best, to use Anderson's phrase, an imagined community. Language on the other hand is real in every sense of the word. In any political entity a common platform of discussion is needed if people are to have a say in their affairs. Neither India nor Europe has such a common platform. Europeans are sensible and don't seek to combine all of Europe into a single political entity. The idea of India as a nation exists only in the prejudiced mind of the ruling anglophone elite. English is the language of everything in india that has to do with India as a whole. Columns written in English are often published in vernacular languages and the editors don't bother to inform their readers of their anglograph provenance. I have never come across in any english language newspaper in India a column written originally in any indian vernacular. More books on indian history are written in Korean or Russian than in all Indian vernaculars put together. In the bibliography of any book or academic article on indian history, i have never come across references to anything written in any indian vernacular except in infrequent instances when a primary source is cited. Access to English is cruelly restricted by the ruling elite because the only way that Indians learn English is by attending exorbitantly priced English medium schools. Public libraries in most big cities in the US make a wide range of resources available to anyone who wants to learn English. In contrast, it's impossible to learn English as an adult in india,, aa most entities that promise to teach English to adults are run by crooks far from fluent in English.

Pretty conclusive then, largely Britain's fault and a wonderfully impartial moderator. The offer by the United States to give grain to India scuppered not because of British reluctance to allow them to poke their bugle in, but more on the grounds that the Bay of Bengal was rife with Japanese submarines. A moderator who is particularly forgiving of his fellow country men who shot their own people.

Yajur Arora, in answer to your question were Germans held accountable for killing their own people, Germans, Ukrainians and Poles who found themselves in the Einsatzgruppen or other units who killed their own people and others were prosecuted. Not every one, some escaped, but largely yes, a serious attempt was and has been attempted to bring to book those who took part in this. Further, you make the point that India has not had the problem of people starving since independence. That's not my memory of events - India has suffered from famines that brought loss of life, particularly in the 1970s.

    12. Also, parents and elders in today's family are no longer valued they are being taken as additional responsibilities and duties not out of love and respect. Nobody has time for them. They have become like weight on the chest. 13. The moral compass has gone for a toss because the women who are so important and can do it all and be it all are no longer available to their children and the future of tomorrow. The generations gen z and millennials have no Moral compass or values. Forget that they don't think it's necessary to have a moral compass and values. 14. We should actually sit back and think what are we raising? Who are these kids of future generations ? Haven't we proved already that women can do it all and be it all ? So many years of women working has been a slap to all those who demeaned the woman.. but the question is until when ? Until when do we have to keep proving ? The future (kids) is getting affected in the process and if only the men understand the importance and value of women and her responsibilities outside of work and the smallest and menial jobs then the imbalance we are facing in this current world today can be restored. No force to the women who WANT TO work. I am talking about the women who HAVE TO work.

I think you missed a few points to discuss in this topic I would like to list them down and would be happy to see a talk on that 1. Increased rate of depression in women 2. Increased rate of depression in other genders 3. Increased rate of depression in children (young & adult) 4. Increased rate of depression in new born babies. 5. Lack of importance given to mental and emotional well being 6. Increased rate of divorce 7. Increased rate of extra marital affairs cause the women are no longer feminine in their energy and are so masculine in energy 8. Everyone wants the money that comes from when women work but nobody wants to be a part of the sacrifice and challenges that come in. 9. I think you also have to view from the millenial and Gen z point of view and how their thought processes have changed in a way where they don't want to take up responsibility or provide in their own (men especially) 10. Relationships and marriages are no longer relationships and Marriages they are more like business deals and projects. 11. One big challenge comes in where one partner has to support a bit more this generation cannot take that. And this generation in that situation runs 100 steps backwards from the relationship. Talk about this. Maybe also bring in someone from today's generation and also bring in a home maker along with this same panel.
