The soloists are so powerful that it's hard not to focus on them, but the harmonic and rhythmic intricacies of the background parts create something truly beautiful all on their own. This is not just a song... The music video revolves around a word of mouth Bolivian legend, from the 19th century, which concerns a deaf boy who fled from his abusive home and found a stray dog that accompanied him since then. After living on the streets for long time he discovers that he has a special talent of perceiving people's troubles, which he can heal by screaming. His screaming is said to be as loud as an earthquake and a tornado. One day, the boy finds an old man who is being stoned by villagers while being taunted and ridiculed. By screaming, the boy resolves the situation and revives the old man's heart (in the video, the boy buys a new heart for the man). Together, they meet a disfigured man who was abused, considered a leper by society. The disfigured man reveals that he is a prophet who was cursed by a demon (El Tio) because he didn't worship him, and abandoned the society where the demon resided. El Tio is considered as the lord of the underworld, to whom mortal people offer gifts to him in order to be protected by him or to ease his anger. The prophet said anybody who could hear the demon would fall under his control. He told them the demon could be found in desert, where there once was a town in which people worshipped the demon and he cursed them to kill themselves. Together they go to the place where the demon should reside. They arrive at a mine where the demon is supposed to be, but anybody who enters and could be cursed after hearing the demon speak. And so the boy alone could go into the mine to meet the demon and over voice him with his scream to stop him from cursing others. He stays in the cave for the rest of eternity screaming at the demon to prevent him from cursing other people ever again. I'm a big fan, by the way..

1:50 and 3:33 I ABSOLUTELY adore this scene, this arrangement. More than any performance, be it of PTX, or of any artist ever. Each one of them is vibin' to their own part, as if nothing else matters. Nevertheless, there's just one perfect harmony we hear. They are circled around. Even the camera isn't what they care the most at this very moment. It is the harmony instead. At the same time, they have opened up just enough for us to be there. Furthermore, what each of them contributes is nothing but their own voice. Such pureness.

Any Scott fans out there?? I think Scott deserves way more recognition. So many comments about individual PTX members, but I don't see Scott enough. Maybe because he's sorta the main singer & it's cool to fan on anyone besides the main... Imo, Scott is incredible! He absolutely kills his parts every single time and never disappoints. I can't believe how good he sounds live. I feel all members of PTX are super strong and Scott is the super glue that brings them all together.

This is a brilliant mashup, because it sets up a conversation between the obsessive, possessive boyfriend ("Latch") and the partner who sees through his bullshit ("La La La"). It peels back the seeming-romance and shows the ugliness underneath. Extraordinary.
@@eliakimrodrigues Not really. When these two songs are put together they do kind of make a narrative. One side of the song is singing about "latching on" and "got you shackled in my embrace" to the other person and feeling love so strong it's a physical sensation while the other half of the song is saying they don't want to hear it anymore and that "enough is enough". It's perfectly reasonable to interpret this mashup as the ending of a toxic relationship.
Kristin is amazing in this. I'm so glad you his finally featured her more in a song - I feel like she's been kinda pushed to the side a bit sometimes by the guys but when she gets a chance to shine she really does. Obviously everyone else is amazing as always, it's just really cool that she finally gets more of a meaty featured vocal for once.

I'm an old school acapella guy and I have to say the more I hear these super talented youngsters the more impressed I am by their musicality, musicianship, dedication, and how they stretch themselves to embrace a new piece of music. I would love to hear a song written just for them. I think that would be a real treat.

I almost hate myself for favoring their older stuff over the more recent. Don't get me wrong, Ptx is still amazing as always, their success is more than well deserved, and I'll miss Avi forever, but there's that almost tangible sense of unity in their older videos and sound. Like they were all in a harmonious group, down to do what they do rather than five people striving to do better on as individuals standing next to each other.
kirstie is getttin better, Mitch and Scott's blending is perfect. THAT CRESENDO AND THEN RUN WAS FLAWLESS~!! Avi's base is SICK and I can literally feel the vibrations throught the ground....and I'm in a chair. Kevin's AMAZING at what he does and just...THEY'RE SO TALENTED.
I don't think Kirstie is necessarily gettin better, she was always this good, she's an amazing singer. Kirstie is slowly getting more and more big parts of the song, because now a lot of the ones requested require her instead of the baratone Scott. People are realizing now actually how good she is because she rewlly infact is starting to get a chance to shine. :)

Also, if you think that the work done in recording studios is discrediting their real voices then how do you listen to any recordings? Literally any artist is going to go into a studio and work it til it's perfect, and add touches that they know they won't be able to do live. At 95% of artists sound better on the recorded version than live because they have the time to do it over and over and pick the best version. Live you just have to do your best and hope your voice does what you want it to do. Of course live is going to sound more raw. Not just for a capella groups but for ANYONE.
Grace Peterson couldn't have said it any better... Plus sometimes PTX sounds BETTER live than their recordings... Same with straight no chaser... At least when Jerome sings.. I think accapella groups are in general better live singers because they have to sing so much. The literally sing the entire time even if they aren't singing the lead. I know that PTX have been training to become better live performers by running while singing and it's showing. I love them and I love accapella music.

The music video revolves around a word of mouth Bolivian legend, from the 19th century, which concerns a deaf boy who fled from his abusive home and found a stray dog that accompanied him since then. After living on the streets for long time he discovers that he has a special talent of perceiving people's troubles, which he can heal by screaming. His screaming is said to be as loud as an earthquake and a tornado. One day, the boy finds an old man who is being stoned by villagers while being taunted and ridiculed. By screaming, the boy resolves the situation and revives the old man's heart (in the video, the boy buys a new heart for the man). Together, they meet a disfigured man who was abused, considered a leper by society. The disfigured man reveals that he is a prophet who was cursed by a demon (El Tio) because he didn't worship him, and abandoned the society where the demon resided. El Tio is considered as the lord of the underworld, to whom mortal people offer gifts to him in order to be protected by him or to ease his anger. The prophet said anybody who could hear the demon would fall under his control. He told them the demon could be found in desert, where there once was a town in which people worshipped the demon and he cursed them to kill themselves. Together they go to the place where the demon should reside. They arrive at a mine where the demon is supposed to be, but anybody who enters and could be cursed after hearing the demon speak. And so the boy alone could go into the mine to meet the demon and over voice him with his scream to stop him from cursing others. He stays in the cave for the rest of eternity screaming at the demon to prevent him from cursing other people ever again. I'm a big fan, by the way..

He has a habit of burping when he talks and messing up lyrics on live radio sessions, but makes up for it with his hilarious sense of humor.
Mitch Grassi: the sassy and sarcastic Queen of the group, the other co-host of "Superfruit," and the other talented lead singer with even more impressive high vocals for a guy. Kevin is qualified to be a doctor, fluent in Chinese, a beginner rapper, and has become the heart-throb of the band

I think Scott deserves way more recognition. So many comments about individual PTX members, but I don't see Scott enough. Maybe because he's sorta the main singer & it's cool to fan on anyone besides the main... Imo, Scott is incredible! He absolutely kills his parts every single time and never disappoints. I can't believe how good he sounds live. I feel all members of PTX are super strong and Scott is the super glue that brings them all together.

I'm an old school acapella guy and I have to say the more I hear these super talented youngsters the more impressed I am by their musicality, musicianship, dedication, and how they stretch themselves to embrace a new piece of music. I would love to hear a song written just for them. I think that would be a real treat.

I don't think Kirstie is necessarily gettin better, she was always this good, she's an amazing singer. Kirstie is slowly getting more and more big parts of the song, because now a lot of the ones requested require her instead of the baratone Scott. People are realizing now actually how good she is because she rewlly infact is starting to get a chance to shine. :)

This makes me very sleepy for some reason. Not that it's boring, no no. It's just very soothing and calming to me. I could listen to this on replay for hours and fall into a deep sleep. It's happened before; It can soothe me even at the most energetic I've been. I'm truly blown away. Marvellous, Magnificent, Mysterious, Calming and certainly Unique. I could go on forever. Dear people who think PTX sound too automated now,
1. Listen to them live. Besides a few sound adjustments to make their voices fill a track, they are singing everything that you hear!
2. We should be happy and proud that their production value has risen because that means that more people are hearing the PTX we know and love and have followed for so long! Higher production value just means they get to achieve the look/sound they want to make for us!
3. RECORDING SONGS DOES NOT DISCREDIT THEM AS AN A CAPELLA GROUP. DON'T YOU WANT TO LISTEN TO THEIR MUSIC WHEN THEY AREN'T LIVE IN FRONT OF YOU? WELL THEN THEY'RE GONNA HAVE TO RECORD IT.

Also, if you think that the work done in recording studios is discrediting their real voices then how do you listen to any recordings? Literally any artist is going to go into a studio and work it til it's perfect, and add touches that they know they won't be able to do live. At 95% of artists sound better on the recorded version than live because they have the time to do it over and over and pick the best version. Live you just have to do your best and hope your voice does what you want it to do. Of course live is going to sound more raw. Not just for a capella groups but for ANYONE.
Grace Peterson couldn't have said it any better... Plus sometimes PTX sounds BETTER live than their recordings... Same with straight no chaser... At least when Jerome sings.. I think accapella groups are in general better live singers because they have to sing so much. The literally sing the entire time even if they aren't singing the lead. I know that PTX have been training to become better live performers by running while singing and it's showing. I love them and I love accapella music.
