  • My Credit Card Retention Offer Experience (Did I receive enough to Keep it?)
    In this video, I will go over my experience in obtaining credit card retention offers for my American Express Hilton Surpass Credit Card and my Barclays AAdvantage Red Aviator Mastercard. I will determine if the retention offers received from these credit card issuers is worth keeping past the annual fee. In the end, I will provide the result if I decide to keep my American Express Hilton Surpass Card and Barclays AAdvantage Red Aviator Mastercard.

    Hey man thanks for sharing your experience. It helps me know how to do this for the future. I like the retaining the relationship plan. I like to do that too. Great video! And the hat is just amazing!

      Glad to hear it! Too bad I was not able to get a better offer, but the biggest factor has to be your spend. If you put alot of spend, the bigger the retention offer, if provided.

    Man those offers were disappointing. I wonder if you would've spent much more if the offer would have been considerably better. Thanks for sharing!

      Next time! The math on what i spent= valid offer. Its hard to justify earning hilton pts rather than transferrable currency bc their cpp and pts per night are horrid

    well timed video as I myself have the annual fee on both surpass and aviator red coming up! I will likely do the same and downgrade to a No annual fee card unless they give me an amazing offer. I think its better to apply for the Aspire outright and not upgrade the surpass. Nice vid

      Sounds great! So, one thing to note, if u want the barclays sub again in 2 years, you have to cancel the card, and NoT downgrade like me

    Those offers were insulting. The AA one more than the Hilton.

    • @jw0ng23
      @jw0ng23  29 дней назад

      Meh, i mean, only spending an annual fee and $5 will do that for a retention offer for AA

      It is possible, though, that Barclays offer was definitely on the app. The agent just repeated every offer from the app, waste of time IMO.

      @jw0ng23 well, I'm 0-2 on my last 2 request. The Aspire and the Platinum but I'm going to hit Amex up again on the Platinum. I have until 7/18 to pay it

    Those offers were pretty weak. Are you putting legit spend on these cards?

    • @jw0ng23
      @jw0ng23  29 дней назад

      There was a screenshot for the amex surpass on one of the chats, my annual spend was $2900, which includes the welcome offer spend ($2000), i only put about $900 after the bonus, hence, the low retention offer. You think it is low?

    • @chatanp
      @chatanp 29 дней назад

      @@jw0ng23 I can kinda see the low spend being in-part a reason for the lower retention offer. Amex likes to see active spend on their card, as they make money on the swipe fees.
      They may be worried that if they gave you a juicy retention offer of 50,000 Hilton points for $5000 in spend, you might just meet the required spend and then sock drawer the card.

    • @jw0ng23
      @jw0ng23  19 дней назад

      I do not disagree. While it is easy to earn Hilton pts, the pts per night are just ridiculous if you stay than more 5 nights annually, especially if you stay at mid to high end properties.
