I love creepy Doctor Who, so having an episode play out like John Carpenter's "The Thing" is just perfection. I was born in 1982, so that awesome slow-burning horror about imitation was literally my childhood.

34:58 Unfortunately, he won't be. Russell T. Davies put up a beautiful post about Cribbins on social media after this special aired. Wilf was supposed to be involved to some degree on the last special, but Cribbins's health prevented him from filming anything more than this piece we just saw. This bit was filmed in May of 2022 and he passed away in July of 2022.
Would have been nice to have a more proper send off, though they will mention him in the final special I'm sure. And Wilf, for the time being, will remain alive and well in the "Whoniverse".

A body double will be used in the opening scenes of "The Giggle" (with Donna pushing his wheelchair) as the camera focuses more on 14 frantically surveying the utter carnage in front of him before the opening credits I would think. A happy joyous accident that they filmed everything they needed in Camden.
I can't remember when they filmed in Bristol for "The Giggle" but I guess Bernard was in his last days at that point sadly.
RIP Bernard Cribbins, thank you for returning at 93 for one last bow 🙇‍♂️

There are other universes in _Doctor Who,_ though. Rose Tyler, Jackie, Pete who lived, and TenToo are in one.

They changed it from gravity to mavity by talking to Newton (note that they were not there when he misremembered it, but now they think that is correct). I hope at some point the Doctor will go back and fix it. :)

Maverty is just great, but i assume it’s a one episode and done joke, I assume it’s a loop of him hearing the wrong word so it basically always resets back to Gravity, which is why 14 said it later on randomly.
I’m pretty sure i read that David Tennant actually did the upside down walking and they just added CGI to him (obvs).
I love the scene where 14 stops running and does the TARDIS returning speech, NGL I’ve watched it multiple times since the episode aired
The Donna TARDIS part at the end was sickening, I honestly struggled with that scene and thought that was it and would partially carry over next week. It really worries me going into the final special we’ve had 2 Donna death fakeouts in 2 episodes…
WWWWWWIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLFFFFFF!!!!! Such a nice moment when he sees 14s face. Not sure you saw it because I warned you prior about avoiding the trailer at the end, but it also ended with ‘in memory of Bernard Cribbins’
There has been SO MANY Among us memes about this episode
Timeless child stuff is unfortunate with how much hate CC gets about it, I didn’t enjoy it BUT he continued a story on from a plot of 4th doctor story that revealed 8 previous faces BEFORE 1st doctors face, but Chris gets blamed for this change because he developed more onto it
New season of Doctor Who is May (read that earlier funnily enough, not sure if that was confirmed or an assumption) but it was Spring confirmation officially at least.
Although never official, its assumed Capaldis catchphrase was “shut up” 😂 Jodie’s was probably “fam”, she said it enough anyway

The Doctor was straight up not affected by the Mavity change. When Donna first says it you see him glance over and frown briefly before he chimes in, presumably when he realized they'd changed history. It's been established time travellers are usually more resistant to changes in history than others, so he still remembers it as Gravity and just says Mavity so Donna understands; him saying Gravity with the captain at the end was him slipping up under pressure and using the word he remembered by mistake.

There is a contortionist double in the credits for the Doctor, so he likely did the spider walk.

I think continuity-wise, it isn't a big deal if there were multiple regenerations before the First Doctor, because they weren't necessarily in his identity as the Doctor (correct me if I'm wrong there because I haven't seen that 4 story), but now we have Doctors who identify as the Doctor AND have, not just a TARDIS, but _the_ TARDIS with the broken chameleon circuit that looks like a police callbox. I mean, that still could change to where the Fugitive Doctor is later, but it seems set for now. I'm curious to see what happens, although they probably won't revisit it that much.

One concept of what 'outside the universe' could actually look like (and this is basically not the right term, because space is defined within our universe, is just a soup of sameness. the same energylevel in every direction. it is not nothing just no difference whereever you look. and our universe came into being because in a tiny spot there was slightly more energy then everywhere else and so the univserse expanded on that idea until now. the rest of the 'surroundings' don't care because again, there is no time because nothing ever happens. It's like watching a movie without anything happen, just an empty room. coudl you tell the difference between a movie of said room or just a picture of it?

I'm sure we'll eventually get that Dr. Who/Bioshock crossover.
It's too bad these freaky episodes are outliers and not the norm. When Dr. Who wants to go creepy, it's disturbingly interesting.
