1987 world cup was a sad feeling for pakistan and India.

On the contrary we must have felt very satisfied. We hosted the entire cricketing world on our soil, we embraced each other and worked together as the brothers that we are. We left our guests with a generation-long impression of our esteem of them. No sadness. Only triumph and happiness.

Why couldn't the MCC have erected barricades to prevent the spectators from invading the pitches? They knew the subcontinental and Caribbean fans would be extremely emotional.
Besides that, what a superb achievement to host these tournaments. The logistics, and meeting each team's idiosyncrasies, individual players' preferences. Hats off to the organisers.

Big part of cricket for many years. Happened all around the world after a game, whether it was a test match or one day international. I must admit it’s one part of cricket tradition that I don’t miss. I wasn’t a fan of the crowd invading the pitch after the game.

Agree with you completely, it was tradition from letting the spectators having a walk around the outfield after play. Unfortunately some took it to extreme and would be on the field behr the final run was completed.
I do now miss the opportunity I had as a boy, to go onto the field at lunch and tea and play a bit of cricket with my Dad.
