Beautiful video and storytelling. I had the privilege of seeing the Swift Parrots in my hometown in south-east Qld recently, then Regent Honeyeater just up the road the next week! Extraordinary turn of events. The tragedy is you never know if it'll be the last time you see them.
I saw them in Toowoomba too! How cool was it?!
Yep, definitely something I'm always thinking about, it's hard to ignore the human impact on species when you're out there viewing it first hand.
I just stumbled blindly into this video on RUclips. What a lovely video! It’s refreshing and original. If this is your first one, I can’t wait to follow more of your journeys here.
Great video and echoed so many of my own feelings and experiences. Good to know others go through the same feelings on these crazy quests. I’ve just come back from a road trip where I passed through Toowoomba, and stopped to look for the Regent Honeyeater . . Without luck I’m afraid. Maybe “ it’s not my time”! I like that attitude. And in the meantime there’s plenty to see. . Or not! But it’s all good.
Great video, thanks for taking us on your adventure. I agree looking for birds and animals is like treasure hunting. That yellow footed antechinus was sooo cute. I once had a flock of more than 50 Swift Parrots sharing a campground with me near Dunolly in Vic, but that was 20 years ago. ;-)
@@nom_b thanks! I’m glad you liked it. I wish I had more footage of the Yellow-footed Antechnius but he was so quick!
That would have been amazing sharing a campground with the Swift Parrots, they’re really amazing birds 😁😁
Superb video Karl. Keep them coming buddy!
Thanks so much! Yep got a couple more in the pipeline already 😁
Nice work Indiana Paustian. Loved the journey to the Temple of Bloomin Parrots. 🦜
haha - thanks so much mate!
What a video Karl, it perfectly encapsulates the thoughts of a birder and its so great being able to see this in a form of a video. Great to see the swift parrot twitch too... definitely going to be trying to replicate this twitch next year if they come again. Looking forward for more to come mate, awesome job.
Thanks mate, really appreciate the feedback. Yep my hope for birders was this video would really feel like what it's like to go after a species you've never seen before, in a new location. And for non-birders I hope it's just interesting to see what we put ourselves through 😅.
Nice video, I look forward to seeing swift parrots as soon as possible!
They were amazing Tim! I wish you all the luck in seeing them!
Very cool video to watch, love your style of storytelling. I am looking forward to the next video!
Thanks so much, I'm glad you enjoyed it, and the style -- When I was in the middle of making it I was asking myself 'Is this anything?'
This was awesome mate! Came out so well 😊 Keep making the videos please!
I think I can make that happen 😁
Great video Karl, I had the privilege to see (I assume the same) swift parrots as you in Queensland recently, thanks to other online birders. There really is nothing else quite like watching a critically endangered bird in the wild acting completely normally.
Glad you liked it 😁. And yep, completely agree - so amazing to see the Swift Parrots just bopping about like Lorikeets at a local park. Super special.
Great video, I enjoyed joining you on the whole journey. One day hope to see Swift Parrots and let’s hope they are around for future generations to enjoy.
Such a great watch! Keen to see what's next 🤘.
Chees Matt - glad ya liked it mate!
Awesome work mate! Very well done.
Thanks heaps mate! Appreciate it!
Loved it. You’ve set a high bar with the first video Karl
Cheers Scott! Really appreciate you saying that mate - I worked pretty hard on it 😃
Incredible first video Man, if this is only first I can't wait to see what comes next! Awesome that you saw them as well 😁
Ah cheers man, glad ya liked it. Had a lot of fun making it. Yeah would have made for a different video if I didn’t see them 🥲
Nice first video
Thanks so much mate. Your videos were definitely a big inspiration!
Too good mate! Really good first video!
Cheers mate! Appreciate it!
This video is AWESOME! I wish my first video was this good haha. Keep up the great work!
Cheers mate, I just checked out your channel too man, great stuff!
Top notch video mate. I can fully relate, there were hundreds of people photographing the Scarlet Chested Parrots here in SA, I was 2 months late and decided to go being unsure if they were still around. To my surprise I arrived and the park ranger directed me to them and there was even an arrow on the track showing exactly where they were feeding! In some ways it makes me feel bad for the people that had find these birds the hard way and spent years on it, then us social media researchers come through and get eye level shots first attempt. None of it's easy though, all the travelling and research you had to do. I even met someone while photographing the Scarlet chested parrots and they had searched for them for 20 years with no luck, good thing for social media they finally got to see them!
Thanks Kurtis. And I 100% agree with the dichotomy that social media has brought into the hobby. There are absolutely times where it does feel like a cheat-code in a video game. And there are sometimes when we ya have to make your own ethical decisions on whether or not this is negatively affecting the birds (I have to say in this case that I absolutely think that at least when I was there - everyone I encountered was treating the birds with respect and they didn't seem bothered by us at all).
What I will also see, is in my case, without social media - I can absolutely say I would not have stuck with bird photography. It would have been too hard to learn, too obtuse, and I would have given up a long time ago 🫠, so I'm very grateful for what social media allows.
Fantastic video! Very entertaining ...oh-oh I think I'm getting Swift fever 🦜
Oh it comes on quick! Better check your temperature 🤒
Nice work mate, great narration 🙌
Cheers buddy. I always knew I had the voice of an angel 👼
Make more videos! You have a good niche here.

Thanks Roger! Really appreciate it! Yep, I've seen some of your photos from there, such a top spot ey 😁
Great video Karl!👌
Thanks Adrian, and thanks for all your help 😉.
Anyime pal. Glad it paid off!
That was really cool. Thanks for sharing. Subbed..unlike those Melbournians 😅
Cheers mate! Glad you liked it. Those Melbournians probably didn’t have time to sub, places to be!
*for the record I am happy for any and all subs, and have no animosity to anyone, from any capital city 😁😁😁
Very creative but factual
Thanks Kurtis! Appreciate it mate!
