Maureen was the moral compass of Guiding Light.

Funny how certain scenes just stick with you because it was joyous memories Vanessa & Maureen getting drunk together having girls night...PERFECT

Who can forget Maureen smashing Bert's teacup after reading the letter... that symbolised the smashing of the Bauer family and was the most symbolic moment in the show's history... way more iconic for me than Reva in the fountain because it tied in to the actual heritage of the show and Reva was an outsider.

The actual quote is "You have reduced us to a ridiculous suburban joke." The line of all lines.

Killing Maureen was the worse thing they ever did and to me Guiding light was never the same. To me it ruined the show. I'm so glad to see all these ladies together thank you Alan.

They NEVER should have killed off the character of Maureen Bauer!! I loved the Guiding Light, but this was their biggest mistake ever.

When they killed Maureen, Guiding light began bleeding and eventually bled out.

Tina Sloan, thank you so much for mentioning Somerset during the show. It was my all time favorite back in high school. I used to run home from school to watch at

I love finding this interview and I love that the GL community STILL isn't over Maureen Bauer's death! We are a passionate bunch! Thanks for making these interviews happen! So gracious of them to do Zoom interviews! I'm in quarantine currently, and this really brightened up my day of isolation, so thank you!

I enjoyed this one immensely. Maeve is very humorous and offered good insights into her fellow actors' working styles. Tina seemed like a friend that everyone would want to have off camera. Ellen seemed like she hadn't watched clips of the show in awhile, which if she had, might have aided her memory. Rachel was lovely. The only way this one would have been better would have been if Peter Simon had been included since we do need his perspective on the storyline involving Maureen's death.

I will never forget this story line. Superb acting . I was 12 and didn’t get home from school until 4 so my mom would record them . I was so shocked that Maureen perished in that wreck . I cried like I knew her . I was sad for Vanessa. That’s how great this time in GL was .

  • @chrismcevoy2503

I remember the line when Maureen said to Ed “Don’t you talk to me about Michelle you can’t use her as a selling point to save your hide. I’ll never forget that line and when Maureen said that to Ed.

Great interview(s). It really is amazing the impact of killing of Maureen Bauer had. It wasn’t just big in the soap world but in the main stream media, too. It was hated universally when it happened. It’s been 27 years and I think it’s worse now. Goodbye My Friend indeed.

Wendy Moniz was the best Dinah, she and Maeve were amazing together. Her Dinah was so damaged by her childhood. She had a Audrey Hepburn type of great beauty.

Absolutely loved this! Maeve's performance as Vanessa was wonderful, especially when she is conniving. Ellen and Tina were great also. Never saw Rachel as I started working and was unable to watch much after 1984. Thanks, Alan!

I wish the writers had given Ed and Maureen a miracle kid.
