I love this Vitamin C. I have used it for close to a month. I already have 2 bottles on order. I use 1/2 dropper in the am. I would like to add it has a 2 month p.a.d. 1 year shelf life if unopened. You also have to open it and hear a popping sound then shake product. I did transfer some product into a 15ml bottle and store the remaining in the fridge. I love this and Dr Brenner's Vitamin C. Thank you for your 1st impression
I was worried mine is going to oxidize fast, but so far I've been using it every day for a month and the color didn't change, it is still golden. There was a bit of irritation in the beginning, but it was fine after a while. So far, I love it! Unlike other serums I used, It doesn't pill under moisturizer and spf. It does say it has only 2 months of shelf life, so I'm thinking of repurchasing already!
The only serum that I do on my own is my vit c serum. In Poland we have brand that send to you ingredients-15% l ascorbic acid, ferulic acid, vit e, hyaluronic acid, some glycol … you mix it by yourself , put it it the fridge ,small amount put in the small dark bottle that last for two weeks … it works like a dream… and it’s white/pearl… not even slightly yellow. You have to use it after preparation in 4 months…
Oohh I remember the one they had on Soko Glam, which I loved. So mad they took that away, but I still bounce back & forth between the Timeless one & Bio bare. Hope you’re doing well Sarah!
I also loved the one they had with soko glam, I'm very intrigued to see how fast this current one oxidizes and I'll report back! I have a goodie box ready for you, I'll have to bug cameraman to get it in the mail!
Have you considered adding a dropper full or two of The Ordinary's Resveratrol and Ferulic Acid serum to the vitC bottle? I find it really extends the shelf life of the vitC since it's adding more antioxidant protection and Resveratrol recycles oxidized vitC too. Since TO's serum is anhydrous, it shouldn't affect the pH, and since the ingredients are stupid simple, there's no chemical reactions to worry about. And a side bonus is getting the TO's ingredients in your skin too!
Girl! I ran right to your channel since Ulta has on sale today. I am having issues replacing the Skinceuticals but the price is crazy. You know what … the PTR C you recommend is half off. I’ll bite on that one. Made up my mind while “talking” to you. Will finish up the Vitabrid and then Sweet July.. I’ll report back. Thanks for the help Sarah. 💕
Always love to see your face pop up! I love Ulta's 21 Days Sale - it works well for them too because now I'm checking their site everyday, too! The PTR is nice, my only real issue with it is the price but at half off it is well worth a try! Keep me posted on how you like it!
A fact about these Vitamin c serums: Alot of them contain other ingredients that are brown and yellow in color, for instance: Vitamin E is a very deep brown color so a serum cant be clear if it contains it. Some people may think Vitamin C serums must be clear but not when they contain a whole bunch of other ingredients that aren’t
I personally believe that is why Drunk Elephant included pumpkin in theirs- so it the color would be orange and people couldn't tell when it was oxidized or not. Just my theory.
@@NOBSBeauty i believe Drunk Beauty was a scam too!! I was so young and stupid for trusting them but i was new in skincare at the time. I would spend my last dollar to buy that serum. I learned that the color of natural Pumpkin Extract isnt even Neon Orange . Drunk Elephant was just selling us old Vitamin C bottles!
I think you might be right, I used to keep some of the old bottles for reference but I already threw the older one away when their other release came out...
all vitamin c serums should come with ferulic acid and vitamin e and have a ph less than 3 - 3.5 at most. Why do skincare companies continue to release vitamin c without ferulic and vitamin e. Everything else is just filler without these two ingredients
Have you heard of the new Trader Joe’s dupe for the Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen!? Not identical ingredient lists but same filters same percentages and it’s only $8.99 for the same 1.7 ounces! I’ve heard it’s AMAZING and the best dupe out there. I’m gonna go get it today if it’s at my Trader Joe’s location 👏🏻
Excellent review! I kinda stopped using Vitamin C and am using The Mary and May Idebenone as an antioxidant because of pairing issues with Vitamin C. I love my Buffet + Cu and refuse to go without it🤗💗Happy July🤗😘
Great review as always!I've been wanting to try skincare products with licorice root extract in it, would love to hear your product recommendations..🥰🥰🙏🙏
Facetheory has a vitamin c eye cream that has c e & Ferulic acid in it as well as licorice root extract. It’s called Ocuwake and it comes in a 1 Oz tube which is cool because I use it allover my face and it’s like 16$ on Amazon very very good stuff!
I can never finish these vita C that comes in these dropper bottles before it oxidize. So one way I make my vita C serum last longer is by putting small quantity of the serum from the 1 oz dropper bottle, other than storing in frig, is by filling the serum into a smaller dropper bottle (like sample size). The small bottle may last me a week or 2 (depending on usage), then I refill. That will reduce the frequency of opening the larger bottle so it doesn’t have to be expose to air/light everyday. Honestly, these vita C manufacturer need to come up with more creative to find better designed bottles that is airtight. Maybe its all marketing strategy to make us go back to buy more, and more often : (.
Have been using Geek& Gorgeous one for over a year now. Never ever a single bottle oxidized. Dropper bottle. Keeping it in the fridge. in the packaging. It's amazing.
@@jasminateodorovic1248 Yes, I stand corrected. G&G vitamin C is one of the few vitaC that always comes fresh and stays fresh til the end, because company makes them fresh when you order and it comes in a smaller bottle (30ml instead of 50 ml). That one is a great one!!
Hi Sarah I watched mostly out of curiosity, but this isn't for me - 23% ouch on my hypersensitive skin lol. For those who tolerate higher percentages of vitamin c, then this might be a good option I guess. It just looks like more of the "higher percentages are better" mentality we're still seeing all over the skincare market. More people will tolerate something like a 10%, but I guess it's all about the marketing trying to stand out from other similar serums. Best wishes.
I just want a gentle, normal percentage, affordable, effective, top rated, non-greasy, non-irritating, acne skin friendly, doesn’t go bad very fast, clear colour, widely available, fragrance free, vitamin C serum in a pump bottle, with a less quantity version to make repurchasing easier when it goes bad 😒 It’s seems impossible so far. Anything that remotely comes close to this is extremely expensive.
Thanks for the review- was hoping you would PH test. I have used mine about a week so far, seems ok - Dr. Brenner has been my regular - I was concerned this had gone bad, and contacted Cosrx, and got good response from them - sent me pictures of what the color should be and it is supposed to be yellow. This price is good for the amount, but I am afraid it will go bad as well. Look forward to your next review.
Cannot wait to review this in a month, and I'm very intrigued to see how this product will age over the next several weeks. Dr Brenner is great, always lasts until I finish it.
Using it at the moment and like you said the color is a turn off because that’s how I know my Vitamin C serum isn’t oxidized and it has a chemical smell unlike the previous Vitamin C serum I’ve used (Timeless)
There are a few I absolutely love- the first is the Geek & Gorgeous C Glow- it is my go-to and super affordable and always made fresh! I'm also really enjoying the Dime Beauty Hyper Glow Serum, very similar to the Geek & Gorgeous. Another one worth considering is the Timeless C,E Serum. If I were you I'd check out the Geek & Gorgeous - it is much more affordable than the rest and they manufacture it weekly so it always arrives fresh!
I bought it, I suspect that 23% of vitamin C is from the combination of 20% of pure vitamin C and the other 3% is from the vitamin C derivative, but I really don't know, I have quite sensitive skin and I haven't had any problems with that vitamin C. I hope you have a great day, I send you a hug from Chile 😘
Some brands actually use food color to mask the oxidation of the product but I don't think its smart at all..I'd rather all vitamin c serums be clear, like the Dr. Brenner brand I love ur vids! Sooo appreciate the fact that u test the ph levels and the research and efforts u put into these vids!! Great job!!👍😁❤🎉
Isn’t it just that they’re probably sat on a shelf for ages before taking weeks to be shipped round the world that they arrive half oxidised already? The Geek and Gorgeous serum is crystal clear when I open it and the Cosrx and purito ones are bright yellow.
That is what I love about the Geek & Gorgeous Serum- it is always super fresh and lasts a long time before going bad because of how often they manufacture it. I've tried so many vitamin c serums but the one I keep going back to is Geek & Gorgeous (plus you can't beat the price)!
Wonder why they didn't opt to put ferulic acid in it , I think that would make it more popular to the vita c crowd, also their sunscreen what.. they could have done so much with this but to me it feels like they made one to go in Ulta it's like a regular American basic spf not like the good K beauty SPF we know and love , it just seems like a weird choice the ingredients and filters frangerance everything they put in it was basic and made for Ulta in the US not true k beauty and a basic HA serum ??? Hum the choices I think they could have made a good peptide serum or something instead of a basic that is in everything.
I wonder if the extracts in it may have tinged the colour a bit golden ish . Maybe the carrot extract is like Beta carotene which is a bit yellow ish orange ish . Who knows . Great review you superstar 😘😘😘
I just got the Dr. Brenner vitamin c , its much cheaper than the skincuiticals brand , it has the same ingredients 🎉 (My spelling sucks I'm aware of it n can't help it, lol even the auto correct doesn't prevent 100% of the words i can't spell..lol)

The 23% may be trying to replicate TO's 23% Vitamin C formulation as well. TO's is water free, though, so it is a lot more stable in general.
