It's so nice to see a conductor actually enjoying himself. They always look so stern and uppity. Tan Dun is great!

I put this on a list of my favorite songs years ago. I came across the list today and couldn’t remember it until I had another listen. I’m so glad I wrote it down! It’s so good!

it sounds more like a movie theme than a symphonic masterpiece. even then, the work provides opportunities for people playing a wide range of instruments to showcase their talent, and it can probably even appeal to the tastes of those who wouldn't usually sit down and listen to a piece of classical music. a great piece overall, and a fantastic way to unite the global community through music, the universal language. bravo, tan dun and the youtube symphony orchestra!

I love the facial expressions that Tan Dun does while conducting. It's as if he's absorbing the fantastic sounds the orchestra is producing and jumping in glee. Has he conducted orchestras before? I need to read up on him. He might just be my new hero. :D

You know, I think the reason I like this is not because the music itself is quite pleasing, but rather, the fact that people from all around the world are willing to be part of an orchestra which is playing a symphony...for an internet site. Also, the fact that the instruments dont exactly blend together and sound like Bethoven kind of gives it it's own distinct feeling. It's an organized, yet a loose composition. I like that, and that's why this deserves 6 stars out of 5 and a favorite.

Dear Tan Dun, this is NOT a symphony, it is film music. Symphony for RUclips couldn't be so romantic, it MUST be symphony, this is only short schmaltzy music!

Tan Dun makes every concert a fantastic, memorable show! I adore the way he conducts - you can clearly see the fun and joy he feels while doing so, it's hard not to smile along with him and instantly the whole concert seems like a private meeting of good friends :))) He's also a very enjoyable person off stage - he tells a lot of jokes and smiles all the time :)

seeing someone whos so into the music just makes everyone else work harder and appreciate the piece more.
i guess that goes for loving everything, not just music.

I have just heard this piece and must react. First of all, I do NOT understand music as much as some of you might. I'm not a music scholar... What is important to me is the feeling I get when listenning. From this one I get joy. It is full of life and so real and so joyful. I mean, come on people don't you hear the love for music in it and don't you see he gives all of his heart into it?! Just watch him and listen. This is simply great!

Perhaps one of, if not the greatest orchestral trumpeters of all time Maurice Murphy. His sound and musicianship are legendary. Listen to the beauty of his trumpet playing at 1:07.
By the way for those that aren't aware of him. His trumpet is the prominent sound on most of John Williams's movie sound tracks such as Star Wars, IndianJones and the Superman soundtracks and more. Recently retired, he is "The Man" when it comes to how the trumpet should sound.

@Ibanez3789 hello Ibanez. Valery Gergiev, our Principal Conductor, often conducts us (the London Symphony Orchestra) without a baton. Famously he sometimes uses what looks like a toothpick, sometimes nothing at all. And sometimes a regular baton.
