We hope you found this video useful & now have lots of actionable tips you can use straight away ✋If you’ve watched any of our shot tutorials you’ll know we mention this topic in almost every single one - it’s so important!
✋ I'm too tensed on court yet to be able to do that but I'll definitely watch it again and again until I get better at it ! As always thank you so much for the tips and your continuous efforts to make those videos as wonderful as possible 💪
Funny coincidence for me with the timing of this video. For the past 2-3 weeks, I've been slowly realizing that I use my wrist way too much. Hurt my wrist prior, and I realized that my backhand kills have been better because I have not been flexing/bending my wrist as much lately. Nice to see that it's not just a theory, but relevant to good technique. I live in an area where the badminton community is pretty small, so you will hear all the amateur players (some of whom are quite skilled regardless) tell you contradictory things. One of the best players here, who is capable of any type of return from anywhere on the court, told me that it was all about the wrist! These are the types of videos that really make this channel stand out
U guys are so proficient at exhibiting these skill levels, I am sure it will help elevate club members game. Keep posting these clips, you are fantastic, take a bow 🙇♀️🙇
Another great video guys. I'm a very wristy player, going for angles which aren't very consistent and I lose a lot of points. Now I know the fingers and thumb are the key, I will see how that improves my games tomorrow. Cheers guys 👍🙏🏼
wow wow wow, this video just takes this finger and thump skill to a whole new level, no other badminton bloggers have even come close to explaining these important techniques, well done and thank you!!!
🖐 Yet another great video from you both! Thank you for helping me improve my game. Your channel has been the best one out there to help through my badminton journey! without your help and tips I would have injured myself a long time ago and most likely stopped playing all together!
✋Most probably the best channel on RUclips, always ready to improve upon others and giving professional tips that comes from years of experience and training. You have helped with my badminton journey so much, yet no one else is giving. Always love both of you and your content. Bye!!
Thank you so much for this video tutorial. I have just started playing badminton, in a social setting. I'm a tennis player, so a bit of adjustment needed. Haha. The first time I did ok. And the 2nd time I started to make many errors. And it slowly became a situation where "everyone is an expert". I was that overwhelmed with information that I lost my self-confidence and had a terrible day. I was lucky that one of the experienced women, who had played competition taught me some basics which helped. However, watching this tutorial has not only been beneficial, but the explanations are clear and easy to understand, so thanks again, truly.
Another great video! Brings back memories. I remember my first lesson was hitting the shuttle to myself. After 10 minutes then learning how to hit a forehand clear.
Great tips! I play both darts and badminton, it's true that we use fingers to propel the darts more than the wrist. Scottish darts player Gary Anderson mentioned that he uses his middle finger to push off from the point, which is why he's using grooved points.
One of my friends literally asked me about this yesterday as they would hit their backhand using their wrist only. Its really cool to see that you guys made a video on it. I can’t wait to them this video ✋🏽😊.
sounds good to hear good hand control put in a vid. every point mentioned in this is valid. IMO. from someone who has been through the training and still connected to the badminton world. hard to get it out of your mind. best sport.
I can see the difference of relaxed body state and when i am not relaxed every time I play. My power and accuracy drops a lot when I am not relaxed and can control my shots with my fingers. On a stressful day at the office it's much harder for me to relax and focus. This Video shows such an important point which is very ofter underestimated! Keep up your good work ♥✋
Hi, your badminton tutorial videos are truly very informative and gave me more techniques while playing badminton on court. Thank you so much for your wonderful efforts and creating amazing videos. Love you both ❤️❤️
Thank you for this video) You give us so many interesting tecniks :) Now i can share this video with my friends and they'll finaly stop destroying their wrists, and they will start to you finger power))). Also it's hard to understand and feel everything about "loose fingers", but with you it's much easier )
Amazing video! I’ll definitely use that backhand index finger + thumb exercise for my students. I personally also want to improve the overhead version of this where you can surprise others with a clear!
Thank you for your advice . I really didn't understand how to use my wrist before and thought that was all there is to my playstyle , then i saw this video and it really helped me. thank you badminton insight
The most simplex this in simple ways in badminton insight....this channel helped me from bigger to intermediate in just 5 months of practice......Thankyou guys love from India 🇮🇳 ❤️ ♥️ ✋️✋️
Hello you two! I love your content and I thank you for spreading love for the sport of badminton. I never knew you produce this content and thus far - I have not yet come across anyone that radiates and permeates through their whole being true knowledge and understanding of the beautiful game (that is not football) badminton that is! I love you both for helping me improve the game I love so much. It is a serendipity moment as I have found you and I can now say I have come across someone that truly connects with me and confidently I can say you two KNOW YOUR STUFF. I will most definitely look more in depth what else you offer and will enroll to support your channel in anyway I can. My name is David though I use the alias of Shane :)
Thanks! Ive been self taught so far and had no idea about this. Everyone always told me its in the wrist, not a single person mentioning fingers and the squeeze.
I saw this just for that title "Its not what you think". I was always told to use wrist a lot and that's what professional do, such a misconception and clearly explained in this video.. thank you..🤚
Very nice video! I'm a coach from Germany and I always tell my players to keep the wrist in a relaxed/neutral position for all basic shots. The wrist by design really isn't made to accelerate/generate power. In Badminton you only really use the wrist for deceptions/sliced shots.
Stand up if you love the darts!!!!! Great analogy with your tutorial. 😊. There are times I get some wrist ache and I’m convinced it’s when I take a backhand from the back court and overdo it. Will try your tips out next time I play. Thanks as always for your videos. It’s clear you are both passionate about your area.
I have a mix of sometimes using my wrist, but more often than not just gripping too tightly in general. Now I know why I fail at switching grips. Thanks for the vid!
✋ Thank you very much for this great explanation!!! I watched a lot of videos searching for the right wrist movement in smash which I struggled with a lot. And I think I finally got it! Probably I got too literally the phrase that we should use wrist) So I did the same too long wrist movement in smashes as you showed here in all other shots. And even watching smashes in slow-mo I couldn't realize how their hand ended up in quite straight position after the hit. Instead my arm was almost "folded" with my thumb very close to the wrist. Just as you showed in "don'ts". I tried different ways to fix this but ended up in just completely losing control. But now in your video I saw what I didn't notice before. And yes, this is probably also what makes my backhand shots weaker. And all other shots. So again thank you very much, I can't wait for the next training to practice all this) P.S. I just wonder, how can we train to stop a too much wrist movement during the final stages in a smash, and not stopping the whole hand movement at the same time? Because when I try to stop my wrist it seems I also begin to stop my hand a little so losing a little bit of power. How can we train this to be able to "separately" control wrist and the whole hand?) P.P.S. Funny joke in the end of the video, about using our fingers to subscribe))
I have been playing badminton for more than a decade and recently had to take a 3-year break, came back to training 6 months ago and have been wondering why my wrist & racket hand index always hurt. Thank you so much for explaining this into detail, I can finally fix it now!! Cheers
Amazing win against Goh/Lai today guys! It hurt to see them lose as I'm from Malaysia but I wish you guys good luck and I hope you can reach the final! Keep going! 🤞💪
Great video and well articulated and perfectly timed!.. my coach picked up on my poor wrist discipline last night! - I built up bad habits when I originally started playing and now need to try and unlearn these and be more conscious of my grip! - we were doing the attack and defend exercise last night and it does help.. just need to work on the muscle memory now! :) 👍🏻👋
🤚🤚🤚🤚🤚🤚🤚🤚🤚🤚🤚 I have watched a llooooootttt of your tutorial videos or just vlog videos.. they are super fun to watch.. and contain a lot of very useful information
✋ Amazing video, really helpful! love how you alaways know the common mistakes, the example at 2:50 it's exactly what I was doing. Now I know how to get better thanks!
nice video. short note: it's good that you show what you can do wrong when hitting the shuffle. People understand what's wrong with the motions and techniques, but they can't learn to avoid wrong techniques. People need to learn from the right way. So my suggestion is to show a good example after every bad example to get from what is wrong to how one can make it right :D
✋ beginner here, i rely to much on my wrist just lately when i was playing i realized i squeeze my fingers and the shuttle went good then i remembered this video (i watched this video but i forgot the important detail) which is the importance of fingers and thumb. Thank you for the video

thanks it was really hard to create power in some of my shots such as lifts or drives but after your video it’s become much easier!
That’s great to hear 😀

You’re welcome Daniel! It’s holding many people’s game back, you’re not the only one! 🏸
🤚Excellent Work!
I've never imagined comparing fingers and wrists to writing. That's one bloody good example.
Bravo you two 👏👏
Throwing a ball overarm is a good way to teach overhead shot action. I think, maybe Greg and Jaenny can confrim.
Haha thanks a lot Sean 😊
The videos are getting better and better blending technical with humour. Great channel!
Hi, your badminton tutorial videos are truly very informative and gave me more techniques while playing badminton on court. Thank you so much for your wonderful efforts and creating amazing videos. Love you both ❤️❤️

Adding the shot from Denmark Open 2022 to this video proves it's recency! Well done 😉
Thanks 😀 We do most of our videos either 1 or 2 weeks before!

I've improved so so much, because of your guides. Keep going 💪🏼😍✋🏼
Great! We will try 😀🏸
One of thw most useful tip for beginner
It sure is - and also for intermediate players, and some parts are even very useful for advanced players!
I have a mix of sometimes using my wrist, but more often than not just gripping too tightly in general. Now I know why I fail at switching grips. Thanks for the vid!
awesome insight! definitely adding this to my play style 🤚🤚🤚
Thanks Ryan! Hope it goes well 😀

In 2023 I improved my game a lot and your videos helped so much, thanks! I suggest more videos about tatics in the future
✋ learn lot of about badminton and it's various shots and tactics. I'm following you.... Thank You!
✋ helpful video! Great teachers by explaining every key point
Thank you! 😃
Really helps form and wrist strength, great strategy guys!
Thanks! I'm still struggling with my backhand so hopefully this helps.
Probably the single most important advice on Badminton. Transformative.
Awesome video. I do the wristy thing on the backhand shoulder-height drive all the time. Old habits die hard, ... until BI uploads a vid ;).
Haha hope the video helps you to change them 😀🏸
Thank you🖐️These tips are very helpful!
You’re welcome Markus, glad you’re finding them useful 😀

✋ have become a fan of you both great work and love watching your videos and learn from them all thanks 🙏
🙌 thanks for your great video! 😊
Very useful training video for me! Wish I have learned this earlier!
Better late than never 😀
Thank you guys
Great video and well articulated and perfectly timed!.. my coach picked up on my poor wrist discipline last night! - I built up bad habits when I originally started playing and now need to try and unlearn these and be more conscious of my grip! - we were doing the attack and defend exercise last night and it does help.. just need to work on the muscle memory now! :) 👍🏻👋
Thank you so much Paul! Great to hear your coach picked it up - hopefully you can work on the good habits now 😃🏸
Thanks for the great tips! Just in time for me to practice them in my games tomorrow. ✋
You’re welcome Ronaldo! Good luck 😀🏸
🖐️Thanks for the continued insight guys. Need to put some of these things into practice.

You're just insane I'm just amazed by how you choose the perfect content💙💙✌️✌️☺️☺️ btw thanks a lot🖐️
This is awesome & highlighted improvements I can make. Like & Saved to watch again - thank you guys.
Amazing to hear ☺️
nice video. short note: it's good that you show what you can do wrong when hitting the shuffle. People understand what's wrong with the motions and techniques, but they can't learn to avoid wrong techniques. People need to learn from the right way. So my suggestion is to show a good example after every bad example to get from what is wrong to how one can make it right :D
