Batgirl at her best -- rescuing Batman & Robin, helping out in Batfights etc.
Batgirl in her not so good moments -- getting captured easily and ended up in traps etc.
I remember as a kid you could tell by the opening credits if it was a Batgirl episode. Always made it better.
niev300 Yep. If Batgirl swung in on a rope to kick whoever, she was in the episode. And at the end of the opening, she rode across the screen on her Batgirl cycle. Plus, she was only in season 3 anyway.

Yvonne was a professional dancer so they liked to show off her legs. Also from a more practical perspective a woman's lower body strength is much closer to a man's than her upper body strength is

Detriment or not, Batgirl DID add more fun and camp to the show, and don't underestimate Yvonne Craig. A trained ballet dancer (Ballet Russes, I think), she did all her own stunts, and truly "took no prisoners!

I was SO jealous
I was blessed enough to get an email from Yvonne Craig right before she died. I had thanked her for her work in Hollywood and she replied: "Thank you for the kind words." She passed away about a week later. A very beautiful lady.

I saw reruns of this show online when I was younger. I sometimes wonder if Batgirl's kicks hurt more than Batman's punches (especially when she kicked a couple goons in the face). OUCH.

Julie Newmar was the best Catwoman, followed by Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman Returns. I never liked Eartha Kitt as Catwoman, although she was great in other roles.
In what wild stretch of the imagination were there any bad Batgirl scenes?
The only bad Batgirl scenes are the ones with her theme song (mercifully only heard twice).
Probably because nowadays people believe that women are omnipotent/ Omni intelligent or should be omnipotent / Omni intelligent when it comes to the comics / TV shows based on them. But back then this thing was filmed they actually still cared about writing and some reason why it may be cheesy but they were still a cohesive narrative and characters weren't Mary Sue's and Gary Sue's and could actually act like humans.
Only the ones she appeared in.

I know it made for an interesting story line (to have Alfred know both identities and not tell), but I always thought that Alfred should have got Bruce, Dick, and Barbara together and revealed who everyone was. It would have made for some interesting interactions as civilians.

Behind the scenes there was a ton of debauchery. West and Gorshin went to orgies together, that sort of thing. West, by the way, was a prima donna, which is why Robin seems useless on this show even though Silver Age Robin was an expert chemist and cryptographer, fluent in several languages. (In the comics, this became a thing where he can't turn it off. The Teen Titans banned him from playing Clue or watching any mysteries.)

I loved this classic series, (as so many others did and still do) especially loved Romero:s Joker, Meridith's change smoking Penguin, and Gorshin's Riddler, I even enjoyed Eartha Kitts portrayal of Catwoman, I enjoyed series 3 as much as 1 and 2, my favorite stories from series 3 are Jokers UFO story and the Catwoman/Joker story with Mr and Mrs Keeper ''i'd better go and vacuum the upstairs bedroom!'' My husband has fond memories of the series as his grand mother was personal friends with Cesar Romero. Imagine TV portraying a chain smoking Penguin today, the so called do gooders and the PC brigade would have a fit with their leg up showing yesterday's washing!

Still love the fight effects, "Bam" "Pow" recently saw Batman Harley Quinn where they brought it back. "Break", "Bleed", "Ow my balls!"

Some of the Batgirl episodes were okay, but most were awful. It wasn't her fault. When she showed up was when the show went to a once-a-week format and stopped doing the cliff-hangers. It was hard to tell an entire story for all three of them in just 30 minutes minus commercials. Production value took a nose dive with the budget too. Look at some of the sets. They look like they were built to go on the stage with black curtains as backdrops. I know it was supposed to be "campy" but not look dirt cheap.

Yvonne Craig 's Batgirl was an inspiration for me. As a child I didn't see the phony fight moves ( those are ballet kicks! But truth be told, Adam West fight style was not much better)
All I saw was a powerful woman, toe to toe with Batman and Robin. It gave me hope that I could be whatever I wanted to be.

Great little time capsule of a good show. It was 1966 and a campy TV show was in. Batman was often imitated but the other shows were no competition. Adding Batgirl in season 3 was a great move.
