Where were you 30 + years ago. I wish I had raised my children this way. Love your inspiration you give us all. Spiritual and a more sustainable lifestyle with good health and an abundance of love.
Absolutely loved the rescue of the bluebird. Lacey's vision of a sit down place sounds wonderful. Hopefully with your busy schedules you all are able to make that happen. Don't apologize for having to determine what lives or dies (rats), they carry disease. May God continue to guide and keep you and yours.
Can I just say that your comfrey bed is GORGEOUS? And I am jealous. In the best way. Your farm is more and more reflecting your heartbeat and becoming a place of peace. Well done......
I would literally beg you to do a Kids Show! Soo many Kids are home school now and we so need this I belong to a large group of moms in Florida I would totally share this!!
I have been teaching kids for years in many self-sufficiency (homestead) skills and domestic arts (spinning, weaving, knitting, sewing, etc), and I just recently acquired a small parcel on which to develop a "children's ecovillage" for longer workshops. The current and future generations need to learn these skills...so I'm the Grandma doing it! 💖
Hey y’all I seen the video from a farmer on how to get rid of rats and mice using baking soda and the little jiffy corn muffin mix, he said mix it 50/50, it doesn’t harm other animals just rats and mice because they don’t have the ability to belch and it supposedly kills quickly, check it out maybe an idea
Mike we are getting 3 days of heavy rain n it’s coming ur way, I would put those baby chicks back in the Bruner to keep them safe, just FYI, ⭐️💖⭐️💖⭐️💖⭐️💖⭐️
As a lifelong early childhood educator I truly believe that you will be filling a much needed void with educating our youth with much needed information and I pray that you have an "abundance" of success.😊💐
You are a natural Fit Farmer! :) When you speak to everyone, it's like you're talking to me directly!!! :) I love that!!! God Bless and watch over you and your precious family!!!
I think that everyone should have at least a few weeks worth of staples on hand in case of bad weather and in case there is a short term financial disaster. Look for cost leaders at grocery stores where they try to lure you in and overspend elsewhere. Stick to your shopping list and put some food like pasta, dried beans, rice, peanut butter, macaroni & cheese and pasta sauce aside over time to fill up your pantry. One year we had three weeks of back to back blizzards with very short periods inbetween where people could go out to stores and shop. My pantry kept me fed and off the roads. Now that I have a modest house and a decent sized lot I am slowly starting to add to my garden for myself and to build up habitat. I will be planting a container garden. I have started planting small nut and fruit trees/shrubs that will start bearing in 3 - 5 years. People can grow sprouts to cheaply add quality vegetables to their diet. Making food at home saves a lot of money over going out to eat all the time especially during times of high inflation. The point is that just about everyone can do something to help prevent food insecurity during hard times. "In 1942, roughly 15 million families planted Victory gardens; by 1944, an estimated 20 million victory gardens produced roughly 8 million tons of food-which was the equivalent of more than 40 percent of all the fresh fruits and vegetables consumed in the United States." It was a big part of the war effort when the USA was supporting not only our military but sending food to the United Kingdom and Russia. Beans on toast with the beans coming from the USA kept a lot of the British alive when they were fighting the Nazis. The British also had their version of Victory gardens during WW 2.
We had to put a screen top on ours to keep the birds out. Sorry if I offend anyone, but we used to set up a bait area and shoot the rays. It gave us the practice we needed before going hunting.
Put a screen to filter your chimney to not only keep hot ash from burning your roof but to keep birds out. It would be easy to apply the little screen at the top of the chimney
Awesome video and update on the various projects! Regarding those rat traps...I've been using them on my property for a while and they work great! I've found the best bait is Slim Jim! They're the perfect size to fit into the bait hole and the rats here in Georgia can't seem to get enough of it! Just slice of a chunk, pack it in and if there's a rat near by, he'll soon be going to meet his maker. Peace and blessings...
I have been eating clean since 2018 this has improved my health more than anyone would believe. We all need a book on editable plants and medical plants also.
Mike, have you tried using mint or clove essential oil on cotton balls or better yet, grow mint in pots and place around doors and openings. I did this when we had mice and it worked. I did it in the house and garage because my husband has some nice hard wood stored there and the mice were destroying/defecating on it. Lacy releasing the blue bird bought tears to my eyes. So many song birds are being killed in the cities by running into high rise buildings. So glad you care about the wild creatures too. Your garden/orchard looks lovely with the fresh wood chips. What a blessing...I'm still waiting on a chip drop for my yard/garden. Your daughter looks so much like Lacy but she has your eyes. Lovely, responsible, young lady! The boys are getting so big and helpful. May God continue to bless you through this season of rest for your homestead.
A quick way for me to get rid of fire ants is to pour boiling water on the ground. It not only gets the ones on the top but soaks down a ways to get a bunch more. Works great.
I love how you and your family works together. I always feel better when I see your videos. I pray for health, wealth, and peace for you and your family. God bless you.
Just discovered your channel. I just retired and my husband and I are doing our best to learn all we can about homesteading, currently urban homesteading but if God gives us enough time and energy we dream of moving our homestead out if the city one day. It's so encouraging finding Christan homesteaders on RUclips to learn and gain encouragement and a sense of community with. Thank you, I look forward to following your family.
Ar Dear Mike and family, I,m an 73 year old up here in the Pacific northwest,Auburn, Washington. I have horses, chickens, two dogs and two cats and sometimes a few rats here and there. i have tried a few different ways of getting rid of them but the best way is and won't harm nobody but the mice and rats is two cups Jiffy cornbread mix and two cups baking soda. Mix together add no water and put this where you think there hanging around and they will eat this and die. I seen this watching Pine Meadows Hobbpy Farm. Hope this works for you. Love all of you and watch ya all the time
Would it help to put some kind of light metal mesh over your chimney? Live your home, your homestead, & most of all love seeing your whole Family working to improve the homestead. It's as inspiring as your Faith. May God bless & reward you all. Keep it coming!
Hello yall, i was watching this homesteader and he had a problem with the rats. I dont remember his name. But, he used Jiffy mix that had honey in it with soda together and he says it did real good. I m sorry i didnt get his name. I really enjoy your videos thank for sharing.
Those beds look so nice with the mulch! And I love that you’re fermenting the food! I think the outdoor seating is an awesome idea too. That little bird was so cute!
I enjoy your video’s around life on a family farm as I grew up in that kind of environment also. One thing I wondered concerning your berry bushes. I grow my raspberry bushes in a patch that gets thicker every year from the new little shoots that pop up off the roots. How can any new plants grow up from under those mounds of wood chips? It does look nice but just wondering.🤔
Oh clay has so many benefits! Congratulations on your podcast! Y’all are doing so many wonderful things! I can’t wait to see what the Father has in store for you!
We are 2 and a half hours away but would love to meet up with you guys. Either day works and I think it's a great idea to try and get a kid's side to homesteading and all. Very excited for you guys and if you ever need some help just reach out. We would love to lend a hand.
That sounds like such a wonderful, generous offer/suggestion. Mike, Lacy and the kids have done the same for so many other people. They have even driven long distances to help people. Even people they are visiting, Mike jumps right in to lend a hand. I love people like this. Your family sounds like this kind of people. God bless you and yours!
FYI Mike Tom cat has the same type of traps where the bait go's in a spot in the bottom a removable I use them in my feed room, I have the large and small ones for rats and mice. The bait I use old peanut butter.
I love my Turkeys here in upper Michigan! they bring in wild Turkeys as well. :) Give them some watermelon, watch and listen to them slurp up that juice! it is entertaining, and hilarious! :) You guys are doing so good, with our farm.
gotta love the flame thrower, we used it on all the dandelion heads all around the garden,,,,only around the garden area, we love our dandies and eat them daily, and i mean millions, lol
Looking amazing 🤩I almost forgot to mention I had seen someone here post a video about rats and he used jiffy honey cornbread mix with baking powder, said works like a charm!
I'm happy for u!! Yr a people person so it's gonna boom. Name it Pods at Mikes. Or Chit Chattin Mondays with Mike. U can change the day of course just puttin it out there. Good things to come. U and Family have a Great week and see ya soon.🐣
Great job on this one. I felt part of your learning process and enjoyed seeing the full family. You did a much classier job of advertising Abundance Plus than Justin Rodes did. He was just plain crass in what he did and made no attempt to share any information at all. Great job in this promotion.
I have 3 humming birds by hand carefully in my log home. Returned outside. Had to shew birds out that snuck in. And one release from inside my wood stove.
Mike when you feed the chickens, put the feeders into your wagon before you fill them. You get so much feed on the ground doing it as you do it now, which will draw rats to your homestead like flies.
Snakes have to have dinner also Bonnie! If they have rats and mice to eat then they will typically leave your eggs and birds alone. Everything has its purpose!
@@1982MCI ...Well he said he was upset about the rats. Whether or not snakes need to eat and what they eat, doesn't enter in to my comment. I only advised on how to not feed the rats!
Mike had rats move in on my homestead several years ago they were reeking havoc got out of hand in a hurry I tried all the usual things then I was told to get a 5 gallon bucket of water find the holes and pour it in several of them you will get rid of the rat problem it worked for me did it a couple of times and the rats just disappeared I wish you luck with your rat problem
I have been reading about people using dry ice to kill rats. Something about dry ice displacing oxygen in the rat tunnel. Have you ever tried that? I would love to know your favored method to get rid of rats
Where were you 30 + years ago. I wish I had raised my children this way. Love your inspiration you give us all. Spiritual and a more sustainable lifestyle with good health and an abundance of love.
Every lady needs her quiet spot. I'm so excited to see what you do. Take care!!
Eastern bluebird. What a blessing. California HaS been working to revive our population of blue birds! Good luck and many blessings.
Absolutely loved the rescue of the bluebird. Lacey's vision of a sit down place sounds wonderful. Hopefully with your busy schedules you all are able to make that happen. a fire pit would be wonderful!
So you are making a rainbow garden. LOVE you family and you.
Can I just say that your comfrey bed is GORGEOUS?
And I am jealous. In the best way.
Your farm is more and more reflecting your heartbeat and becoming a place of peace.
Well done......
The farm has really changed since I started watching your channel. I know it's been a lot of hard work. Stay Blessed y'all☺
We don’t have rats here… but we get mice. Mom bought those type of traps for dad’s garage. He runs them year round. They work really well.
May the Lord bless you and your family
It looked like your wife was helping the fireplace give birth to the bird. I loved it, and I love your homestead
ant killing tip that always works for me. Boil a big pot of water and pour it at the top of the ant hole slowly but not too slow.
That’s what I do. Get a stick, stir them up, then pour it. Gone!!
So cute that bird another female bird whisperer. Lacey is a woman of many talents. 😊
The blue bird rescue was so sweet. Such a pretty bird and he was thirsty. Your relaxing area sounds fantastic. Get er done. 💞

So glad you are having these positive things happening! Y’all rock!
I love Lacy’s ways. So funny how she shakes her head at Mike. Reminds me of me hahahahaha
Looking great. Keep up the great work. Stay safe.
Bad news first. Always bad news first. End on a good note. That's my philosophy.

Sunday would be good for me. I live in Davidson so it's not too far from me
So when Grandma said to Rub a little dirt on it and you'll be OK, she really meant Clay! Lol
I wasn't sure where y'all were from me here in Northeast Alabama but y'all really ain't that far away from me. I really enjoy the channel.

Lacey your an amazing woman how you helped the Bluebird🐦
I use bentonite clay in my toothpaste powder and I also know how powerful it is to transform wet clay into a pottery piece. God bless!
The Homestead is looking amazing!
great information...I'll be signing up..a kid show.. I'd get our grandkids involved with that ☺️

👍 for Lacey's Bird Rescue & Family Chill Zone.
Hello yall, i was watching this homesteader and he had a problem with the rats. I dont remember his name. But, he used Jiffy mix that had honey in it with soda together and he says it did real good. I m sorry i didnt get his name. I really enjoy your videos thank for sharing.
Pine Meadows Hobby Farm is the name for the video.
The big problem with that method is the corpses. When you trap and kill, you know where they are and disposal is easy.
I love your little sitting place idea! Go for it!
Enjoy your videos and enjoy watching them every time they come on.
Don't forget all the brick and block sitting close to you for the construction of the outdoor space
Those beds look so nice with the mulch! And I love that you’re fermenting the food! I think the outdoor seating is an awesome idea too. That little bird was so cute!

They will find their way through.
I'm glad you guys found some traps that are working for you.
I've rescued a few birds never a little blue one so pretty😊🤗❤👍
That’s a great idea about the logs. We’ve done that
Oh clay has so many benefits! Congratulations on your podcast! Y’all are doing so many wonderful things! I can’t wait to see what the Father has in store for you!
Amen!!!
You can weld up a nice outdoor stove from an old water heater for the herb area. Free for the most part. I am on version 4.0
Terriors are good ratters. Hard to predict if they will leave the birds alone though.
The little bird looked like an Eastern Bluebird. Wonderful that you saved it! GOD bless

THIS WAS A REALLY GOOD VIDEO!
Lacey, you sure are a classy-looking gardener! I have ratty tee shirts and muck boots on when I'm in the garden!
Everything looks so good with the wood chips around them. I wish there was somewhere I could get wood chips in my area!
Blessings y’all 🙏🏻😎
Looking amazing 🤩I almost forgot to mention I had seen someone here post a video about rats and he used jiffy honey cornbread mix with baking powder, said works like a charm!
Watched that SAME ONE 😂
In north texas we call them birds barn swallows. Definitely need a screen on that chimney.
I'm happy for u!! Yr a people person so it's gonna boom.
Name it Pods at Mikes.
Or Chit Chattin Mondays with Mike.

Actually, I joined Abundance Plus because of Mike.
I have 3 humming birds by hand carefully in my log home. Returned outside. Had to shew birds out that snuck in. And one release from inside my wood stove.
That is awesome news you are sooo ready get!!
your place is starting to look so pretty
We use the same traps in our quail barn.
Try covering the opening of your wood stove with some chicken fencing or hardware cloth. That would keep the critters out
That is awesome about the Kids show coming to Abundance +!!!!
Learning so much. Thank you
The mulch really makes it pretty, as well as, good weed control and moisture holder.
Mike when you feed the chickens, put the feeders into your wagon before you fill them. You get so much feed on the ground doing it as you do it now, which will draw rats to your homestead like flies.

Uh oh, guess we’ve got folks that don’t understand farm humor at all anymore. Sorry Bonnie
Great video guys - Loved it. Cheers Denise- Australia

What a wonderful idea for a lounge area idea Lacie!!!! 😃
Ma wants a out side kitchen, now i think everyone should enjoy that.
"Greeting friends" - I do like it!
You are going to do a show for kids that is so exciting.!!!!
Your place is really coming along nicely
So fun to see the torching of the fire ants.😁😁
Mike look up smokeless fire pits. It's all in how you make them.🧡🧡
That’s so great. Thank you.
Mike you need a cover for the chimney a good no poison is equal parts of powdered sugar baking soda and flour they can’t digest it and go for water
I have been reading about people using dry ice to kill rats. Something about dry ice displacing oxygen in the rat tunnel. Have you ever tried that? I would love to know your favored method to get rid of rats
Absolutely teamwork
You started fermenting the bird feed, cool!
Hi guys,it would be nice to see you guys harvest some of the things that's in your pond, that sure would be nice to see.
