Friendly banter obviously. It may not be your type of relationship but it could be others. From what I see they have history competing with one another and there’s somewhat of a competitive rivalry going on out of that group.
There are plenty of guys who are infinitely more presomptuous than him. He simply knows his worth. Just he doesn't know yet that humility is a necessary virtue. He is clever enough to learn it pretty quickly...

You leave a lot of points on the table if you don't know endgames. Tell 'em, Dina. That is the Russian pedagogical way: endgames first, then middlegames, so if a chance to swap into a won game appears you don't miss it, and only then openings, so you know why you're doing what you're doing, since you've just been taught middlegames. Someday I'm going to open a chess school, and it's going to have three pictures: Karpov, a python, and the Cobra Kai instructor guy from the Karate Kid.

It's driving the king to the edge of the board that I keep forgetting how to do. But learning the bread and butter endgames: minor piece v minor piece with multiple pawns but one side has an iso, bishop v bishop, rook endgames and more rook endgames that are worth every minute speant memorizing them. It's like being the Yankees when they had Mariano Rivera: you get a slight lead in the late middlegame and you swap down to the endgame and bring out your unhittable closer. Okay, maybe not the best analogy :/ Oh, also Botvinnik's quote "knight endgames are essentially pawn endgames" is a lot of knowledge in a short epigram.

From watching her content I think he knew the assignment and played it perfectly. He was having fun with the queen of trash talk. You can often feel the difference in banter and actual mean spirited trash talk. He needs to learn to tone it down a bit first sure, but he knew the assignment and played the role.
