What about the costume worn by Cornelia (Kathy Kersh) in "Impractical Joker/Joker's Provokers" (season 2, ep. 21&22). It appears to be the same costume, but sleeveless.
How many times on the show did they have Batgirl bound and struggling to free herself from her restraints, whether it be chained to a wall, tied up or even pitted against aggressive plant vines?
Does this mean that one of the factors leading into Yvonne Craig being cast for the role of Batgirl was whether or not she fit into the costume they already had on hand? Was she made aware of that requirement?
I had never noticed this before. When you consider the shows from the 60's it's not usual. How many times in Gillian's Island have you pointed the reuse of Items? I love your content keep up the good work. Your work has inspired me to buy several complete programs.
I literally rewatched that Riddler episode two days ago and thought: Will you look at that. It's Batgirl's catsuit. I wonder if there's any mention of it online. And here we are.
No one blames Batgirl for the end of the show. There are real reasons the show ended including ratings decline but even though ABC cancelled it, NBC was ready to take it on and would have but the Batman sets were destroyed before NBC could take over so rather than invest thousands of dollars rebuilding them NBC just dropped the whole thing. It was NOT because of Batgirl.
The unfortunate fact is we may never know for sure if it was indeed the same costume, or if a new one was made especially for Yvonne, given the height difference. They apparently had plenty of the material to work with, considering that Kathy Kersh (Cornelia) from the Season 2 episodes "The Impractical Joker" and "The Joker's Provokers" wore a sleeveless jumpsuit made of it. 😎👍
You may be right about Moth's suit being turned into Batgirl's. The budget for the series shrank by the third season, so recycling the old costume makes sense. Also, the material of the Moth, Batgirl, and Catwoman suits is called Lurex (a trademarked brand name), a made with a yarn with a metallic look. Years ago, I read that Julie Newmar herself was partially responsible for the (Amazing!) fit of her own costume, but haven't verified that yet.
Two best things about this video are how, again, we see that things are repurposed in tv shows and also, how you spot them! You’re a classic tv show detective, Rick 😁 I love stuff like this! Thanks for another interesting video ❤
I re-watched the full 3 seasons last year and I did notice this connection between the costumes. However, I believe there was ANOTHER supervillain female accomplice that wore this same outfit, possibly in the second season, and possibly in a Joker episode, but I can't remember. I noticed this a long time ago. I saw the episodes out of order and that helped me.
One of my many girlfriends when I was a kid. ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
As usual Rick. I didn't know any of this. I just enjoyed the show. Thanks for letting me know. ❤ Love the videos.
Glad you enjoyed it
That they were nearly the same size means the studios had an ideal body type.
Thank you very much!
I re-watched the full 3 seasons last year and I did notice this connection between the costumes. However, I believe there was ANOTHER supervillain female accomplice that wore this same outfit, possibly in the second season, and possibly in a Joker episode, but I can't remember. I just think it was used twice before I got to the third season.
Reminds me of how in the Superboy tv series the costume worn by Bizarro is the same costume worn by John Haymes Newton as Superboy in season 1.
