Aaliyah thank you for this wonderful reaction. One of the most influential bands of all time. This rooftop performance was the very last public performance they ever gave. Ringo is still considered to be in the top ten greatest drummers of all time having a very unique style that few have ever been able to imitate. I remember John’s death vividly to this day. We all cried for days. Just one very random fact as someone above mentioned the shooting of John. The murderer had a second potential victim on his list for that day - David Bowie.
This song is part of the Beatles' return, late in their recording career as a band, to their roots in relatively simple rock n roll after a few albums that were far more conceptual, psychedelic, spiritual and experimental.
Yes, anyone coming from the classical music tradition is more likely to appreciate "Because," which John Lennon said was influenced by Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata.
Just one of the many great Beatles songs. One of the things I like about the Beatles is how their music matured as they got older and the natural changes in music over the years. Great song, and as always, great reaction. 😊
Hi Aaliyah! Thanks for the reaction to this Beatles classic! The song was originally issued on a single (45) as the B-side to the A-side "Get Back", but IT was always the song I preferred. Then in the 80s or 90s I saw a jukebox in a restaurant that had that single, but inserted with "Don't Let Me Down" as the "A"!

Hi Aaliyah. Great video. And as you go, stop each year and listen to top 10 songs from the year to really juxtapose what The Beatles were doing vs everyone else. It's mind boggling! Have fun!
The Beatles recorded together for only 8 years. Unbelievable how much great music they produced in such a short amount of time. They were all still in their 20's when the broke up. Very sad time in everyone's lives. Nobody will ever match what The Beatles accomplished.
Hi Aaliyah, I first saw The Beatles when I was 6 years old 2/1/1964 on the Ed Sullivan Show and I've been a fan since then, I think they played "All My Loving" and this was one of the last songs they played on a London roof top on 1/30/1969. The video "Now and Then" is only with Paul McCartney, 82, & Ringo Starr, 83, are the remaining Fab Four. John Lennon passed from a gun shot on 12/8/1980 and George Harrison passed from cancer 12/29/2001 and there was a Concert for George 12/29/2002
"Don't Let Me Down" was recorded in 1969 during the "Let It Be" sessions. The band recorded the song with keyboardist Billy Preston. The Beatles performed this song twice during their rooftop concert in January 1969.
Younger people don't realize how big the Beatles was😮 This is one of these last performances what's the so-called fifth Beatle electric Man Billy Preston.
One of the few contributions from Lennon at this late stage of the Beatles career, and it didn’t even make the Let it be album. Meanwhile Paul was hitting it out of the park with classic songs such as Get back, the long and winding road, two of us and let it be.
I know you already did this reaction to the live version, but I suggest you consider also doing a separate reaction video for the studio version of this song. I haven't seen anyone react to the studio version, and I am a lifelong Beatles fan, yet somehow I didn't hear Don't Let Me Down until I was like 19 and the second John started singing it stopped me in my tracks, it’s my favorite Beatles song. His voice is unbelievable on the track.
In early 1969, The Beatles were filmed performing live for the last time on the rooftop of their Apple Corp. headquarters w/ Billy Preston on keyboards... The band was also filmed attempting to record an album as 'Get back'... but the sessions were marred by infighting and disagreements. The tracks were deemed unsatisfactory - the tapes were later finished by producer Phil Spector and released in 1970 as the final Beatles studio album 'Let it be'. In 1969, The Beatles finished the album 'Abbey Road'... and shortly after its release that year, John Lennon quietly told the Beatles that he was leaving the band... Paul McCartney wanted The Beatles to continue but Lennon could not be persuaded. In 1970, Paul McCartney went public w/ the Beatles breakup by suing John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr in court to dissolve their partnership... It was a sad end to the iconic 'Fab 4'... but McCartney later revealed that the suit was actually directed at manager Allen Klein, who managed the other 3 Beatles; McCartney was suspicious of Klein and refused to sign a contract w/ him... As a result, McCartney had no choice but to sue his bandmates if The Beatles' earnings and assets would be divided equally between the 4 members without Allen Klein stealing from the band in his management capacity.
If there was at least an audio of this masterpiece with only Lennon's voice, you would feel what it is to feel pleasure through the ears, Lennon's voice was a delight.
This one makes me realize how different each of the three voices are, and yet this enhances their harmonies somehow. I suppose John's voice is so distinctive that it's going to set the tone and make any song he sings unique. But the three together, too much, really great harmonies.

Interesting you picked a piece of theirs that is a lot less impressive sonically. As a trained singer perhaps you were drawn to the live performance, but I prefer the studio version. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Beatles fan and love them both. They also excelled, with George Martin's tutelage, at production and presentation. The rooftop concert was more raw talent and a statement of farewell as it was a performance of polished talent. Give the studio version a listen to also.

John never wrote more contradictory lyrics. If this was a "love that has no end", why is he screaming "Don't let me down"? "It's a love that lasts forever" then why is he so determined to shout warnings, "Don't let me down"? Or what, John? His early Beatles songs often had threatening lines. Then, compare these lyrics to the sublime near-same-time lyrics for ACROSS THE UNIVERSE. This is a song almost more fitting those early Beatles' records.
I didn't watch this to hear that you liked or disliked the performance. As an Artist yourself i would think you would understand that what your audience wanted to know was why you thought it was worthy of our and your attention.. An analysis perhaps that explained why you had the opinion you had. When in art school this is called a critique. Learning about the critique process would help your analyzing skills and make your videos worthy of your audiences attention.
certainly not their best tune but many bands'd be proud of it. the ' rooftop ...' was first done I think by Jefferson Airplane in NYC Rockefeller center a year earlier.
I get so pissed off when uninformed people such as yourself refer to The Beatles as “just a boy band”. Do you even know what a boy band is? Go and look up the definition of that phrase. They WERE NOT a boy band. They started off, from the very beginning, writing their own music, something that boy bands don’t do. They also played their own instruments. And, while it’s true that they started by writing music which appealed to teenagers (girls, in particular) which enabled them to get a foothold the commercial market, their music began to develop way beyond that once they were allowed, because of that enormous fame, to do what they really wanted. To dismiss them as merely “a boy band” is both ignorant and insulting. They influenced virtually everything which followed, musically, and even culturally. Don’t believe me? Try conducting this little experiment: Consult the Billboard charts prior to their arrival and then look at the same charts afterward and witness the almost complete change in musical direction that occurred in the 1960’s. It’s quite a dramatic change. No boy band in history was ever able to that.
@@MsAppassionata Firstly, the beatles did not write music. In order to write music, you need to be able to read music and play the music that has been written. Since by their own admission the beatles could do neither. So the beatles never wrote music. The beatles were found, moulded, had their look changed, the songs written had to be love songs, to appeal to a teen audience. The same playbook used on Elvis by the colonel, Epstein used on the beatles. And yes, the beatles were just a boy band. Charts mean that the radio stations were paid to play their songs. You know nothing, sorry.
@@bwana-ma-coo-bah425 🙄🙄🙄 That is probably the most ignorant comment on this subject that I have ever read. The Beatles never said that they couldn’t write or play their own music. Show me where any of them said that? I’ll wait…..What they did say was that they never studied how to read notes. They certainly knew many different chords and could read guitar charts. All one needs to know is the ability to hear music and the willingness to be able to translate that into song. Using your “logic” nobody ever wrote Blues music, since most of it’s practitioners couldn’t read music either. There are probably millions of people who can’t read a note, but it never stopped any of them from writing songs. And, what do you mean by they couldn’t play their own songs anyway? They were doing that long before Brian Epstein or George Martin got ahold of them. I can still see that you have no idea what a boy band is. Why don’t you invest in a dictionary? You just might learn something, though I seriously doubt it, seeing as how you don’t even appear to know what is involved in songwriting. Perhaps you can enlighten us all 😏🙄 with who you think wrote those songs, since they did not write themselves. As far as their appearance was concerned, you act as if every other band around at that time (including your precious Rolling Stones) didn’t do exactly the same thing to make it big. You just want to be a hater, that’s all. Well, that’s your prerogative but don’t try to indicate that you have some inside knowledge about the subject because you don’t.
I think when this band gets an audience it's gonna get a real following.
I don't know my friend, a lot of competition nowadays...

😊 The Beatles... ❤ , you should listen to these groups , they surprise ... U2 , Dire Straits , Heroes del Silencio , Queen and Montserrat Caballe , ABBA , Jamiroquai... Saludos cordiales Spain.
You should react to some Harry Nilsson, if you haven't already - he was a contemporary and friend of the Beatles, and he had an amazing voice.
Just about to watch..is this really your first Beatles song reaction? You know they have about 150 absolute great songs, and another 50 just great songs. so you have your work cut out for you!
You (everybody) should watch the movie Across the Universe.
🥰🥰🥰
Please react to more Beatles!! So many great tunes
You're really cute, no one else can really create music like this 😢
My favorite 3 artists ever, the Beatles, Kate Bush and Eivor (a classically trained singer also by the way and a current independent artist). If you want to learn new things, check out Eivor and what she can do with her vocals. While this is by no means her most popular song, it is my favorite song since Kate Bush and this is a live version. ruclips.net/video/YEkYbolTyNQ/видео.html
Yeah
I think i heard of the beatles. I dont care for the song. But they have so many. Im old not beatles old but hey its your video. Aint gonna tell a cute opera singer her business.
❤
Lennon is a genius. MaCartney a genius. Harrison a genius. Ringo is sneaky too
HI, do you know the song "good night" from the Beatles ?
Have a good day 😊
Interesting you picked a piece of theirs that is a lot less impressive sonically.
*Beatles have so many songs for you to do* (Dislike you doing research before the reaction...why not AFTER a reaction. That way its a real genuine reaction. Sometimes research lets you know what to expect. I mean this for all reactions not just this one)
There are the Beatles and then everyone else..
To think this was their last live performance and the police had to cut it short. What a bunch of bozos the controllers can be. The last live performance of their own favorite group of all time and they shut them down. DUMB!
THIS IS THEIR DEMISE LETS GO BACK TO REVOLVER AND SGT PEPPER'S AND SEE THE TALENT
Baby you are fantastic marry me! I'm a poet and drummer and you are an angel!
❤️🇮🇹🤘
If you would only listen to Lennon's voice...
Thanks for the recommendation💕
Ringo did not join the Beatles until 1962, to be clear.
Thanks for the info🌺
Em dễ thương quá
You are very beautiful. BTW great song.
Buonasera Se vuoi prova ad ascoltare alcune canzoni di Lucio Battisti forse il piu' grande cantautore italiano ( es. Emozioni, I giardini di Marzo......) Grazie😊
Well, I really like your dad...
0:56 Not "compromising"...
React to Nemo, the winner of eurovision 2024, please
Look ... Journey - separate ways live 1983 Tokyo live,,,, Who's cryin now escape 1981 live ... or Emerson lake and palmer - still you turn me on live California 1974 👍☝🖐😊
Thanks for the feedback
this wasn't one of their best songs - you should react to "The White Album"
certainly not their best tune but many bands'd be proud of it. the ' rooftop ...' was first done I think by Jefferson Airplane in NYC Rockefeller center a year earlier.
So you've heard them before. This is not a true 'first reaction' then.
Why do you think it's your place to pause a Beatles song so often?
😂Get over yourself. It's a reaction channel. That's what reactors do, and she does a great job.
The Beatles were just a boy band.
You're right. They were a band comprised of four boys. Well, technically men. But what you said is still basically accurate.
@@BugRib No it isn’t
