@@amnone3925 oh good. I thought I did. Noticing there’s a variety of comments on multiple videos that say I didn’t mention things that I 100% did. Interesting. Thanks so much for watching!
Operating system is strictly a matter of taste... some like MacOS, iPad OS, Windows or whatever else. If your preference is iPad OS, I think 85% of people could use an iPad Pro w/Magic Keyboard as their computer. Now, when you get to the 15% who need very specific software or workflows, them a traditional computer is clearly the way.
You can 100% compare the two. If they were equivalent products what you said would be true but they aren’t. They are purposely different and so discussion of those differences and the advantages and disadvantages is completely warranted.
Great video, I’ve been iPad Pro only for a number of years, not a content creator tbh, but use it for photo editing and basic videos. Just bought an M1 MacBook Air so going the opposite way to you!
Thanks man! Kinda the story I was trying to paint. It’s a great middle ground to use for awhile before you transition to a computer. Either way they’re both awesome products.
The main problem with the iPad pros at this point is the software. I mean "yes" maybe it can replace some peoples workflow, but the crippled versions of the iPad apps don't really make it an appealing option imo (yet) to replace a laptop, and I honestly don't think it ever will. Apple will be too afraid of cutting their MacBook margins and essentially offering two different versions of laptops.
I 100% agree. Everything we WANT from the iPad won’t happen because it would eat up the laptop sales. Like I said in the video though I do think it’s a great stepping stone. While people with experience in these pro apps see the iPad versions as inferior less useful apps I’ve found that people who are new to these programs and workflows find the process to be much easier and more accessible on iPad. I kinda see it as a creative tool stepping stone currently.
Replaced my ipad pro with an ipad mini, the only real tablet imo. Unless apple gives an option to log into either of macOS or ipadOS at startup,i don’t see the purpose of m powered ipads barring a select few artists maybe.

At some point I’ll review and speak about devices like the MacBook Air or other casual focused devices and those vids will be all about web browsing, entertainment, and emails. Thanks for watching!
Good video! Thanks for laying all this out for us. One exception though. You say if a person doesn't have a laptop and they're deciding between a macbook and an ipad, they should seriously consider the ipad? You cannot be serious. Laptops, especially an uber capable one like a macbook, runs circles around an ipad in almost every way. Ipad might be decent as a second computing device, but if you don't already have a laptop, that has to be the first acquisition! I'll grant you the ipad's use of the pencil and touchscreen. And also the portability and comfort of the ipad, but even then I still prefer my macbook for comfort. I hate holding the ipad to use. I can use my macbook without holding in almost any position, slumped or not. Plus I can position the screen at any possible angle so it's ideal whereas my ipad folio stand only has 3 position and none of them are ideal. Plus I don't have to buy any stupid case for my macbook unlike the ipad. And how much for the magic keyboard on top of the exorbitant prices for ipads just to make it come close to matching a macbook? I say fock you to Apple for the ridiculous price of that keyboard. Greedy anti consumer company. Like the biggest, most profitable company in the history of the world has to keep gouging and scamming their customers. Like finally the EU made them use USB-C on iphones like they should have done long ago. How about thinking of your customers' benefits instead of always trying to put a wall up to prevent competition (i.e. what's good for your customers) instead of doing what's right for the world at large just to squeeze out a few more dollars. Or not intentionally slowing down iphones so people will go buy another one. Fock you Apple! (Even though I buy many of their products) I have many iphones and they do many things well like camera, build quality, battery life but they are still like a child's toy compared to what you can do on an Android. But the workflow of the macbook is 10x of the ipad, especially when you consider bettertouchtool for the trackpad and touchbar. Anyway, that's my opinion. Thanks again for the video!
Thanks for watching! Some good points. I’m pretty sure that I mention in the video that the distinction in considering the iPad comes into skill level. I know I mentioned this in a comment a day or two ago. The iPad is a phenomenal starting device for content creation and the pro apps are much more initially accessible. The iPad is also much more appealing to people not already in the tech sphere. I know plenty photographers that do all of their workflow on iPad and I know new creators who are just learning software basics on iPad. It presents a completely different spin on software interaction and that interaction is actually incredibly popular outside of the more traditional tech user sphere. I’m obviously not trading my MacBook out for an iPad anytime soon. But I’d still recommend anyone who needs an all in one creation device. Of course when we get into specs and price id get more specific like “look for this year and sku on Facebook market” or “Check the Apple refurbished site on Tuesdays”. Either way. They all have a niche that enjoys their device and Apple wouldn’t be creating and distributing the device without the market research to back up the investment.
Media creation? Could be... But Engineering? Definite NO. But then... It is the same M2 chip.... Why they are not allowing MacOS on iPad Pro? This will kill off MS Surface in a single blow.
The Apple keyboard costs $269 and the base model M1 iPad Air costs $600. That's more than the M1 MacBook Air which is often on sale for $750 on Amazon. You make good points in your video about the different ways you can be productive, but personally I wouldn't be able to pass up on a MacBook Air with a real desktop OS, bigger screen, keyboard, etc... I don't want to come off as a d*ck, just replying with my opinion. Good video man. Keep it up.
100% understandable. But you can grab an M1 MacBook Air for 400 on Facebook market in my are right now and connect literally any usb C or Bluetooth keyboard to it. You get a multitude of options with it like you do with any keyboard. I don’t even have an M1 or M2 iPad and I’m able to do all of this stuff for it. I’d say it’s a lot easier to shop a deal on a USB C iPad than a recent MacBook. Not to say you SHOULD get one over a laptop. There’s just options and you could do a ton with either or.
The iPad Air goes on sale as well and you could go with the Logitech Combo keyboard which is way less. Price isn’t really a factor between the iPad and Air it’s form factor preference.
Apple is purposely holding the technology field back. They're doing it to maximize profits. We should have a single device that does everything and can seamlessly switch between phone/tablet/PC. The technology has been around for years, but Apple would never do it because their bottom line will get destroyed. They get to sell basically the same device (phone/tablet/PC) to morons three times every single year. Why would they ever care to advance the field and make it more intuitive? The fact is, a current-gen iPhone has just as much power as a full-fledged computer. They should make it so it's a phone, tablet, or computer depending on how it's docked. It's the size of a phone; dock it into a 10-inch housing, and it becomes a tablet or connect it to a hub with a monitor, and it's a computer. It's a very easy thing to accomplish, but imagine Apple losing all that money by not being able to sell phones, tablets, and computers every year. The so-called green company that's responsible for more e-waste and pollution than any other company in the world because they have morons upgrading perfectly good devices every year while selling 30 different devices where one can accomplish the same functionality.
can tech RUclipsrs stop trying to make the iPad what its not when its clearly limited by software. anything you can do on a MacBook is just going to be a much more watered down and inconvenient way of doing it on an iPad. the iPad is a toy and watching tech RUclipsrs try to make a case for the iPad lineup for real work is equivalent of the mmm so goof chef meme.
I feel like I made a pretty good point of the iPad being a middle ground between the MacBook and the iPhone. Also clearly stated that there are things simpler and more accessibly done on the iPad while there are also workloads that are less convenient to do on the device. Did you watch the video?
No, it’s not a toy. It is a real tool for artists and musicians, and most people can do the large majority of daily tasks on an iPad. What you can’t do is format external drives, multitask easily, and use it as a server for something like Plex, among other things.
first of all, any musician is using a Mac. as for artists you're talking about a very niche group of people. contrary to RUclipsrs and apples marketing may have you believe, these "creative" jobs don't exist for most people and the people who get them get in by sheer luck. so theres basically very few people the iPad actually makes sense for over a Mac in the real word lmao@@mmp64
That toy is producing quality, professional work for us professional writers, editors, media professionals across all industries. That your limited understanding and ease of technology skews a rather inanely and dismissive opinion is quite telling of how many people still lack the competitive skills needed. Its capacity is within what we know how to utilize with our tech and tools. It’s definitely part of the workflow if you are a wise enough to use it.

Thanks for watching the video man! I hear you.
That’s fair. We will have to wait and see what happens.
can tech RUclipsrs stop trying to make the iPad what its not when its clearly limited by software. anything you can do on a MacBook is just going to be a much more watered down and inconvenient way of doing it on an iPad. the iPad is a toy and watching tech RUclipsrs try to make a case for the iPad lineup for real work is equivalent of the mmm so goof chef meme.
Well said. Indeed ipad is a toy
