I had a 1989 V6 automatic for a short time. It had a digital dash. It was given to me to get it out of a ladies back yard. It had sat for a long time. Transmission was slipping 2nd to 3rd. I let it go to a title pawn place when I found out that the title had been pawned. They wanted almost 2 grand and I wasn't going to pay that and fix the transmission.

A couple reasons: he can then drive anything; it will make him a better driver; its likely his friends won't know how so he'd never be pressured to lend his car to his friends; better on gas; cheaper to maintain and one less thing to go wrong.

There was only so much being me and my dog but I showered every other day at least, and kept garbage in cans and not in the road or on the side of the road. It has everything to do with effort. It's been well over a year now and I keep my room as tidy as I can I don't get other people.

"You should probably have experience blahblahblah" I learned in a Datsun 210, 5-speed. I taught my sister in an 86 plymouth turismo, another 5-speed. My best friend learned in a Farmont with a 4-speed (ALSO a fox body, and a 302, iirc). Learning a stick gets people more in tune with the health of the car. No traction control teaches you how to control a vehicle without relying on the neat little helpers that can stop working.

my only thought on two cars stinking that bad is what if they both were flood cars, flood waters have all sorts of nastiness in them and when that gets stuck in the carpets / low points in the car and then bake all closed up in these lots can make for horrid smells when you are checking them out

Not all kids are the same. My first car was a 1974 Mustang Mach 1 with a 351 Cleveland engine, 4 speeds on the floor, Holly 4 barrel carb, Hooker heads... etc. I respected my car and I cherished it and drove it very safely. Nick is a very responsible kid with a good personality who deserves better than a PT Cruiser or Chev HHR. (both are known for transmission & head gasket failures). I would rather give him a Honda Civic, Acura Coupe, Hyundai Veloster, etc. If Nick were my son, I would give him the Fox body Mustang for getting Straight A's~ Good job Nick, and keep it up! Maybe you will get the Fox body Mustang for college.

I have driven 5 different HHR and put over 1.2 million miles on them. The HHR is far easier to work on. The PT has to have the motor removed to replace the water pump, and that water pump goes bad way too fast. Because of the number of cars that use the same engine and transmission in the HHR, parts are easy to find.

I had a Subaru GL wagon once that I had to drive through a dump truck full of paper plant waste spilled out. It didn't smell at all and I didn't think to wash it right away. It started making the inside of the car smell horrific when the temp out got to the mid 90's or higher. No washing the under side of the car would cure it, only the temp outside cooling off did anything. It was in Central WI though, so the temp hasn't that bad very often. The transmission was already going bad and someone bought it for parts.

A 2011-2014 Honda fit is a second GEN that doesn’t have the horrid CVT trans!
The 1st gen and 3rd gen has the CVT in USA market!
But 2nd gen is a reg 5 gears transmission auto or manual! U get 40mpg and it’s a 12 gal tank!
So cheap to fill and gets 400-450 miles per tank!
And very handy u can fold back seats down and load so many things like mini van! And the butt part of rear seat folds upwards so u can hold things parallel
And the 1.5l non turbo doesn’t have the oil consumption that the other engines have and turbos have!
I loved mine and u can get them cheap! Less than 5k miles with 100k miles or less!

just wondering would they let you fly a drone over the lot to pick out what you want to look at and save you from the rear end and other hidden external surprises?

My 04 pt cruiser gt turbo was fully loaded I loved the car but the electrical issues were the killer of that car. The reason I got it was one it was free and two my friend had an hhr and I loved hers she had a ss in red

Hey u can find a 4 cyl 2 dr rear wheel drive fox body coupe mustang!
    I had a 1995 box body 4 spd auto 2.4l non turbo
It was a heavy car since most of it was metal except for the fiberglass front fenders!
But it was a nice reliable car for couple years even not bad in snow and I’m in Hilly CT
Snow can get up to a foot or two in 1 storm!
But the pos traction kept the rear end straight going up hills!
    Now down hill was tricky
Had to be in lowest gear and not lock up brakes
But the weight of car would speed up the car
If u didn’t ride the brakes lol.

Randy, have you ever heard back about the dealers auto auction outfit recently. About if you can go back there

Hybrid Cadillac would have been a great first car, Randy is funny enough alone but with Monkey wranch Mike the humour between the two complement each other ✌🏽

18:52 I see you have the noco battery jumper. If you use the thing it must be good. I've been looking for one for myself.

Randy, when I was Nicks age, I would have taken anything.
However, I'm 30 now, and kind of want what I want within reason.
No, no one is getting me a 911 or a Gallardo, of course, but I do want exactly what I want now that I'm older.
I always got A's and B's in school, I did pretty well for just barely being diagnosed with Aspergers in high school, again, when I was Nicks age.
I'd pick the HHR over the PT Cruiser.
The HHR I thought was a better built vehicle than the PT Cruiser was.
I thought the PT Cruisers were junk in contrast to the HHR.
More issues with the PT Cruisers than the HHRs mechanical wise.
I don't know if I'm biased towards the HHR or what, But I like them more than the PT Cruiser for sure.
We have a 2016 Elantra, a base SE, and we love it.
Also check out a 2000-2007 Ford Focus, great cheap cars, and you don't have to worry is something happens to it.
