Update! Professor Orenstein responded to my email about Ravel's M.2! While he sadly doesn't have other scans of the pages, he informed me of an exciting premier of one of Ravel's pieces (which I happen to have also typeset!) and told me (and I'll tell all of y'all) to keep an eye out for! I also have another piece that has yet to be premiered in my possession, and I'll update if anything comes of it (who knows!)
@ For the one that's to be premiered, I don't know if I can say it (because I was told that it's going to be published soon) and the one I have idk I think it's fun to be all mysterious and stuff but both pieces are Ravel's Prix de Rome works.
Just an opinion, but the 8va seems out of place. Moving up an octave infringes on the right hand. (Going down seems unnecessary.). I understand that this wasn’t finished - looks like he just put it aside for other work.

Why so cryptic? What are the pieces in question?

Really interesting stuff, good luck on your quest to find more early Ravel)
Wow, always wanted to hear that one. Thank you a lot!!!!!
Yay!!
You can definitely hear the Chopin-influence as well
Chopin and Ravel?
the "loco(?) at the end lol
I had no idea what it said and I don't speak French 😭
@@RavelManuscriptProject "loco" is a spanish word actually, it means "crazy" (I don't know what Ravel mean by this indication 🤨)
it means to play in the written octave, instead of one octave higher as indicated for the first three beats of the left hand of that measure
@@RavelManuscriptProject It's not french, it's italian (like many musical signs). It means indeed the end of the octava.

Pretty bleak even for juvenile standards. Sounds like anybody could have concocted that single variation.
