That scream is called the Wilhelm Scream. "The Wilhelm scream is a stock sound effect that has been used in a number of films and TV series, beginning in 1951 with the film Distant Drums. The scream is usually used when someone is shot, falls from a great height or is thrown from an explosion. He was turned down by two military branches ...He was 5'5" and weighed 112 lbs....About the size of "the little guy" in this movie.....After gaining the required minimum weight the US army took him in.

Germany, just like ALL countries, has a wide variety of regional accents. A person from Bavaria, for instance, will sound different to someone from Brandenburg.
This idea of a German accent is so cringy... There aren't too many Hollywood actors who can pull it off convincingly. Taika Waititi is one amazing exception, he blew me away in What We Do In The Shadows.

Cap to me is like the benchmark for all superheroes. He doesn't need to be anyone's favourite because whoever your favourite is they want to be just like Cap.
Cap's cool and all, but my favorites are Wolverine and Thor, and they both never expressed any inclination to be like Cap. Wolverine respects Cap *a lot,* but he is much less of a boyscout, lives a much darker life and although he often reflects on his brutal actions he also often makes it a point, that he is the most "get it done, whatever it takes"-kind of superhero. Thor and Cap respect each other as equals in terms of bravery and values and Thor is 100% confident with who he is, he definitely doesn't want to be someone else. The lab scene, in the comics Project Rebirth; basically use the Super Soldier Serum (the blue liquid in the tubes) stabilized by Vita-Rays to create a person at the physical peak of human potential. Steve Rogers was quite literally the Guinea Pig, once the process was perfected the plan was to run all 8 Million+ members of the US Armed Forces through it. The process worked...the rest of the plan had some faults. Thus 'I was promised an Army, all I got was you.'
Project Rebirth is also the progenitor to the Weapon X project that enhanced Wolverine, originally called the Weapon Plus Project after the war as it attempted to replicate the success of Captain America. Another fun thing to note is Weapon Plus was run by the Canadian Government in the comics, which is why so many of their test subjects tend to be Canadian as well (like Wolverine as mentioned before as well as Deadpool)
Also I can say that Ersinn has a pretty accurate accent. Some of my classmates talk exactly like that, even after 5 years studying English. It's true tho that it stops being that extreme after you talked English for a while :D
So many nice touches. The blast flash on the "Red Skull's" face as he's killing a minion (classic "Red Skull" frame.) The "Red Skulls" face as the "Teserract" banishes him (homage to the moment in the comics when the "Cosmic Cube" caused the "Red Skull" to lose his mind and fall into madness.)
Captain America (in the comics) was made in 39 as war propaganda before WW2. After the war, he reminded people of WW2 and they killed him. In the 60s when superhero comics were popular again, they revived him.
Did anyone notice Jenna Coleman (credited as Jenna-Louise Coleman) in a bit role as one of the guys' dates at the expo? She's the one from Dr. Who and also Victoria on PBS.
I've been following your Marvel watches and I feel this may have been your best one! Maybe it's the personal connection. I enjoyed watching this one immensely! You startled me at one point. You said, "There's that scream again!" It's rare that anyone notices it! You can hear that scream in a lot of movies and a few video games. It's been floating around Hollywood since 1951. It's called the Wilhelm Scream and it's something of a tradition among sound designers at this point.
@@jean-paulaudette9246 The scream dates back to 1951 and a movie called Distant Drums. In 1953, poor Private Wilhelm gave that scream after catching an arrow in the leg in the film in the movie The Charge at Feather River and the Wilhelm Scream got its name. It's been in tons of movies since them. (Hint: Listen carefully to the Stormtroopers when they're shot.)
I have no doubt that it will climb steadily. Most of the current form content is relatively recent, and most of the subscribers are as well. It just takes a little while for new (or newly restructured) channels to gain traction.
Something kind of alluded to in Hulk, the army was trying to reproduce the super solider serum that made Steve how he is. It kind of ended badly with Banner. Blonski took a modified version and that's what made him so fast and strong.
Several fun facts; this is not Chris Evans' first Marvel superhero role. He also played Johnny Storm in two movies about the Fantastic Four. War bond rallies were real, and it was not uncommon to feature decorated servicemen to help drive sales. Also, his bond costume is based on his original comic costume. Back in the early 1960s, Marvel decided to cash in on the WW2 craze (tv shows such as Rat Patrol, Twelve O'Clock High, Combat!, McHale's Navy, and Hogan's Heroes were very popular), so they created Sgt. Fury and the Howling Commandos. The eye patch came later, when they took Sgt. Fury and created Col. Nick Fury, agent of SHIELD. The crew that Cap put together for this movie are the Howling Commandos, even if they aren't called that.
29:47 Captain America using the shield both defensively and offensively, hurling it to knock enemies down and stuff, that's been a part of his character since the 1940's. Over the decades that shield has bounced off and knocked down HYDRA thugs, AIM scientists, gods, monsters, super villains and more. You don't mess with around when Captain America throws his mighty shield.
Finally a reactor who doesn't freak out when Peggy stands up with the Red Skull's Benz is teetering over the edge of the runway. Also, quick thinking to spin that sucker around.
Haha, about Stanley Tucci's German accent, I found this at Wikipedia: "Tucci said that what drew him to the role was the opportunity to do a German accent, which was something he always wanted to try."
@5:52 - That blue cube (the Tesseract) is the same one you saw in the end credits of Thor. @9:38 - It's not like an evil scientist's laboratory, it IS an evil scientist laboratory - two of them in fact, Schmidt and Zola. @18:35 - The US sold "War Bonds" to help finance World War II. They had already raised taxes on the wealthy, but didn't want to raise them on the people working in factories and fighting. The bonds were paid back after the war. @23:40 - Keep in mind Steve found Bucky in a lab. This will be important later. @24:50 - Erskine had said Schmidt forced him to use the serum on himself before it was finished, but there were "other effects". One of them was turning his skin red. He wore a rubber mask when dealing with non-Hydra people. @37:26 - Note that Red Skull didn't disintegrate, but was beamed into space with rainbow colors. Does that remind you of anything?
Steve's plan was to get caught so that he could get on the inside, be told the enemy's plans, and provide a diversion for the full attacking force, including his team.
15:45 This is the Nazis experimenting with supernatural shit to make super tech. In other words, not the '40s as it actually happened. Although some of the things the Nazis had very early stage blueprints for but hadn't built yet when the regime fell were pretty hair raising in real life, from what I understand. 26:15 The actor playing Bucky is Sebastian Stan (the Mad Hatter from Once Upon A Time). 33:23 It's called the Wilhelm Scream. It's a stock sound effect dating back to around the time this movie is set, which is, I think, why it makes an appearance here. George Lucas made it popular with mass audiences by using it in what at that time was the highest grossing movie ever, Star Wars.
Quite a number of things the Nazis had blueprints for...never actually worked. Some required technology that was decades away (ie a practical flying wing). Some 'worked' but the cost and unreliability was such that they very likely would have been better off with a less advanced weapon that worked 99.9% of the time. Great touches by the film makers to use these historical relics to give great flavor to the Nazi/Hydra Super-Science Projects.
fun fact maple the part where agent carter touched steve chest after he got the serum wasn't part of the script the actress was really shocked by how he looked
I love the clever hinting at Schmidt being Redskull when he’s getting his portrait done, with not just the painter’s reaction, but the smooth bald silhouette, and fact that the only colour on the painter’s palette is red. Great film making
Just mentioning that Germany has a ton of different regional dialects. Just because your grandma might have a different german accent, that doesnt mean the scientists is bad or inaccurate.
I love how they never use large enough conductors and such in their electrical equipment. I guess it's just so much more dramatic with sparks flying around rather than using sound electrical engineering principles. 😉
Some practical advice for the real world: car doors do not block bullets. Even a typical pistol round will easily penetrate both sides of a typical car, with enough energy remaining to kill a person.
I know what you mean about "Erskin's" accent, but I think he was going for hint of Yiddish with substantial emersion at MIT or Oxford in advanced studies before returning to Germany in and around WWI. That would be a viable analysis as an actor, but it was a tiny bit off. I honestly thought it was so his comedic lines would have better delivery.

Another fun thing to note is Weapon Plus was run by the Canadian Government in the comics, which is why so many of their test subjects tend to be Canadian as well (like Wolverine as mentioned before as well as Deadpool)
May of 2012 I was stationed in Germany with the Army and had the opportunity to see the Avengers in theaters and I even got the 1st Avengers coin 🙂
Also I can say that Ersinn has a pretty accurate accent. Some of my classmates talk exactly like that, even after 5 years studying English. It's true tho that it stops being that extreme after you talked English for a while :D
So many nice touches. The blast flash on the "Red Skull's" face as he's killing a minion (classic "Red Skull" frame.) The "Red Skulls" face as the "Teserract" banishes him (homage to the moment in the comics when the "Cosmic Cube" caused the "Red Skull" to lose his mind and fall into madness.)
tesseract melting him scene also reminded me of raiders of the lost ark a lot
@@Diegesis Less messy... "GOD! CLEAN UP ON A GREEK ISLAND!" "Yeah yeah..."
Technically, I think "The Ark" was "self-cleaning."
it's funny because Zola in the comics actually was in a big robot with his face on the torso screen like George Lopez in Spy Kids 3
I did. I had rhe biggest crush on her in Dr.Who. the cutest companion by far
I would love to know why it's called the Wilhelm scream, and its earliest use in film or television.
@@davidoneal6157 Nice trivia score! Thank you!
Hugo Weaving played Lord Elrond. but before that he was in The Matrix as Agent Smith.
He'll forever be Agent Smith to me.
yeah but she hasn't seen that yet.
@@Diegesis gotta be on her list then!😁
I liked him a lot in V for Vendetta...
The Red Skull, Elrond, Agent Smith, V for Vendetta, and my favorite father of Desmond Doss.
It blows my mind that this channel "only" have 26k subs... it's one of the best react channels out there IMO.
thank you so much. youtube is fickle
Funniest scene is when Peggy finds Steve in the bar trying to get drunk and he tells her he can't get drunk because of the serum.😂
The First Avenger is MCU most Underrated movie
Definitely! I think it's still my favorite of all 27 movies they've done so far.
33:15 that's the famous "Wilhelm" scream. It's used in nearly every action movie.
I love how you enjoy the movies, rather than try to nitpick... new subscriber!
Finally a reactor who doesn't freak out when Peggy stands up with the Red Skull's Benz is teetering over the edge of the runway. Also, quick thinking to spin that sucker around.
I like how he says that red skull is the dude from Lord of the rings and everybody knows that... I guess I'm old cuz that's agent Smith
I used that point of reference cause she had just reacted to lotr and not seen the matrix yet
Haha, about Stanley Tucci's German accent, I found this at Wikipedia: "Tucci said that what drew him to the role was the opportunity to do a German accent, which was something he always wanted to try."
To me he kinda sounded like Einstein
36:59 “I’ve seen the future… you could have the power of the gods” remember that quote!
At 30:08, when I first saw this in theaters I can girled out. I mean, he tossed a grande belt into a building size tank!
"A military speakeasy?" - LOVE the reference! :)
Thanks for the refresh. Guess my kids and I are doing a marvel marathon this weekend.
Steve's plan was to get caught so that he could get on the inside, be told the enemy's plans, and provide a diversion for the full attacking force, including his team.
I had an Aunt Maple ~ other than her, you're the first "Maple" I've known!
when the Red Skull grabbed the Tesseract at the end of the movie , he got teleported into Space!
Love the channel! And Maples reactions are great it’s always fun to see peoples reactions to marvel stuff for the first time
Hugo Weaving played the Red Skull/Schmidt! The head of Medusa, a WW2 scientist organization not loyal to Hitler but to themelves!
Never trust elves
13:15 "Build a boyfriend" 😂😂😂😂 We need one for "build a girlfriend" too...
According to Pitch Meeting, the musical number was used to introduce his super hero name and his costume.
Yep. "Little Stevie" looks like Martin Short in "Clifford." Shout out to the "reactor" that put that in my brain FOREVER.
Hell yeah, you get to watch the Avengers next and you won't have to wait like we all did! Enjoy!
Nice that you apprecite that you didn't have to wait! We had to wait.
fun fact maple the part where agent carter touched steve chest after he got the serum wasn't part of the script the actress was really shocked by how he looked
How? she woulda seen him all through the basic training scenes
I love the clever hinting at Schmidt being Redskull when he’s getting his portrait done, with not just the painter’s reaction, but the smooth bald silhouette, and fact that the only colour on the painter’s palette is red. Great film making
Welcome to Maple. I frickin love it! So stinkin'cute!
"Hail Hydra"
"How about no"
☠☠
When Maple said she couldn't wait to see Stan Lee, I thought she meant Mr. Tucci.
haha Stan lee Tucci
Just mentioning that Germany has a ton of different regional dialects. Just because your grandma might have a different german accent, that doesnt mean the scientists is bad or inaccurate.
30:06 “They’re like mercenaries, but like, a team of them.”
*Meet The Team noises*
I love how they never use large enough conductors and such in their electrical equipment. I guess it's just so much more dramatic with sparks flying around rather than using sound electrical engineering principles. 😉
Haha
It's called the Wilhelm scream, 1st seen in a 1951 movie and re used over and over in dozens of other movies
@@mawangshallhang lol true. Or, you can look at it as an audio Easter egg 🥚
The way Peggy looks at Steve after he says why he's late is goals lol
That comments about the German accent 😂… that’s how you know you’ve never been outside ur area because u think everyone should have the same accent ☠️
Great reaction. "I can do this all day."
Some practical advice for the real world: car doors do not block bullets. Even a typical pistol round will easily penetrate both sides of a typical car, with enough energy remaining to kill a person.
20:19 yeah portable cameras were pretty sparce around 1942
That "Scream" is the famous "Wilhelm Scream"
The derpy thumbnail for this vid was selected by one of the other women on the team. Maple generating all the heat.
I'm surprised she wasn't like, "Lord Elrond!" when she saw Hugo Weaving
hope you notice lord Elrond here 🤣🤣
22:38 the guy with the bolo hat is Carl Urban.
The director of this film is the original designer of the Star Wars Universe. (Joe Johnston)
“Wouldn’t it almost be better to have a soldier who wants to…?” - Yes, Maple, exactly!
I think they were trying to emulate Albert Einstein
@@Diegesis It's all relative... "Buh dump bump."
Your reactions are friggin awesome!! Keep up the awesome work...
