    I definitely want to see the valve cover gasket replacement

      I may wait until I pull the engine and sort all the little preventive maintenance things. Next for this car is a carbon clean and intake manifold inspection.

    Nice video, man. May I suggest a tripod for your camera next time? Would free up your hands... Are you going to do the valve cover gasket ? That would be a really useful video.

      didnt have my tripod with me. I will do the valve cover when I pull the engine out. I checked again few months later and barely any oil, a few drops is all. I want to do valve cover and cam girdles plus engine mount sensor (can't be reached with engine in) Im in the middle of relocating my business so no time or room for it now.

    Cool good to see these videos. I got the A8L 4.2 liter. Did you have any coolant leaks from the coolant pipe right above the exhaust manifolds on both sides? Cheers

    • @Nordic_Mechanic
      @Nordic_Mechanic  3 года назад

      Never had the leak on my 4.2L A8L nor the 5.2L S8. Is you 4.2 the FSI or older ?

      @@Nordic_Mechanic mine is a 2004 Bfm i guess. I changed the valve cover gaskets, camshaft plugs which were leaking on both sides. There is a coolant pipe that goes right beside the head just above the exhaust manifold. I think that the coolant is seeping through the pipe. There is some rust so the pipe is a bit moist on the bottom. Gonna check it out just got the car in october. I got it as a project car so i do not mind doing the work.

      @@lesmajszki2918 BFM are very strong engine, they last a long time with proper maintenance. Cam tensioner can go wrong....thats about it lol. Timing belt to service as part of normal maintenance. THey are good on power, good on gas mileage and easy enough to service except starter

      @@Nordic_Mechanic yeah the timing belt was done 25k ago by previous owner. When the valve cover gasket was changed i looked at the chain guides and they look like they are new. No marking or anything that looks wrong with them.

    Audi spark plugs. If Audi makes it to miles when it needs new plugs... Fancy Snap off Digital torque wrench

    • @Nordic_Mechanic
      @Nordic_Mechanic  5 лет назад

      The D3 S8 is actually very reliable. It's made pretty strong. The biggest problem is people don't do enough italian tuneups and the intake cakes up (Direct injection). And other problem with high end cars is bad mecanics not being used to them and causing issues. IE the ignition coil connectors. I got a full set ordered in the mail.
      Torque wrench is my friend's, he's got all 3 size of those, they are worth every penny

    No its not they make them in metal or plastic 2 different brands never cross brands there ohmed different. And dont ever replace one do them all dont half ass it . The used ones the ohmes increase on causing more resistance . Ausis are picky as fuck and the pc will pick up the slighest thing different or wrong and will throw codes. Good video.

    • @Nordic_Mechanic
      @Nordic_Mechanic  4 года назад

      The metal and plastic ones are simply revisions of the same coil. Both are made by bosch. This is my car and putting 2 instead of whole set lets me separate the truth from the not so true. I would have replaced 10 but wanted to see if it would cause problem. I have the 8 other brand new coils but havent had a reason to install them so far.

      @@Nordic_Mechanic you can by metal i think they.make.both in everybrand i think the metal is a little higher quality.

    • @Nordic_Mechanic
      @Nordic_Mechanic  4 года назад

      @@RICHIE_RICH89 I've not been able to get bosch in metal locally. It was possible to get offbrand in metal. The number do interchange and they work perfectly so far. I must admit I was bummed to find they werent as shiney. We will see about durability. It`s my own car so I`m sure to see it again if it fails

    Never use non dealer plugs in a audi v10 ever

    • @Nordic_Mechanic
      @Nordic_Mechanic  5 лет назад

      The plugs I put in are the actual plug used from the factory by audi on this engine and market. The same exact number it came out with in 2007.

      Why only use only dealer plugs on v10?denso , ngk they all are gapped to manufacturers specs

      @@Truth_Seeker_79 because certain cars run better on factory plugs , like dodge they run good on champion , a guy put auto craft in it ran like shit we changed them back it ran great. Trying to explain this to people that dont get it don understand there denso plugs are the correct heat range and correct length to the t. I worked for audi many yrs they run the best on factory hardware there spec to meet there demanding requirements. Believe what you want im just passing on info.

      @RICHIE_RICH89 4 года назад +1

      @@Truth_Seeker_79 factory has the 4 audi rings and vw stamped on them i believe ngk makes them for them but audi has stringent standards they must reach. Lower ohm resistance ect heat range to the spec and the four prongs are the exact tolerance . People can say im crazy but some cars perform best with factory equipment. They basically hold them to standards higher than there plugs they sell aftermarket.
