“He may have been your father boy, but he wasn’t your daddy - i’m sorry i didn’t do none of it right, i’m damn lucky you’re my boy” absolutely breaks me every time
For those with foster parents, for those with good step parents, for those with caring guardians, older siblings who look after them. :( really inspirational lines by Yondu
Kraglin's reaction to the Ravagers arrival, during Yondu's funeral always gets to me. Much like Quill, Kraglin and Yondu had a similar father/son-like bond, but where Quill's relationship with Yondu is defined by his rebellion and resistance, Kraglin admires him, almost to the degree of hero worship. Kraglin had always looked up to Yondu, wheras Quill only did in their final moments, so for Kraglin it would hit harder that Yondu would be remembered by the world as traitorous scum. When the Ravagers arrive, in that one moment, the world sees Yondu the way Kraglin always has, as a hero.
the deeper message is that even when stallone had to shun yondu, he neverstopped rooting for him. even when you fuck up, there is always redemption if you finish things the right way and yondu most certainly did. he earned his redemption by dying to save peter. james gunn is a powerful storyteller and this is one of his best ballads
dave killed it in this movie as drax with his performance, so underrated. Him yelling where's quill gets me everytime, not to mention the scene when their on the steps with mantis and she feels what he feels and she breaks immediately and he's just there staring straight faced keeping it together.
"All of us who don't really know our dads, maybe it's not a bad thing?" That... Hit a little close to home. I'm just here for some fun, you're over here causing an existential crisis. God damn.
If you think that hits hard, you should watch Lindsay Ellis' video essay on GotG2. She talks about how it really hit her hard because of her own issues with her father. It's a really good watch, but it is a lot more in depth than just laughing at the Guardians doing funny stuff - ruclips.net/video/8VulkN5OLEM/видео.html
David Hasselhoff was not only known for Knightrider but also the show Baywatch, which he was on for like 9 years and is probably connected to that SpongeBob scene you mentioned. He's also a big pop music singer in Germany.
"Of course I've got issues...that's my freaking father!". At 7:44, that's my fav line in Vol 2.😂😂. Solely based the escaping from raging Ego sequence, I thought it'd make for a great inspiration for a GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 3D SIMULATOR RIDE, but we got THE TOWER OF TERROR re-skined Guardians ride which is fine but a Guardians 3D Sim ride would've been stellar.
I met my dad for the first time in 2012. By 2014 he had pulled a gun on me because we had an argument. He died in 2020 and I don't want to speak ill of the dead, but sometimes not knowing is better. Maple, always a great video when you are in it. Keep on keeping on!
Great reaction once again ... and great singing along haha. Fun fact now that you've watched this - In the end credit there is a scene with the ravagers (Sylvester Stallone, Michelle Yeoh, Ving Rhames, etc.). A robot head says, "I miss you guys so much." That part was voiced by none other than Miley Cyrus. She agreed to do the uncredited voice.
I don’t tear up much in movies but for some reason Yondu’s death gets me every time. He’s one of the best characters in the MCU and I wish they would bring him back.
I started following this channel reactions after I saw your lord of the rings reactions and I look forward to each of them, you are full of humor and empathy we need more of that in this world especially right now.
I'd say, that the western world is too full of empathy, and not enough sympathy. Empathy being the mechanism of bonding with a person/concept/thing, that makes you extremely hostile towards anything that you perceive as a danger to the bondee. Pretty much every time regular humans get really nasty is due to empathy. And the dark side is never advertised, so it keeps being touted out like some fucking virtue, to be really empathetic.
for those of us who read the comics back in the day, a yellow lady staring at a pod saying he will call her creation Adam is, well, one of the sweetest easter eggs we could get. you will soon be caught up on your marvel movies, and can maybe start watching disney films as they stream. and GOTG volume 3 will be out some time soon, filming has started, and we just may meet this Adam... suffice to say that one of the stories back in the day (1978 or so), was one of the spiritual turning points of my life. Jim Starlin who created a number of these characters is a very wise man, for a comics writer and artist.
Another fine reaction. "And I shall call him Adam." They will be introducing Adam Warlock, who had golden skin, in the future. His comic history is ... odd. For a while he was known merely as Him.
The song *Chains ⛓️* by Fleetwood Mac it's one of those song that I call a *HARD songs* not hard as hard to play or hard to sing it's just that it has a very very deep deep deep deep deep meaning when you sing it. When it hit it hit and they did it right in this movie.
When I first watched Iron Man in the theatre, I would have never guessed it would eventually lead to one of these movies ending on a shot of a crying raccoon.
15:35 Just thought I'd point out in a movie about fatherhood, with his real father and his father figure battling, his adopted father did make an appearance though it was just for a sec.
The 'Adam' mentioned at the end was supposed to be Adam Warlock. One of the most powerful characters in the marvelverse. They probably had plans on using him in the Infinity War movies but decided not to use him it seems. Maybe he will pop up in a later movie.
Another great reaction and the edit to use your own music for Yondu’s arrow scene was amazing! Although I do like the song from the movie. Maple you’ve got to keep tissues handy at all times with Marvel. Next time I want to see them front and center 😂.
Hey, Maple! Slapstick and sentiment are what this franchise is about! Much like Vol. 1, "Guardians Vol. 2" was an acquired taste for me since the characters differ so radically from the '90s Valentino era and lack the nuance of the '00s Abnett/Lanning era. I take science fiction very seriously. Its deeper themes and allegorical references resonate deeply with me making it a challenge to immerse myself in these goofy antics. The plot centers on the mystery of Quill's parentage revealing that he is half-Celestial whereas he is half-Spartoi in the comics, a prince of one of Marvel's staple interstellar civilizations. In spite of changes such as that, these movies, much like the team, prevail against all odds delivering endings that pack an emotional wallop! James Gunn earns my admiration each time for pushing the boundaries, diving deep and bringing impossible characters like Ego to vivid life! It takes a wildly creative sensibility and a deep affection for this mythology to get this many disparate parts to mesh properly and Gunn has both in spades. I cannot wait to see what he does with that tease for Adam Warlock. The production has an incredibly varied aesthetic that is a feast for the eyes including the golden realm of the Sovereign, the neon-lit tundra of Contraxia, the misty forested world of Berhert, and the lush splendor of Planet Ego. Traditionally a Thor villain, Ego the Living Planet is difficult to comprehend and challenging to render so I give Gunn tremendous credit for reducing him to a relatable stature while retaining his planet-with-a-face appearance. He does get an upgrade to Celestial status but he is his own entity in the comics. The Celestials are titanic armored space gods with Knowhere station being one of their severed heads! Despite varying from their comic counterparts, the returning cast is as game as before including Chris Pratt as Peter Quill aka Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Michael Rooker as Yondu Udonta, Sean Gunn as Kraglin and Karen Gillan as Nebula. Bautista is a stand-out who continues to mine Drax for impressive comedy gold but Rooker steals the show with Yondu's gut-wrenching death scene! Also returning are a high-pitched Vin Diesel as Baby Groot and Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon who remain the only Guardians adapted faithfully except in one regard. According to Gunn, Baby Groot is the offspring of the original Groot rather than a regrown Groot retaining the same memories as in the comics. New characters are Ego, a sentient world that manifests as a man to pollinate other worlds across the universe with his essence! He is played by Kurt Russell as an expansive, avuncular aging hipster who is digitally de-aged to his 1980 likeness in the prologue. Pom Klementieff charmingly plays his empathic pet Mantis who is given a completely different personality than in the comics although she gets to keep her antennae! Elizabeth Debicki plays golden-skinned Ayesha aka Kismet who is transformed into the haughty High Priestess of a golden-skinned species known as the Sovereign. Sylvester Stallone plays Stakar Ogord aka Starhawk whose complex comic backstory is simplified to that of a respected Ravager Captain. He is accompanied by his First Officer, Martinex, a crystalline Plutonian played by Michael Rosenbaum of "Smallville". Both represent a nod to the Valentino Guardians of the '90s. Chris Sullivan plays the traitorous Ravager Taserface whose unfortunate name is actually an authentic deep dive into the comics! Returning in small roles are Laura Haddock as a pre-cancerous Meredith Quill, Gregg Henry as Grandpa Quill, Wyatt Oleff of "It" as young Peter and Seth Green voicing Howard the Duck seen patronizing a Contraxian brothel! In bit parts, Brit character actor Tommy Flanagan plays Tullk, a Ravager loyal to Yondu, Ben Browder of "Farscape" plays a Sovereign Admiral and Elizabeth Ludlow of "The Walking Dead" plays a distressed alien mother fleeing from Ego-matter. Michelle Yeoh as Aleta the Arcturan and Ving Rhames as Charlie-27 the Jovian appear briefly at the Ravager funeral and in one of the end-credit scenes as another Valentino tribute. TRIVIA: 1. James Gunn wore a motion capture suit and served as the model for Baby Groot's opening dance sequence! 2. Vin Diesel had actual scripted lines written for his eyes only so that he could inflect "I am Groot" appropriately. 3. The idea of a self-aware brain like Ego's spontaneously coming into existence is a philosophic thought problem proposed by physicist Ludwig Boltzmann! 4. In between Guardians films, Nebula stunt double, Olivia Jackson, fractured the left half of her face, suffered a traumatic brain injury and had her left am severed in a motorcycle stunt gone wrong! 5. The Zune was an actual Microsoft digital music player developed in 2006 that was discontinued due to its lack of popularity! EASTER EGGS: 1. When Peter is granted cosmic awareness by Ego, his eyes fill with stars and he says he sees eternity. This is a reference to Eternity, the personification of the universe in Marvel comics, who appears as a silhouetted humanoid whose form is filled with starscapes. 2. The larger replacement head-fin that Yondu wears makes him look more like Centaurians do in the comics. 3. Cosmo the canine cosmonaut and Jeff Goldblum's Grandmaster from "Thor: Ragnarok" are seen in the credits themselves frolicking. 4. Among Stakar's reassembled Ravager team in the end-credits is Krugarr, a red, serpentine alien from a species known as Lem. He is a member of the '90s Valentino Guardians and the 31st-century Sorcerer Supreme meaning a successor to Doctor Strange! 5. Seen listening to Stan Lee are Watchers, a race of observers who monitor all that transpire in the universe but never interfere. Uatu is the Watcher assigned to Earth who observes us from his dwelling on the Moon. 6. According to Gunn, this film occurs just months after the first "Guardians of the Galaxy" meaning it is set chronologically before "Avengers: Age of Ultron". CAMEOS: 1. Ego momentarily transforms into Peter's imaginary concept of his father, David Hasselhoff, who appears as himself! 2. Miley Cyrus voices the disembodied robot head Mainframe in the Valentino tribute end-credit scene. 3. Stan Lee appears in a spacesuit regaling a group of Watchers about all his cameos when Rocket, Groot, Yondu and Kraglin are jumping through space! END-CREDIT SCENES: 1. Kraglin tests his ability to control the repaired yaka arrow but misfires puncturing Drax whereupon Kraglin sneaks away. 2. Sylvester Stallone's Stakar Ogord addresses a reassembled team of Ravagers from different clans who collectively represent the Jim Valentino Guardians of the '90s. They include Michael Rosenbaum's Martinex the Plutonian, Michelle Yeoh's Aleta the Arcturan, Ving Rhames' Charlie-27 the Jovian, a CGI Krugarr the Lem and Miley Cyrus' Mainframe the A.I. who is a character from the tertiary MC2 universe but is nonetheless included. 3. A frustrated, vengeful High Priestess Ayesha monitors a birthing chamber she claims will produce the next step in the Sovereign's evolution calling it 'Adam'. This is a tease for the introduction of Adam Warlock! 4. Quill scolds a now-teen Groot to clean his vine-littered room to which he replies with obnoxious, disrespectful iterations of "I am Groot"! 5. Tired of Stan Lee's prattling, the Watchers wander away leaving the old boy stranded in his spacesuit on the desolate planet. The next chronological stop in the MCU are Episodes 11-19 of Season 2 of "Agents of SHIELD" but watching the "Guardians' Inferno" music video first is mandatory! It is located on the "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" blu-ray, Disney+ as an Extra or on RUclips.
4:18 In the MARVEL Cosmic Universe has its share of cosmic wonders Ego Living Planet being one of them but also the *Watchers* (which is who Stan Lee is conversing with) is another one and the *LIVING TRIBUNAL* is another one. Now there is a noted rumor that claims *Stan Lee* may be the being known as *one above ALL* who was supposedly supposed to be the god of the Marvel Universe.
Sure is smart of music companies to disallow their music in reactions. This way, we can be frustrated with them, **and** never hear or seek out the music that I guess they expect us to buy. 👍 And thank you for the great reaction 😇🤍
Its insane. Same thing with the movie companies. We feature old movies and music that aren't being advertised anymore. We should be seen as legacy advertisement.
IP law is complex. For one thing, not defending one's copyright can lead to loss thereof. Xerox found that out the hard way. Using someone's music or video is like breaking into their house and stealing their computer. That's why it's called Intellectual Property. Whether we like it or not, that's the current the current body of law.
I do think Ego did love Meredith in a way. Many point out Ego was never able to produce a true heir besides with Meredith. Why? Was love the missing factor? Unfortunately Ego couldn't see past his own desires of being immortal.
Hey guys, anyone here subscribe to this channel's Patreon for full length reactions? Is it worth it? These youtube vids are horribly edited but I like the girls energy. If it's a better experience on Patreon let me know. Thanks!
Do NOT start with the so-called newer ones. Start with Wrath of Khan, then 3, 4, and 6. The first and fifth are optional but not that necessary. Then the Next Generation first two, Insurrection and Nemesis are preferably skipped. Then don't watch anymore.
@@dhrevrogers that's a really arbitrary list. Wrath of Khan makes little sense of you haven't seen Space Seed. But more importantly millennials can't really relate to geriatric actors. The reboot films are a fine intro to the franchise.
The reboot films are running down hallways in space movies. The original cast films have far more cast chemistry and story driven plots. The reboots center on flashy effects. No, you don't have to see Space Seed to get Khan. I hadn't when I saw Khan in the theaters.
@havok6280 @David Rogers Actually, Havok, that's almost the exact same set I have on my list of Star Trek movie recommendations, so I don't think it can be considered arbitrary -- except I also omitted the very first ST:TNG movie. David, what was it about Star Trek: Generations that made you recommend it?
@@havok6280 They put enough exposition into the movie that the audience gets the idea. What really torques me is when JJ ripped WOK off for Into Darkness, which not only cast a pasty white Englishman for Khan, did _not_ explain why he was crazy. Given that in the JJ-verse Khan's ship was found separate from the Enterprise, he hadn't been driven insane yet. His character arc was jacked up. Just last month JJ announced a new movie should be starting this year, but no one's been signed yet.
I appreciate this film is very meaningful to a lot of people but I don’t love Volume2. I just find it far less edgy than the first. Even the most guarded characters spill their guts and everyone is paired up to work on their relationships. To me it just feels convenient. I respect that Gunn committed to a proper death scene and the film is visually stunning but a lot of it feels emotionally manipulative. I am really looking to Vol 3 as I’m sure after all this time Gunn will have a new take. Can you believe there have been 4 Spider-Man films between Vol 2 and 3?!?
I dunno... Isn't the purpose of movies to take you on an emotional "roller coaster ride"? It seems like being emotionally manipulative is the whole point.
@@bigdream_dreambig I think Gunn is very skilled at making the audience empathetic of weird wonderful character. It’s just that there are 9 in this film and he rushes their catharsis to give them ALL arcs. Literally two meet and immediately reveal their innermost trauma, then in the next scene it happens again! Maybe I’m just too cynical to appreciate that
@@terminatrix92 eh that’s ok everyone has their own tastes. like those people who worship the snyder films, i like some of them but people act like they’re masterpieces
I understood what they were trying to do, but yeah, I think I agree they could have made a better choice. Or at least set up this moment with some earlier event to make the choice here more emotionally impactful.
@@bigdream_dreambig I don't think there's any set up that could make this scene less detrimental to the tone and just downright cringe tbh, just cut the scene all together and have them fight as they do, would also do the same with the hasselhoff transformation while we're at it lol
Yondu’s death and funeral are still the hardest hitting MCU moments for me, will likely be surpassed by guardians 3 next year which is guaranteed to have some really sad shit in it.
Hearing Stan Lee say “Ah gee, Ive got so many more stories to tell” broke my heart to pieces.
I think that every time myself.
I was trying to figure what characters in the movie stan helped create and it was the watchers, ego, and groot i cant think of anymore

The most powerful scene in this film was when the ravagers gave yondu his funeral!
It just breaks me everytime!
I agree, Kraglin going crazy over it only adds to that
I think its a tie ... the ravager funeral scene, and the scene where Nebula tells Gamora, "And I just wanted a sister."

EASTER EGGS:
CAMEOS:
END-CREDIT SCENES:
Did you miss anything?
4:18 In the MARVEL Cosmic Universe has its share of cosmic wonders Ego Living Planet being one of them but also the *Watchers* (which is who Stan Lee is conversing with) is another one and the *LIVING TRIBUNAL* is another one. Now there is a noted rumor that claims *Stan Lee* may be the being known as *one above ALL* who was supposedly supposed to be the god of the Marvel Universe.
I'm Mary Poppins y'all .... such a wonderful line.
agreed
Was really good in 3D
Shout out to everyone who grew up with a non-biological father figure. 🧒👨🏻
Hey there, Maple! 🤗
you should watch the first couple of episodes of Knight Rider
17:39 The saddest moment in MCU history.
Well, that's my cry-quota for the week met.
Loved the reaction. Hoping you're going to be watching GOTG 3 very soon
What is insane about GOTG? They always fought the one who tried to becomes a God: Ronan, Ego, Thanos even HE (just try to avoid spoiler)
Please do Train to Busan with Maple!
You have t go watch the little music video called "Guardians Inferno"!
New subscriber here, what's that end music you guys use?
Dated - ruthless
Ahahahahaha I feast upon your pain! Oh such sweet agony! I feast upon your tears ahahahahahahahahahaha
Maple lookin fine af
So great!
Sure is smart of music companies to disallow their music in reactions. This way, we can be frustrated with them, **and** never hear or seek out the music that I guess they expect us to buy. 👍
And thank you for the great reaction 😇🤍
Adam Warlock 👀👀
This hits different when actually lose your dad
U should react to " "Guardians' Inferno" | Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 " XD
I do think Ego did love Meredith in a way. Many point out Ego was never able to produce a true heir besides with Meredith. Why? Was love the missing factor? Unfortunately Ego couldn't see past his own desires of being immortal.
Watch the 3rd one as well
It's the most emotional one in the whole series
I can guarantee you
U will cry
Every parent would die for their kid especially yando
first time i watched this movie, i cried like a little boy at the ending scene (spoilers) DAMN YOU ONIONS! ;')
I love the fact you cry as much as I do. Sure it’s “masculine”, but I wouldn’t trade the range of emotions for numbness ever.
Next we Honor probably one the greatest actors of our generation. *🕯️ Chadwick Bozeman 🕯️* *The Black Panther* 💜🖤💜🖤💜🖤💜🖤💜🖤
Unfortunately thats not next
Boseman
Please watch GALAXY QUEST!
Galaxy Quest works better if you're familiar with Trek and Shatner in particular. It'd be like watching Space Balls without having seen Star Wars.
Yeah we will but I need to show them a baseline of star trek TOS or early TNG for them to get the references
@@Diegesis Ooh, picking a handful of stand-out episodes to represent those series will be difficult / fun.
👁👁 🍿
Delightful. See y'all this afternoon.
Yep. Off to sleep for me so I can wake up and moderate the premiere
@@Diegesis Work, work, work... :)
Hey guys, anyone here subscribe to this channel's Patreon for full length reactions? Is it worth it? These youtube vids are horribly edited but I like the girls energy. If it's a better experience on Patreon let me know. Thanks!
Adam Warlock
i have no idea what you are talking about. no such thing exists, especially in the MCU. so stop talking about HIM.
@@mercurywoodrose nah, it's just my favorite character in Marvel Future Fight
IAM MARY POPPINS Y'ALL
Please watch the STAR TREK movies! 🖖
When is Adam Warlock coming? Marvel been teasing him for like 10 years.
I completely forgot they teased him. I guess he could it in with the Eternals somehow?
Adam warlock is already confirmed and cast for guardians 3....he ll be played by actor will poulter..
Guardians 3 releases next year, 2023
Gonna be in the next Guardians film, Will Poulter has been cast.
boring character. just likes to hang out with trolls.
@@mercurywoodrose Pip has already appeared. :)
drax's neg game is on point
No it is a bad thing not to know your father.
Yeah....the pacman thing was not only ridiculous and unfunny but really undercuts the drama and the emotion of it all lol
RIP Drax and Rocket :(
Yondu’s death and funeral are still the hardest hitting MCU moments for me, will likely be surpassed by guardians 3 next year which is guaranteed to have some really sad shit in it.
