Chad Warner 3rd best GF since 2010? Petracca must be a plumber. 39 disposals, 2 goals, 9 clearances, 896 metres gained, 2 goal assists. Not even a Melbourne fan but he turned that '21 GF on it's head and kept going 'til the last minute. That is number one by far.
@@roti1700 Yes, but not as good as Trac. Also if Rioli's block on Maynard was called as it should have been, then Sheed would not have kicked that goal and Collingwood would have won that game. Whereas the Bulldogs were up by 20 points early in the 3rd qtr and their elite midfield got rolled over so much that the game became a blowout in Melbourne's favour. Margin kind of tells the tale as to who was more dominant.
I think Brisbane’s finals form is far superior to what Sydney have shown. If they can beat Geelong at the G they can certainly take down Sydney who struggle there in big games. Brisbane for me
Seems Hoyne has conveniently forgotten the "chaos" stat he rolled out from the last few weeks. Over 80% of finals are chaotic. Swans have won 8 out of 9 chaotic games this year, compared to Lions which are tracking at about 50%. Bring on the chaos!
Don't get the chaos ball factor. To me it means either a) team is poor at hitting targets and/or b) pressure brought to bear is too great for the opposition when ball is contested. Both times when the chaotic aspect of the game took Bris, ie no choice but throwing caution to the wind they came back from 44 point deficit and a 25 point deficit. Don't think the "chaos ball" is a worry for Brisbane.
Looking at “this year” doesn’t mean a whole lot though does it. Brisbane were obviously shit at the start of the year but by far the best team since the bye.
Grand Finals is one on one, no zoning, and prepared to get hurt from hard tackles, no one cares to get reported in a Grand Final, stats are throwing out the window. Its war
I think Hawthorn are building more of a team without superstars. No team has won the Premiership when they have lost more than 3 of their last eight games of the H&A season.... Brisbane 6/2 Sydney 4/4
All these so called experts are dodging the elephant in the room,6 weeks ago Sydney lost by 112 points, say it slow,112 points ,surely that would ring alarm bells

Data doesn't show grit, determination and mindset - the amount of times Patrick Cripps decided to put Carlton on his back and win them the game was immense and exactly why he won it. Most influential player for the season, not the one who had the most kicks or handballs (he came second).
@@_..Justin-Case.._ 100% - the numbers seem a bit inflated to me too, I just found it ironic that Champion Data's Top 3 Brownlow Predictions were so far off the mark.

Champion data's Brownlow goes off player rating which is largely influenced by impact, efficiency and scoring (direct scores, assists, score involvements). I think Hoyne has a point. I follow the WB, a team of super skilled and super inept players. Essentially, the dogs play with only nine players: the other nine may as well stay home. The team consists of nine warriors and nine on-field spectators.
Grundy hasn't been the same player since he got injured a few years back. This is his best season in 3-4 years but at one point Grundy would average between 20-30 disposals while getting 10 clearances and 10 tackles in games along with 30+ hitouts and a goal or 2 every second week. Was literally calling it triple double games like what they do in basketball. He'll never be able to get to that level again but he is still quality.
Longer the week goes you just think Hipwood in the ruck instead of Daniher maybe the solution as Hipwood can run with him get more physical tire out Grundy and it will help Hipwwod get more of the ball and stretch Grundy on his leads on wide spaces of the MCG
Why r umps voting for who's BOG when that's not the focus during the game? It's like u walk past a guy on the road and I ask what colour shirt did he wear? And you'd have no idea cos that's not ur focus.
This guy literally contradicts himself straight out. First says the game is won by the superstar midfielders, but then says who wins the turnover game will win. You're bottom 6 generate the most turnovers, as they are your weakest players. So which is more important the best players, or your bottom 6 not making mistakes.
Can we get rid of umpires doing the votes? Or add a neutral AFL representative to help them vote (e.g. a stats analyst or former player or someone that had a broader persepctive than adjudicating infractions)?
I agree. Umpires literally cost teams games and even grand finals (Brisbane last year). AFL needs to introduce a panel of some of the best, most intelligent former players for Brownlow voting. If they're too scared, then have this as a percentage where the panel gets 50% of the vote, coaches get 30%, umps get 10%, and fans get 10%
The current mob of umpires are incapable of providing Brownlow votes accurately because they are having so much difficulty umpiring the game. They have proven themselves incapable of judging distance with any consistency whilst confusing players with inconsistent interpretations costing goals. The AFL should seriously review the 4 umpire performance versus the 2 umpire experience because in my opinion, the inconsistency since the 4 umpires were introduced is killing the game and confounding the fans.
@absxx618 The problem with former players having input is that they'd have to watch every single game of each round. At the moment, we have former players select the All Australian team. And not one of those selectors watches every single game. Which is why there's always 2 or 3 glaring commissions every year
It’s funny because brisbane won exactly opposite to this, it’s because they have a whole team and had star performers front back and mid that they trounced Sydney. Which was obvious to see how it was going to play out 5 weeks ago. Not sure about expertise when they miss this.
If only there was some scientific way to determine which players to choose though, or a way to determine what's the best way to play? Could we perhaps look at previous games and draw some conclusions from the data? Just spit balling here.
Oh yes Hoyney, do tell me how it's the midfielders who dictate grand finals after a small forwsrd won the Norm Smith last year and a winger the year before.
The last ten premiers all had haircuts the Thursday before the game and drive white cars. Which means the Swans will win…. Unless the hosts disagree, in which case they are right and “I completely agree” with them
