We hope you enjoyed this week's tutorial! And our HUGE giveaway is still open, so don't forget to go to last weeks video and enter if you haven't already!
I appreciate you guys doing what you do for growing badminton. In the US, it’s not so popular statewide. However, as influencers such as yourself grow bigger I hope it will gain traction. Appreciate all your tips and guides keep up the great work!
Really great concept video. The best part about you guys is that you addressing really untouched tricks aur shots. I have been searching for this for a long time and I don't know you have noticed it or not but it's the only guide on returning drive serve on youtube.. that's just amazing... All the best guys, great going.
A very timely video. As you indicate, changes in the service laws and the ever-increasing power of modern rackets are allowing the server to achieve greater levels of variation without committing a service fault. I love whipping a drive serve down the centre line of the court when the receiver is positioned close to the centre line. It just ties them up in knots when the shuttle passed close to their body line and they have left themselves no space to work the racket in with the added benefit that, even if they do manage to block it, you have a pretty good idea where the shuttle is coming back to and can pounce on that crucial "third shot".
Definitely!! Hopefully this video can help you get any similar serves back if you ever face them :) Also, hopefully your opponents watch as well though so they can deal with your serves better haha
thankyou so much for making such good videos with genuine knowledge, I'm struggling with holding racket with proper badminton grip, I have already watched your badminton racket grip videos, if possible, please make a video about how you change your racket grip during a match, if possible record yourself and explain that this moment I have used this grip for this particular shot and so on... lots of love from India, thankyou!
Really useful - thanks again guys 👍 back on court tomorrow after nearly a 5-month break - can't wait, and can't wait to put your many super-clear and super-helpful tips into practice 😊
@@BadmintonInsight yes, enjoyed it, but rusty - need a few sessions to get back into the groove. What's the story with the Spain Masters? I was looking forward to following your progress ...
@@tomgravett7744 Unfortunately Greg is still suffering with some of his concussion symptoms and isn't quite back up to 100% fitness yet so we decided not to travel and risk a setback 😌
Flick and drive serves always ends up with a conflict! 😂 I have always been tucked - its fault🤣 Anyway - with this counter being ready for the drive serve - how can one get ready to rally further to take control after returning the drive? Countering the return 😄 I do drive serve a bit - i have it as a variation in the serves. usually don’t get successful returns but there are some who have good hand eye coordination who does massive returns. The only choice to get the rally going is to let the partner take the 3rd shot. Is there any other option? Will be difficult to control soon after the serve isn’t it?
They sure do! Yes if you anticipate the hard return you can communicate with your partner and make sure they are ready for the return (depending where you serve to this is usually down the middle) they can then play either a hard or soft shot into space on the 3rd shot!
"But this is a very hard shot to do," -Jenny "Or you could just ignore everything we've said so far and stand there and swing around your back like this..." -Greg "Wow! Did you see that?" -Jenny (Had previously seen another Badminton Insight video that said something about impressing your friends) Wow! Both return-of-serves are new concepts for me. I will have to practice.
One question, you use the bevel grip right? Do you switch to another grip after you saw what shot your opponent shot, or you just use the same grip(bevel)
Would you make a tutorial for deceptive cut smash? It is still difficult to control my hitting power, it turned out an easy target instead of deceptive.
please I have a request could I please get a badminton as a giveaway from your side for being a big fan as I practice a lot but I don't have enough money n this lockdown to buy a new racket so if you would help me it would be a great help for me please see to it
Great video, I love you guys! I have a question, can you make a racket head heavy or more head heavy by taping an electrical or lead tape on the head of the racket ? I have heard that Lin Dan used to tape his racket , I have seen strange white thing on LD's racket . If taping a racket's head is legit, could you guys make a video about ? Giving us info on it or maby even how to tape it effectively ? Thanks for reading this :) (that is if you did lol)
Thanks a lot for your kind words! We also read every comment :) Yes some players do, it is less common now as rackets are made to suit players more. It essentially just adds a bit of weight to the head of the racket
nice technique....great video.....hi....hope u r doing good.....we are not able to Play Badminton due to Pandemic.... Upload some highlights of your match... We are badly missing badminton.... It will be some relief to watch your match in these trying times.... Take care.... Thanks😇
I love your videos, Lets get you to 50k! Also a small doubt I started playing badminton (going for actual training) 3-4 months back and before that I was a total newbie. I have seen a great improvement in my game with just 4 months of training. I really love putting myself in torture of exercises to wear me out . But there is one thing that bugs me a lot. I hate it when I slice the smashes, usually when I get the good opportunity, I do not get the power I have (just as a reference, I am a sporty and fit person). I know all the phases of a shot, the preparation, the elbow, and the follow through. Sometimes I am able to hit a very powerful smash and sometimes and completely lose the power. Please do suggest/advice any tips.
This is such an annoying Serve to receive. I usually go down below net level to really get it. Correct me if it's wrong though but thank you for the Video. It really helps. More Videos!!!
@@BadmintonInsight the thing though is that I'm not that tall. I'm 5'5. Either my opponent is great at the serve or his faulting hehe because when he serves, it's really straight
Thx for a great tutorial. This works well for drive serve to the forehand side but its more difficult if the drive serve goes to the backhand side, especially to the center line, eg for a left-hand player receiving on the left side. Looks like around-the-head return is an option but extremely difficult to execute. Perhaps you can start a new video on this. Thx.
Great video, I have a friend who has a fantastic variation of serve. Although I get most of his drive serves back sometimes the drive seems to come so flat that I cannot play it and question whether that is legal. Even with the new service rules, can I ask you if its possible to hit a legal serve that just got flat over the net with zero or very minimal upward trajectory? thanks.
It's mainly down to instinct! Quickly recognising how hard they have hit the shuttle and the rough flight path. Good judgement is a great thing to have
I always struggle with this serve...so what I usually do for a person who uses this often, is to stand very close to the mid line leaving a big gap on one side of the court, which creates a bias in his mind and he always serves in that gap...for which I am always ready to pick.. But thanks for this...I will definitely practice on your tips...
Most often drive service is punished and that's the reason people use is rarely. I was beaten twice recently on drive serve and unfortunately once it was a game point. Repositioning your stance is truly important, slightly going back, and not extending your racket too far forward. If there is no panic , you will just smash a drive serve back on the middle of opponent court.
Hello Janet and Greg. Is it fine to serve from the outside lines of the court (specially in doubles) and not from the center line? I see it in lot of local games people do and it is difficult to pick the diagonal serve
