How important do you think is the alliance between the United States and Singapore for Southeast Asia? Let us know down below!
If Singapore was not US's ally, China could go from South China Sea into Indiana Ocean easily.
Singapore is not in an Alliance with US
Security partner. Not ally. Your information is wrong.
Singapore is a true super power in Asia
Malaysia is fearful
Indonesia chooses to be friendly

Senator Tom Cotton seemed to have trouble differentiating Singapore from China.
Not true. Senator Tom is not stupid he did that on purpose because Mr Chew is not a true blue Singaporean. His wife and children are American citizen, why? So he must be a half-way Singaporean. One day he may go back to China.
@@Justsaying-cg2nz Not a true blue Singaporean? That's quite ignorant, given that Chew did his national service in Singapore. Clearly, Tom Cotton isn't the only dumb person.
@@ivancen5020 So what ,do you want me to name another Singapore traitor which also did NS.
Cotton is an educated idiot n there’s a lot of them in congress n senate.
@@manerosnf8449 plse name this "traiter" then. Remember to compare apples to apples so as not to look foolish.
Hey. US weapons to Singapore are not free , nor they are discounted.
Singapore paid expensively for this honour.
The only kudos is US allowing and trusting Singapore ownership of top US weapons in this close desirable friendship.
Tom Cotton thinks otherwise.
Funny, because the Chinese think we are too pro US. That’s what you get when u refuse to play into big power politics.
😂
Cotton goofed big time. Going solo to instill negative US vibes in Singapore public at large. Not healthy for future US Singapore developments.
Even the well educated can be idiots. Not a surprise anymore.
@@weikwanglee4383the Republicans are greatly influenced by Donald Trump. They make the most incredible and crazy statements. Even sane Republicans are repulsed by MAGA Trumpists and feel shameful of their party. Qanon and conspiracy theorists fill their ranks. Don’t think Singapore government are influenced by such Shenanigans! Utter idiocy and hypocrisy.
Singapore paid billions of US dollars to purchase the arms, logistics and training. It was not given free as charity aids. Of course, the opportunities for interaction and learning is a big boon to upgrade the Singapore Armed Forces capabilities and professionalism. Singapore has good relationship with China as well in addition to the Asean countries and often have jointed military exercises which is not mentioned in the video.
Some misinformation there. Singapore is not a treaty ally of the US and unlikely to ever be, as we adopt a neutral stance and will never allow ourselves to be dragged into a conflict that isn’t ours.
The close partnership is on the basis of mutual benefit and ultimately only if it is to Singapore’s benefit, that this will continue.
Nice political-speak. Please continue. You are doing great. 😁😁😁
@@samo4003 it’s not political speak. Singapore is well known for being consistently straightforward and boringly so - we mean what we say and we do exactly what we say we will…
It is exactly what it is and we have made that plain and clear all the while.

Also, we regularly send military personnels to different military colleges globally, as part of the efforts to strength bilateral military relationship, and that of understanding their military-related stuffs, and culture.
What many people do not know is that China also have transit rights in Singapore. Although not as significant as basing rights, it is to show the world that singapore does not side any superpower and maintain its neautrality

Singapore is a strong socialist country, but with a free market approach, a lot like how China was in the 1980s. Supervisingly there are many of the older generation who are against thr USA.

US and Singapore does not have a military alliance. There is NO defence treaty, If Singapore is attacked, the US is under NO OBLIGATIONS (under the non-existent defence treaty) to come to Singapore's aid militarily or otherwise. What we have with the US is a defence cooperation agreement allowing the US to dock and resupply. We also have agreement for our military (especially our air force) to train in the US air bases and training grounds.
Singapore and US are one Nation
Singapore is not a US ally
Look at the passport indicators, they are there, because of non interference in others political business and without prejudice to theirs economics and financial standing. Always humble in their dealings and firm in violations domestic security 😄
In my fictional world, Malaysia is more special than Singapore because they have Boboiboy and Ejen Ali
0:11 Well I wouldn’t exactly say ‘no more than 5 million people’ if we have like 5.8 million people haha
The diplomacy is well balanced, walking on the tightrope between the two giants. 😄
Hi
We have our own agency and as such the basic premise is whether its "in our national interests". Balancing act is not easy but inevitable in this context
From a realist perspective,
it boils down to a convergence of national interests between the USA and Singapore.
For much of the post-WWII era,
the USA, as a regional security guarantor
has provided an international order
in which parts of East Asia,
including Singapore,
could grow and develop using export-oriented industrialization.
Over the postwar decades,
ties have been based on a deep reservoir of mutual strategic trust and goodwill
built up between leaders of the USA and Singapore.
The inter-operability of Singapore's defense systems with that of the USA
attest to that level of trust and confidence.
It is thus no miracle that US-Singapore defence ties reached this level today,
but rather in no small part to human effort.
Singapore is not an 'ally' of the US m a partner, yes... Ally, no.
stop it. Singapore is proud ally for US and "freedom"
In my fictional world, Malaysia are good allies with Singapore and United States
But Singapore was never a official ally
Singapore is not an allied of the USA. Please get the fact right.
In my fictional world, Malaysia is better than Singapore because they have Boboiboy and Ejen Ali
SG is US's ally??? Don't be so thick skin...😂 SG is neutral

Not.. Sg is NOT an ally of neither the US nor China. It's a reliable and serious country with a small but potent and high tech military. It does serious business with anyone including US and China
@@Jkl62200 okay thanks for the info but does Singapore have any problems with other countries
@@rickyboy6390 no problem. Used to have issues with its two big neighbors, Malaysia and Indonesia but that was in the 50's and 60's. That's when it also started its military with the help of Israel. Today, Singapore has a close relationship with both US and China. But military-wise, it is closer to the US but not an 'ally'. It regularly hosts US carriers and destroyers at the Changi Naval base for repairs and logistical support. And it uses many American stuff like f15, f16, f35 etc and have training facilities arrangements for them in the US in Arizona and Idaho. That's how people often think it is an ally of the US.
@@Jkl62200Singapore was and would be an America's puppet state.. The US does have a military base there.
